For media, bad news makes money and gets viewership. There's also a difference between facts and a truth. I could, for example, cite a fact, like, you're twice as likely to die eating pork when the truth would cite that a certain small part of the total population has that risk. That's why I prefer to get my news directly from wires like AP and Reuters, or European outlets such as DW. At least I know there's no slant. Are they perfect? No. But at least they don't have an agenda, like the cable news outlets in the states.
So true Bill. I was a News Photographer for 30+ years. When I first got hired, it was in a small TV MARKET but back then, you had to work your way up getting jobs in bigger markets. Getting into the bigger markets made you more money. So, when I started the NEWS is what was reported. I finally got to 1 of the larger markets, Houston. It meant more money but I was closer to home and that was a big plus. I saw how the NEWS got more artificial and how it got away from reporting facts and giving stories a 'SLANT' to influence viewers. That's when I retired. People that decided what stories would be reported that day would only do ones helpful to them. So I said ADIOS because I thought it was unprofessional to mislead viewers. I'll always remember a saying that would be used very often "IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS".
@@Ho11is2Ho11ywoodeveryday I watch people constantly being hypnotized by the news. I don't think these people care with the facts are especially if what they are watching supports their belief system. I always double check the information and so so many times it's incorrect.
It's really disturbing how easily over half the public is manipulated by media. They present a story, show only the facts they want you to hear, tell you exactly how you should interpret it, and it never occurs to the viewer to ask "is there an agenda at play? Did they leave anything out? What are the other ways I could interpret this?"
This New Rule segment reminded me a lot of the HBO series the newsrooms. There is a reason the next "American Crime Story" will be about the Menendez Brothers murdering their parents - a bunch of teen girls on TikTok saw heavily slanted and cleverly edited 30 second clips of Lyle and Eric crying about being abused while wearing cute sweaters and collared shirts - and they now have a huge fan base of young people who think they should be free. A fan base that got their information from a 30 second editorial video they watched in vertical mode on their phones.

Personally, I consider myself mostly a fan of Ben Shapiro and his colleagues at the Daily Wire. But I can't stand it when their RUclips videos have headlines that say "Ben Shapiro DESTROYS woke leftist with facts and logic." I don't usually comment on anything on RUclips, but I have to say that this was one of the most encouraging and reassuring messages I have heard in a long while. It's nice to be informed without feeling like the sky is falling, or like someone is jerking your chain towards any extreme.
I would highly recommend Beau Of The Fith Column. I've been watching him for a couple years now as I got rid of watching shit starters like TYT. If you like NOT being fucked around by the media, he's your guy 👌
The media is just using fear mongering tactics, doomsaying like every doomsayer before them. Every doomsayer before them was wrong. We're all living proof of that: Y2K didn't end modern civilization, the world didn't end in 2012 (the Mayan calendar must have been chiseled incorrectly,) Harold Camping's math continues to be off, Marshall Applewhite was wrong too (not that the Heaven's Gate cult is around to know that.) Just move on with your lives, everyone. We all have better things to do.
The sky isn't falling, but there will be big changes in the future. Although mostly won't affect those of us alive today. Countries like Bangladesh will be largely uninhabitable in 50 to 100 years. Those people have to go somewhere.
That was so refreshing. I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with anything that much that I’ve seen on RUclips. That made me feel better about life as a normal person that hasn’t picked a side in a world where the media tells me to.
@georgelayton6641 He's been ridiculing and attacking the student protesters for many weeks, absurdly claiming they are Hamas loving anti-semites, despite so many Jewish students and even Holocaust survivors joining them. But this week, Biden finally agreed with them, so Bill's trying to save face.
If you go on Twitter or you go to the media comment sections you'll think that the world is ending. You'll sink all these neo Nazis are everywhere and antisemitism is behind every door and under every bed Then you look at the actual poles and the majority of people stand by Israel and understand that they have a right to defend themselves. These are just a small group of Nazis that are very loud You go on these websites you'll think that the world is ending. But there's violence in the streets everybody's getting shot and nobody can afford a loaf of bread But you go out in the real world and yeah things might not be perfect things might be getting more expensive but it's not like it appears on social media. It's just a bad actors have understood that social media is a great way to manipulate people. The Russians figured that out in 2016 And tons of other people figured it out after. It doesn't have to be true but they can use social media to spread disinformation. And it's not just the Russians
Nothing any of us that grew up with Uncle Walter (Cronkite) couldn't tell you, but this was done magnificently. This should be required viewing Day 1 of every Journalism 101 class in the country.
Finally enough the movie anchorman 2 actually illustrates this perfectly.. The entire plot of that movie is Ron Burgundy realizing that he can make way more money and get way more viewers by sensationalizing the news and even making things up then actually reporting on the truth I'm not even sure if Will Ferrell meant it to be that way but that's the way it went
Why? More details please because it's rather hard to believe protestors at a university of that size (a major university) could actually get in the way that much. Did they just block every parking lot or something? University parking is already a major pain but idk, I'm trying to picture how that would come about. Also, I don't really mean to take it there necessarily but if it was just "another war", that'd be one thing I guess. But genocides (genocidal wars) are a bit different and demand swift rebuke by the public and most of the world otherwise it could be normalized as 'just war' or just another run-of-the-mill armed conflict. I mean, Putin is bad enough with his brutal (but not really unconventional) war further up north, but what Netanyahu is doing is somehow even worse. Anyway.. my only critique or question really for the college campus protestors is; "why there? why protest at a college campus?" Like I really don't understand why they are protesting and causing scenes on college/university campuses of all places and not government facilities or sites? And what were/are even their demands anyways? Because I've heard that being reported but I can't imagine what these kids are expecting or requesting from their school with regard to a crisis happening in Gaza.

Having said that, he in fact has become, who he is mocking, only in a much less palatable manner. He's calling his fellow pundits out for something he's doing himself. Then again, rather than him being just another garden variety opportunist, he might just be someone totally ignorant about his hypocrisy.

For media, bad news makes money and gets viewership.
There's also a difference between facts and a truth.
I could, for example, cite a fact, like, you're twice as likely to die eating pork when the truth would cite that a certain small part of the total population has that risk.
The news isn't a lie, but rather taking a truth and stretching it to scare people into overreacting. That's basically what news is.

I'm not even sure if Will Ferrell meant it to be that way but that's the way it went

Love the double shot at Boeing😂😂 our deep conspiracy driven fears of the future is almost same odds as winning lotto jackpot.
I somewhat agree. My wife works for a major University and she had to work from home because of the protests.
