I only ever broke one cymbal in my life. It was an XS20 "medium" crash. Part of me thinks thinner crashes are technically stronger because they have more give than a heavier cymbal. And heavier cymbals are more popular with heavy hitters.
thinner cymbals are easier to break if played incorrectly. the thinner cymbals are for the guys who do not hit hard at all and need the full body of a good hit at light hits. aka jazz guys. heavier cymbals are great for harder hitters but they sound awful in my own opinion i like mediums and medium thin personally man i should put this into a video...
@@Rio_1111 the classics are hit or miss. (insert pun) the only classics i have are the classic dual 20 inch crash and classic dark china. my other meinl is a byzance and that is their top of the line. but i have even heard a few of the cymbals i have that are not good. so i understand your dislike of the cymbal
Mad helpful I will be adjusting my brass next practice
glad i could help!

@@JaydepoolMusic I share this opinion with you and I am not a jazz guy at all. I bought one of these 18" classics crashes by Meinl and I am not fan.

How about cracks in hihat top?
With hihats, you lower them down to where you are hitting the taper against taper
I was always taught to not hit the edge and to angle the cymbals towards you.
its a rare teaching these days
@@JaydepoolMusic works for me im i love buying 20 dollars cracked pro grade cymbals to fix up. they usually end up sounding pretty good
@@efafe4972 nice ive done that with a few and worked out great
