Although I definitely agree that on face value the story is NOT about homosexuality but rather about hostility toward visitors, which is a great transgression in middle eastern countries, I think it is worth pointing out that through the ages, accordingly to different Bible writers the main sin was something different. Even a Christian apologist Mike Winger agrees that story of Sodom and Gomora are not the key passage speaking homosexuality in the Bible. It’s other passages that speak about homosexuality being and abomination and only through lenses of these verses the sin of Sodom can be interpreted as homosexuality. That being said, scholars like Micheal Heiser would argue that wider cultural context provided by these verses is important for understanding the story of Sodom and Gomora and although it is not the key part of the story, for ancient Israelites homosexuality would be one of the sins committed by people of Sodom.

People always condemn Lot for offering his virgin daughters. I always thought that was more of a delay tactic than something he really thought would work. I mean really - if the dudes are looking for {insert euphemism a here}, they're not going to want {insert favorite euphemism b here}
Let me put it this way Friend; would you allow your daughters to be raped and murdered or would you choose to defend them. No need to answer; I'm confident you would sacrifice your life for your children I feel the point was that none of Lot's family were worthy. They had choose to leave Abraham and live in Sodom. The footnotes of one of the bibles I read suggested a different reason for offering up his daughters. The argument in the footnotes was that middle eastern morality at the time was that you need to treat your guests better than your own family. Hence he offers his daughters before he offers his guests.

The book of Jude in the NT was written in Greek. It describes the sin of Sodom as HETERO. In this case it was the different flesh of angels, rather than make and female. But if homosexuality was the sin, Jude would have said HOMO. He didn't, so being gay isn't a sin. Trying to rape angels was the sin!

Part of me wants to ask how you define “Christian”, you know?
But beyond how you define it, there are plenty of biblical scholars who are Jewish or Christian. Sometimes it means that their beliefs dictate what they are willing to see in the scriptures, as I think your question is getting at.
I am Elijah of Malachi 4 5-6 so any discrepancies in the Bible are decided by me. Sodom was about rape, nothing to do with marriage of any kind. Male or female is determined by gender located in the brain and Matthew 19:12 has got prefers same-sex relationships. Anybody saying anything different is now part of the Great Tribulation that started September 1st.
