Actually, I heard that it sounds like shit and it doesn’t Put enough moongel and it sounds like a dark bell. Sounds really good when you give it a chance
Damn, so many people hating on the video.. lol. Everyone keeps saying how "unmusical" all this stuff sounds, so just watch the actual video where I play it all, and it'll all make sense. Haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.
I read this comment before that part came up; I usually don't have the ear to notice that kind of thing, but oh my goodness that cymbal is a major chord clear as day.
Been playing drums for 40 years and this is one of the most unique looking kits I've seen in forever.......looks really fun to play, LOVE bells.....and the dry sense of humor is great.👍👍
„This is a zildjian prototype, there are only about 10 out there“ 5 minutes later „Oh, i forgot, its a candle holder which i modified“ Cant stop laughing
The sound of that candle Holder is better than some bells I've heard companies manufacture. Didn't know what to expect first and then it was funny and impressive
Thank you for demonstrating the sounds these cymbals make, I really appreciate that you took the time to do this. I think there are a lot of aspiring percussionists who also want to know more about cymbals and what they sound like in varying configurations as you have done here. Cymbals cost more than the drums do, so learning about them before laying down a weeks paycheck for a ride cymbal is awesome. Your 8" splash with the crack in it can be fixed such that it lasts longer by drilling a hole, about 1/2 inches in diameter, at the crux of the crack, then cut away the cracked part from the edge of the cymbal to the hole with some tin snips. It won't be pretty, but the sound of the cymbal will improve and the cymbal usually will last much longer than if no hole is drilled. Thanks again.
I liked that one the most too. I'm not a drummer so I'm not super well informed on this sort of thing, maybe the others sound better in a full band context or something.
Exactly! The biggest problem with 95% of the bells on the market today is they don't fucking shut up once you hit them. The only exception I've found so far are the Stagg black metal bells.
After all these years, these videos have now become my "comfort videos". I dunno why, but Dave's old studio just has been engraved to my mind as a place of some comfort. Weird, 'cause I've only watched it thru your videos. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for your recent work and the progress you made too! It's just my sentiment, I suppose. But yeah, these old videos... They comfort me :)
Candle holder reminded me of the volcano cup or ice bell.....I've been playing a long time but out of your Arsenal of junk...id say candle holder sounds really good
Hahaha a candle holder that was funny as heck man. Drumming is all about been creative bro. Making different sounds and being different from all other drummers while still making sense when you play. Good job 👏🏼
"27 years later..." LOL! :-)) The video on Gabe's channel is pretty awesome! I've always liked small cymbals, thanks to my first drum hero Stewart Copeland :-)
I found a great way to muffle drums and cymbals is to spray on some Plasti Dip. Start thin and layer it to your needs. When your done with it just peel off and start over
You should get you a guitar pedal board and somehow rig each of these little cymbals to its own separate fuzz / noise / reverb / wawa / superfluous nonsense box. With a little beater of some sort. Run a bunch of patch cables all around. Display it prominently in front of your kit. Add blinking lights. Smoke. Flames. Whatever. The larger and more ostentatious the better.
great. a good ideia for playing in pubs where you have not enought space for a complete drumkit. use effects cymbals instead toms. and it have a nice sound. its nice to create new fills. different. congrats and tks.
People are over here hating and saying take care of your cymbals when they are like seven 😂😂. Geez do they even know how to play. Keep up the great vids man I watch them all the time and you've earned a sub😎 congrats
the sabian B8 spash was the first cymbal i ever had on my set. i first started getting into drumming when i was about 15, and my dad had an old set from when he was my age that he gave to me, but the cymbals had been stolen by my aunt to buy drugs. we went out to this place in a nearby city called the tradelot. the tradelot was basically a massive yard sale that happened every weekend, but it was like a black market. i guarantee that if you looked hard enough, you could buy literally anything there, and it isn't on the maps. anyone could come in and sell their things there, but there were permanent vendors too. anyways, we were just wandering around and found that a sabian 8 inch B8 splash effects cymbal for $30, and it was the first one i ever got. i absolutely loved its sound, but i've beaten it apart since 😂😂 ngl i kinda miss its sound
dude your channel is great ive never seen this before until this day haha and you are so funny i already watched 5 or 6 vídeos! nice work! (i dont speak inglish and didnt use Google) lol

Damn, so many people hating on the video.. lol. Everyone keeps saying how "unmusical" all this stuff sounds, so just watch the actual video where I play it all, and it'll all make sense. Haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.
+rdavidr Maybe because there's not even one second of proper playing
+rdavidr
why are they hating?!
+StiGy we aren't hating, we just think it's stupid and blaspheme to paint a K on a toy. Lol
+Ron Hotchkiss that the point it's a joke
+Ron Hotchkiss "We" meaning "you". Get over it.
That 6” accent cymbal has heavenly overtones. It sounds like a major chord
Was about to say that!
I read this comment before that part came up; I usually don't have the ear to notice that kind of thing, but oh my goodness that cymbal is a major chord clear as day.
Sounds like a church bell 🔔
It's a very in tune Bb major chord (to me it sounds like it's in 2nd inversion)
F major7
4:35 rings a major chord almost.
F major inversion with a C on the bottom.
@@camodrums I don't hear a c there, I think it is just a major 3rd between f and a.
I really like it! Sounds like a clock chime

