    My home town back in the 1960’s. I remember it more like the 1948 photos. Thanks for this great video.

    Visited Doncaster last year; been a few times for shopping; only 40 odd minutes by train; makes a nice day out 😁

    Doncaster had been around since the Middle Ages if I’m correct because there is a medieval castle ruins called the Conisborough Castle which was built during the Middle Ages but have to say it’s sad to see such a great castle all destroyed by whatever destroyed it

    • @Teuthis
      @Teuthis Год назад +1

      It's actually been around since the Romans! The Romans called it Danecaster.

      Conisborough Castle, which is mentioned in the Domesday book, is still very much around. They even put floors in it, ruining it in the process, in my opinion.

      @@odman69 though the castle is ruins which have to say that it hurts seeing that and I like castles a lot especially as an American because you Brits have some better historical sites that have been around during the ancient and the medieval era unlike in the USA but still has some good tourist attractions

      @Teuthis I remember that from the "The kingdom " series was it? I'm not sure if right name it's that Viking series. It was amazing to see at the end. I'm from Doncaster 😁

      @@Teuthis you’re right dude and man the Romans did do a lot of things to the British isles but just imagine if the Roman Empire was still a thing to this day though I know the head of the Roman Empire was Rome itself but it would’ve not been called Italian Empire or who knows but, imagine if Britain was still part of the empire it would’ve also had Mediterranean influences I think not sure about the food too

    Born and bred in Doncaster; Balby, to be precise. Thankfully, I managed to escape the absolute shithole at the age of 38, 16 years ago. I do not miss it.

      Depends where you are. There is poverty in Hexthorope, town centre government housing high rise etc, middle class in new devlopments in Bawtry, certain parts of Doncaster etc and upper class of multi millionaires on Bawtry Road etc

      Bawtry is not in Doncaster,,it's like 5 miles outside Donny,,, hexthorpe , balby, Cantley, yes they are all suburbs of donny, but Bawtry no,, way out in the sticks
