Thanks for coming to Donny, there are other things to see and/or visit but you have made a good attempt. Just like to point out Danum is pronounced Daynum. Safe travels.

Thank you for watching, Nigel. Donny is a lovely place and the people were really friendly when I was there. Thank you for the pronunciation help. There are certainly other areas of Donny I'd like to have a closer look round like the racecourse and the lakeside area. Are there any other areas you recommend?

Near the Lakeside is the Doncaster Rovers football ground, as late as February they were one of the favourites to be relegated but are now in the promotion play offs. Their previous ground was opposite the racecourse and was unique in Europe as the only stadium with separate tunnels for the home and away teams. A fire in the Main Stand one night in June 1995 caused extensive damage and nine months later chairman Ken Richardson was arrested following an evening match against Fulham. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit arson and sentenced to four years' imprisonment. The actual arsonist, Alan Kristiansen, received a one-year prison sentence; it was revealed that Kristiansen, a former SAS soldier, had been paid £10,000 by Richardson to start the fire. In the early hours of 7 February 2007, local residents near the stadium described a sound "like a bomb going off", later determined to be a gas explosion. The impact of the blast left more than half of the Main Stand obliterated and much of the roof in pieces. Two people at the scene received hospital treatment for injuries sustained in the explosion, one of whom had to be transferred to a specialist burns unit in Nottingham, while one lane of Bawtry Road had to be closed for two hours because of scattered debris and the risk of further explosions. It was later believed the 2 people had been taking copper pipe from the scene. The last game at Belle Vue was on 23 December 2006 against League One leaders, Nottingham Forest. Doncaster Rovers finished their time at the stadium with a win, with a goal from Theo Streete ensuring a 1-0 victory. Just past the site of the old Rovers ground is Doncaster's leisure centre, The Dome. It is home to the first and only split-level ice rink in the UK. Princess Diana opened the Dome in 1989. A little further out of town, down Bawtry road, is The Yorkshire Wildlife Park with all the usual animals you would hope to see at a Safari park plus others like polar bears. On the subject of bears, Shirley and Eddie Clarkson designed the stuffed toy in a factory known as the Bear Garden in Doncaster, which sadly closed in 1998. The first prototype bears were given to their children, Grand Tour presenter and former Top Gear presenter, Jeremy Clarkson and his sister Joanna for Christmas in 1972. Hope this gives you a few ideas for your next visit. Take care mate.

Lovely video thank you. You should have taken a short walk south from the Regent Hotel along the Great North Road (know as Bennethorpe these days) and maybe taken some film of Doncaster’s prestigious Racecourse area

Thank you Steve. Donny has so much to see. I will definitely be back again soon for another tour round. I will look out these places then. I've been to the Racecourse a couple of times when I've ran the Donny 10k and it's really nice there. Thanks for watching.

Fairplay bro, you seem like you’re doing what you love and sharing it with the world. I like that. I’m just a young dude from West Brom who appreciates smaller channels ✌🏽 keep up the good work.

I appreciate that! Thank you so much. I will be heading down to the West Midlands later this year to do some videos there so hopefully find some more videos you'll enjoy then.

The Mural of the man with horse is actually a miner down the pit with his pit pony.

@@steveh31 Unfortunately a lot of places are heading that way too. Whether it’s online shopping, out of town retail parks, we’ve all changed how we shop, and it’s a shame if markets and smaller shops don’t get the footfall they need. I’m sure there’s enough desire in Donny to hope things improve for retail options in the centre.

Mate. I'm just trying to give you videography advice. I don't like the fade transitions either. I think normal cuts between the clips would have been fine

Great stuff. Thank you. It's definitely taken the right way! I'm only going to learn what looks good, feels right, and is a good watch for the viewer by learning from more experienced and much better YT-ers like yourself. I've just subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to learning more from you and other similar channels where I can help develop my skillset like everyone does when starting out. Thank you for caring enough to message, I appreciate it!

@richlordtravels Wow. You can really take criticism well. I saw your post on one of the Facebook groups about buying add ons for your video editor. I commented back, but I can't find the thread again. I'm personally done with the trying to do lots in the edit thing. I don't think it helps to get your videos viewed. As long as the audio is good, and the video quality is decent, that's the most important thing. Transitions, fancy effects. It's not really necessary, in my opinion.
