Wow. Bradford Pit. My grandmother was born in Bradford Manchester in 1888 as the twelfth child of a family of generational miners who had travelled from the Midlands through Lancashire in the 1860’s and finally began to settle in Manchester during the 1860’s to the early 1870’s. My grandmother’s own grandfather, father and brothers were miners at Bradford Pit. My mother and father were born and lived in Bradford and so was I , as well as the generation after mine ie my sisters’ children. I lived there until 1967 and as I stood on my doorstep I could see the Bradford Pit Tower. What memories. People who started life with a wealthier monetary heritage may be puzzled at my pride, but I AM proud to be descended from generations of miners and especially with the added association with Bradford Pit.
Lovely post and l love your pride too. I remember Bradford Pit and when l attended the Etihad where the pit was for the City games l often think about the miners.
I love this!!! My memories of Manchester are following a band called New Model Army in late 80's. Slept in a few car parks!!! What a great video capturing such fine buildings of the past.
Fabulous, as always. I'm watching all your videos at least twice. But where are City and United stadiums? After all, Manchester is the best in the world in football.
