- CNN’s Jake Tapper speaks with Bill Maher about the comedian’s thoughts about wokeness, President Joe Biden, and former president Donald Trump. Maher’s show, “Real Time with Bill Maher” airs on HBO, which, like CNN, is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.
I don't always agree with Bill Maher, but I have a lot of respect for him and the fact that he unapologetically calls things how he sees them and shoves bias aside. We need more people in the media like him.
Except he doesn't shove bias aside. He's quite biased (even more so recently then he was).

Yeah like when he said it was just Texas teaching that the Civil War was fought over State’s rights (not slavery). He really tells it like it is! (Because he’s a wealthy old man who doesn’t have any skin in the game. He just wants the system that he’s on top of to remain the way it is)

As a conservative, I really respect Bills way of explaining what he thinks. Don’t always agree but in other areas agree with him a lot. We need both sides to go back to this way of reasonably discussing solutions to problems we all face.

@@richsackett3423 Wrong as factually wrong, or the wrong opinion compared to your own..? I think he makes a very sound argument, whether you agree or not. The key is to understand why people believe what they believe, makes it easier to co-exist. I don't believe in fairy tales like Christianity or any other religion, but I've studied it carefully so I can understand it and respect people who believe those things instead of disliking them.

I was a 90's kid, and when I was in school we were always taught that labels were bad, because they painted people into a corner and they reinforced stereotypes. Today, it seems that people instead cling to their labels and stand behind them, as though they are the definition of their identities. It's weird, to me

I love it when Conservatives and Republicans come on the show. I really want to hear their views. I don't always agree with Bill, but more often than not, I concur with Bill. He and John Oliver are the reason I subscribe to HBO.

A few years ago...I went to see Bill Maher at Nokia Theater LA live cause I am a fan..but the thing was...all of his jokes..I kinda heard already watching his show...not much new...just an FYI for anyone thinking about catching his comedy show. He is not a comedian in the vein of say Chris Rock or Dave Chapelle...you won't be busting a gut laughing..but it was good to see him in person and support him.
New Rules has been, for the past 20 years, the best five minutes of politician television. I don't think I've ever missed one.
Bill is so logically consistent and decent, I think at some point in the future many will say: we should have listened to him more.

I don't always agree with Bill and he tends to hog the show from his guests and not let them speak, especially if he disagrees. But would you really want someone that agreed with you 100%? My wife is Chinese and she's very nationalistic, but I definitely get China's POV. I almost never agree with it and jingoism sounds a lot like Trump. But I like hearing a different opinion.

I love Maher. The man is funny - and the crazy thing is he makes you laugh by simply telling the truth and making you realize how absurd our society is in the process.

nobody has the 'Truth'. You may have pieces of the 'Truth', but nobody knows everything. That is the problem. We have all these know-it-alls, right and left, who think they have the whole Truth. fact finding leads to truth not overblown generalized statements. It may sound great but is often specious. establish the facts and you got something real and true.

Just like Maher says: we used to fight to remove differences between races, but now the so-called "left" actually promote racial difference.

I get it overall, but that's a bad argument. Society has continually changed. At one point, racial segregation was the norm. If you thought it was a good thing, you were probably in the majority. Over time, that opinion changed. I'm deliberately picking an extreme example to show the folly of that logic, so don't take literally.

I am new to the stock market. Every stock that I bought so far, I was out of luck because I bought them when they were expensive. I feel I missed out on all the stock opportunities so far for the tech stocks.I believe having 75K yearly income would be a good investment so I want to plug all my savings into the stock market. Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others, as an investor, you should’ve known that by now, nothing beats experience and that’s final, personally I had to reach out to a stock expert for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to a million, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I’m buying again

Also where the issue of age becomes a red herring is that if it turns out that Trump is the GOP nominee that Biden will be facing, then you have to keep in mind that Trump himself is only a few years younger than Biden...

Great interview. Like many here, I certainly don't always agree (or even close to agreeing) with some things he says but he's dead on with several matters in this interview and says it how it needs to be said. As long as respected people like him continue to stand up, say it how it is like it or not, we all still have hope of freely speaking our minds, thoughts and opinions

I must admit that this is a great video but know Crypto-currency trading is very volatile one as such is too risky for bigginers without basic knowledge to make good fortune out of it, I suggest you invest with a reputable broker and enjoy your returns.

There are few people of Bill Maher's intelligence and communication skills communicating to a large swath of us that want to understand what's happening in our world. I don't think I have ever had a significant problem with any of his opinions. It

Bill Maher reminds me of my previous work mentor and a reflection of myself because I was the only one got along with him at the company. He's brutal with his comments, but someone who you can converse with -- if you have the rhetoric and can take bad humor. Otherwise, he'll crush you because he's well informed. He may not be very tactful, but he speaks the truth -- people hates him because he speaks the bitter truth.

I love Bill Maher's brand of Liberalism, wisdom, smarts, and humor. I don't agree with everything he says, but I agree with most of it (in the 90th percentile range) and that makes him worthy of listening to his views closely & often. A really good interview. Thanks, Jake Tapper & Bill Maher.

I watch bills show every week. The thing I’d say is you love it when you agree with him, but can be annoyed when you don’t. I’m fine with that. I don’t have to agree with him on everything. And ultimately, it’s just his opinion. He’s not the ultimate authority on anything. He’s just a guy with an opinion. Both conservatives and liberals can probably watch his show because you will find things you agree with him on and see well informed contrasting opinions
I certainly lean conservative, but watch Bill because I love how he mocks all of the “woke madness” in this country. One of his best bits was the new warning labels for old movies….. “The Wizard of Oz”: “A woman of color is murdered by a rural white farm girl”.

Great interview. I respect both of them. They both seem sincere and intelligent. I liked Bills comments in regard to allowing and living well with disagreement,....yes, thicker skin AND more fun loving maybe IS the way.
Then you have Trump who wanted Jimmy Kimmel removed from the air because he said bad things, truthful things, about Trump.
Do you think that fascists are going to agree? While our individual rights are being demolished, while we have violence and hate controlling our politics, it's not okay to look the other way. Sometimes disagreement is necessary. Sometimes you have to be angry - like when children are massacred or taken from their families. What's needed is for brave people to take a stand for what's right and moral and not do a "both sides" thing.
I’m a lifelong conservative and have a ton of issues within my own party these days. I Live in Florida and love how DeSantis has Governed the state. With that being said, I find myself agreeing with Bill Maher more times than not. The liberal he is, is something I can get behind, even though I don’t agree with all his views I understand where he’s coming from.

People in the US represent the ideas of their parties. I'm old enough to remember when it was the other way around. The solution is so simple. Everyone needs to shed their fear of ridicule and just express what they really think. Just like Maher does. We don't need to organize around a movement. Just be yourself. If you make some of your friends angry then you are doing it right.

democracy has nothing to do with taking “parts of both sides” there is more than two sides and if we had a real Democratic system with proportional parliamentary style politics instead that would be apparent to you. Democracy means one thing “rule by the people” whether those people are socialist, conservative, liberal, whatever, is irrelevant in what defines democracy.

@@franklin9400 a lot of countries are unions of states. It’s not special and it doesn’t mean our system has to work the way it does. Germany is a federal republic like we are but their system is much more proportional and democratic than ours.
