I think the DOT arrangements were some of their best. Listen to an older recording of "You Always Hurt the One You love" and then listen to the arrangement on DOT from the 60's. Far superior!
Each of my three daughters' first song they heard after being born was Daddy's Little Girl by The Mills brothers. At 3:54 in this, Donald Mills is shown and he held my first daughter way back in the early nineties at our local county fair and snag Daddys Little Girl to her. Didnt have a video camera for that (and cell phones were very peimitive and not widespread as they are now) somit lives om in my memory and her subconscious because she was only three and doesn't remember. But she was very happy with his holding her on gis arms while singing it to her. Mr. Mills was very kind and gracious. He was about 77 or 78 years old at the time. I sure wish I had a video of that to show her. 🙏
The first time I heard The Mills Brothers music was from The Dean Martin Show, as a special guest. Dean's jam with them in 1-2 songs. So beautiful. They are truly~ The Great Mills Brothers.
These guys were simply the best! I'll never understand why they are held in the same regard as Frank, Dean and others. At least in Dean's estimation, they were!