That 6" accent sounds gorgeous. The chord that rings out is amazing.
The stack sounds like a trash can lid, the rest are fine.
I think that’s the point.
Xalur Madeira-Edis i don’t know stacks are meant to have a nice chick
@@lewislittledyke9817 stacks are whatever you want it to be

4:33 That 6" Paiste sounds like a car horn here.
That's fun 27 year's later, this is a Awesome set up that you have.
I love the people whining In the comments, the point wasnt to be a real kit, it was supposed to be a cool gimmick for a colab
Hits Zil-bell
27 years later
I died laughing OMG
That Paiste bell...OMG!!! I can still hear it ringing.....the cymbal should be your crown jewel it sounded so good!!!
I think the candle holder was the best Bell! xD Cool Sound, short sustain
Agreed
I liked that one the most too. I'm not a drummer so I'm not super well informed on this sort of thing, maybe the others sound better in a full band context or something.
I totally agree
Exactly! The biggest problem with 95% of the bells on the market today is they don't fucking shut up once you hit them. The only exception I've found so far are the Stagg black metal bells.
SpikeFlea yeah! Stagg metal Bell os pretty good. ON price and sound

The Paiste bell sounds beautiful
The second drum solo you played in the video sounded absolutely terrific, good work
Wow, that Z-bell is still ringing, even with the foam tape!
Loved yer part in the "Big cymbal vs lil cymbal" video. Thanks for the rundown.
This is great, thank you very much, now I can teach students to make music at school.
“ I was at a music store one day and…..” yep been there as have we all.
Bought a bell. Hit it once. I think it’s still ringing somewhere 🔔😁
The 6" Paiste bell sounds so good
Candle holder reminded me of the volcano cup or ice bell.....I've been playing a long time but out of your Arsenal of junk...id say candle holder sounds really good
I really wanted to hear the bells more than the story of each bell.
Jason Stearns then you clicked on the right vid
Sounds good dude. If I had a bunch of little cymbals, I would enjoy jamming like this.
That's an awesome setup. Love the stack!
Hahaha a candle holder that was funny as heck man. Drumming is all about been creative bro. Making different sounds and being different from all other drummers while still making sense when you play. Good job 👏🏼

OMG! Thanx man, I never thought about using another hihat clamp upside-down like that :D
the stack is my favorite personally, I love the sound!

I have the 6" Accent. I got it for $30. I love it and I don't usually use bells.
I love creativity.
then what was the super small bell that you used at the end?

I think the z bell was one of the first accent cymbals I purchased in 1990. Still have use, if played w skill.
"27 years later..." LOL! :-)) The video on Gabe's channel is pretty awesome! I've always liked small cymbals, thanks to my first drum hero Stewart Copeland :-)
I have a Stagg bell and i too found it just rang on for too long, so i spray painted the bottom black and it's perfect now
I found a great way to muffle drums and cymbals is to spray on some Plasti Dip. Start thin and layer it to your needs. When your done with it just peel off and start over
yeah Ive been meaning to make a video doing that for awhile. ill get to it some day lol
I'm not a drummer but I loved that hammerex bell.
“We have had this cymbal for generations and is the one thing keeping us sane”
“Oh wait a minute it’s just a candle holder”
Could you tell me what is the name of the last cymbal that appears in the video of big cymbals vs little cymbals please?
i was about call zildjian then you say oh its a candle holder. i like it.
damn. this dude is crafty.
Smoke. Flames. Whatever. The larger and more ostentatious the better.
you should take the rivets out of the ride with 100 rivets and play it!
Anyway, how is your sexlife?
Doesn’t reply after 2 years, then ask about his sexlife
dude can you tell me what kind of model is the zildjan bell in 1:55?
What color are those drums? To me it looks kind of like champagne sparkle and silver sparkle mixed together.
Pretty cool man.. Way to be innovative
Very epic, but what can you do with all your drums and cymbals and stuff?
HAHA that little joke on the ZilBell was funny , 27 years later , lol
The stack sounds like brushing the iron man suit with a tractor pipe
Rusty tractor pipe*
Have you ever tried brazing or silver soldering edge cracks or cracking around the holes??
That last bell looks like a doughnut :D
?
Yes it does
That's a kick-ass setup... Try adding Grombals to those cymbals... they're awesome!
cool groove at the end! how do you drill a hole, if the existing hole is too small? is it dangerous....? thanks for answering!
+Florian Tuchacek Just with bigger bit. as long as you have a good hold on the cymbal then theres nothing to worry about really.
slow or fast?
thanks anyway!!! great , funny and fresh approach

Do you think that the Hammerex having two holes in it might be for rivets?

What cymbal sleeve you use with the concave tops?
I like the Sabyan b8 then the A custom.
Dave, I highly recommend the HHX splashes.
you got me on that rare zildjian prototype, i fell for it lol good one

The little high hat sounds sweet
That ribbon crasher is amazing.
It's trashy in all the right ways.
cool set up man!
Put some holes in that Zil Bell if you haven't already! And those hats sound awesome, surprisingly. I also love that Hammeraxe Bell

Have you ever cut a cymbal? If so, what did you use to cut it? Also, have you ever made a hi hat clutch? Again, if so, how?
+Seth Davis Ive cut one with an angle grinder, but Im working on a project and will show how in the video. And no, I havent made a clutch before.
