Ah, Doncaster's market, once the crown jewel of the town, a bustling hive of activity and a true testament to the vibrant community spirit that characterizes this beautiful place. As a lifelong resident, I remember with fondness the days when the market was at its peak, with its maze of colorful stalls and vendors selling everything from fresh produce to handmade crafts. It was a feast for the senses, a place where you could lose yourself for hours on end, soaking up the sights, sounds, and smells of this magical space.
But alas, over the years, the market has lost some of its luster, as changing consumer habits and economic downturns have taken their toll. However, I refuse to lose hope. I believe that with the right investment and vision, the market can be restored to its former glory, a beacon of hope and a source of pride for the town. Imagine a modern, sleek market, with cutting-edge infrastructure, a diverse range of vendors, and a vibrant atmosphere that draws in tourists from far and wide. It's not just a dream, it's a vision that can become a reality with the right leadership and commitment.
So let's come together, Doncaster residents, and demand that our beloved market be given the attention and resources it deserves. Let's make it a destination that rivals any market in the world, a place that we can all be proud of and that future generations can enjoy. Doncaster's market may have lost some of its shine, but it still has the potential to be a shining star in our community."

This is scary to watch as it seems like no time ago. Crazy to see Craig W buying sweets at 7:00, we were good mates in the early 90s. I haven't seen him since.

The man who speaks at 12:00 knows the truth. If you looked at the market now it's dead... Cash is feared

It seems like a different planet to where we are now. Progress ,what progress. We are just going backwards and end up like a third world nation.

Interesting film,I recognised a few of the fruit guys and I still use that sweets stall. It’s telling that they are all talking doom and gloom and this was 30 years ago,it’s probably not 1/4 the size now but there are still some good traders.

Sad, but society has changed. Gone is the day of the housewife (like my mum), supported by a husband who actually had time to shop at lots of different market stalls and the butchers etc. looking for the best bargains. My mum would spend most of friday and saturday shopping round Doncaster. Sadly people where both partners work full time just don't have time for this anymore and drop in the supermarket on the way home from work to grab as quickly as they can what is needed for dinner and breakfast and pack up for next day, usually completed in less than half an hour. Times have changed. Markets are more of a novelty than a necessity now.
