That last groove was sick! All those weird cymbals worked together to create a naturally crushed, saturated sound. Even that purple ride fit right in. You did a good job at making these things musical!
When I was younger, I took part in all percussion performance where the instruments were made entirely from junk people threw out during spring cleaning. I constructed a weird, drumset sort of thing out of a washing machine and assorted crap. The "ride" was literally a piece of sheet metal. It sounded better than that alien egg steel *thing.*
While I wouldn't necessarily go after any of these myself, I was more impressed by the fact that you grooved and made music with all of them. If you closed your eyes and just listened, they all sounded awesome to me in the context of which they were played. Kudos to you for making that happen.
Haha, that first cymbal, the steel one, sounded like when I was a small kid and would try to make a drum set out of random buckets and containers around the house, and the pie tins that I would use for "cymbals", sounds just like those tins did!!!
The CP ride sounded like playing on a traffic sign. I love the trashy Rocktagon hats vibe! The Linear splash is -- unique. But not unusable. Sounds great with the rest of these sounds! The V-Wave makes a very styling hat (not so much an instrument I'd use). I *want* one of those Masterworks blanks! They sound AMAZEBALLS.
The CP ride has next to no redeeming qualities. The fact that they even sell it says something about the company. You nailed it with your traffic sign comment. If you want something that sounds that horrible, fine, but then just go find or steal a piece of metal and drill a hole in it
You always find the most practical applications for the products you test. It's like the manufacturer had the song you chose and your playing in mind when they built their instrument. By the way, your playing just keeps getting better and better! Thanks for sharing your talents!
Hands down, this is the best video you’ve ever made dude. The drumming examples were so rad and on point. You gave a solid overview of all these weird cymbals and showcased awesome creative use of everything like always. Bravo!
Hi Davud, i just love how, no matter how weird a piece of gear you get hold of, you akways find a rhythm pattern or groove and style that works with it to the maximum musical effect, you are probably the most inventive guy posting drums on RUclips, when it comes to musical style! Do you have some actual live gig footage playing with your band? That would be fun to see and hear!
I've been watching your videos for a year now drooling all over your collection. I was pleasantly surprised to see you featuring a cymbal I own. I found one of those Linear splashes about 4 years ago. It's certainly niche, but I enjoy watching you groove with it. Keep on keeping on... Love your channel.
That Percussion Steel FX Ride reminds me of a trash can lid. We used to do a thing in high school where the drum line would play on trash cans for a peprally. The snares would get those metal trash cans with the lids like you see in wrestling. We would play on the bottoms of those and the cymbal line would play the lids. Hearing you play that dude just sparked this memory so thanks!!
Next after the Paiste Mega Cup Chime (that looks like a british solider helmet from WWII) you night check out their Flanger Bell (both long discontinued). Oh and ufip made those weird wedges where they cut away most of the cymbal leaving only the bell and a wedge shaped portion of the profile. And there might even have been some tambourine jingles riveted onto that…
Just awesome. Looked like you were having even more fun than usual. Pretty sweet how you pulled each one's good stuff out :) I would have liked to hear that 'I forget the name and don't care as I don't aspire to own one' curved one as struck on the bend...
Gotta love the Rocktagon hats because they're just so out there. I have a Rocktagon splash and it's one of my very favorites. Sabian is making thin AAX Rocktagons now and they sound really nice.
This was a fun video to watch. Who was your drum teacher when you were young? Have you made a video along with your drum teacher? Would be great to see something like that where both of you come up with some funky, grooves together on weird funky drumsets. 😅
Fun fact. Zildjian MADE an 18 COD back in that. Actually came across one and made sure I grabbed it because I knew I was never going to find another one. I don't know if it was just a one-off or a rarity but it happened somewhere back there in the past
*_The most IMPORTANT item in any Drum Kit is a Creative Drummer...._* Different types of drums and cymbals come and go. Different trends for music come and go. One of your best videos. Definitely your funniest. I remember when the Sabian wave cymbals came out. Zildjian Meinl and Sabian were jumping on the jungle trend in the late 90's and that was one of them.
That blast beat brought me back to that old probably now deleted “David plays metal?” video. Also, that first cymbal when you bowed it resonated at a perfect E4 (not including the overtones).
I'm always fascinated by the sounds you can make by bowing cymbals and other random objects. The was once a Sleepy Hollow piece we played in high school that required bowing an old music stand. That was probably my favorite piece.
The cymbals sound… unique. That blank may be the most useful of the bunch. The real question is did the 13 year old rdavidr show signs of that glorious beard he now wears?
The ride cymbal reminded me of the metal trash can lid from back in the day. Eh! However the Wuhan splash was my favorite & sounded more useful than the others. It was fun to watch anyway! Nice blast beats, & ingenious way to play that wave "thing"!
Wow, that first one... the one dude on Earth who bought it must be thrilled... hopefully. I mean, besides you! The Linear pentagon sounded pretty cool.
That was a fun day with interesting cymbals. Percussion is a wide open artists landscape. I'd use the dry ride for special effects, movie soundtrack bites, including the wave/curved cymbal. All very cool but I'd say my favorite is the crash of doom.
hell yeah you got a V-wave!! i'm a big fan of mine, and fun fact, if you close mic it from the right angle, you can get this weird bendy low pitch undertone going that almost sounds like the pitch bends of the bayan half of tablas
That blank crash was👌Which was your favorite?
i havent watched the video yet 🙃
I like all of them because i cant afford any of them 🤣 😭
That steel cymbal is a few bends away from being a China cymbal thinks. XD
Have you tried any Hammerax stuff yet?
That steel ride with a bow and mallets!
This is a historical moment: David playing METAL??? AND A BLAST BEAT?!?! Loved that VFX cymbal, so weird yet so cool!
I KNOW RIGHT?!?!?!
Look like he was doing gravity blasts on that weird cymbal
Dude just found the cheat code to deathcore drumming
I'm pretty sure he mentioned in a few videos that he use to be in a metal band in his younger years.
@@abandonedanthracite5852 yep, and pretty sure not the first time he's played something metally here.

It sounded better than that alien egg steel *thing.*
You should check out Deden Noy on here, his snare is a paint bucket a biscuit tin and rocks and ot sounds pretty damn good.
I think the alien egg steel thing sounded nice with the timpani mallet roll
Skeleton Key also has some cool improvised drum kits
You know it's a good day when David uploads.
W I was actually so excited
I know it! I wish he uploaded more often, but I suppose quality matters much more than quantity!
Lol I was just gonna comment this
That Linear splash actually sounds really cool
I have one too, along with the round, slotted crash it came with. Terrible as a stack but both are awesome separately
Was thinking the same thing
yeah, best and cheapest
I was just about to say
The steel rides bell sounds almost like a clap.
The V-Wave blast beat is the best thing I've seen all year.
10mo ago and no comments?

I love the roctagon hats! But that crash of doom...... mmmwwaah. That's going on my wish list. Everything in this video was very metal!! LOVE IT! ✌️🤟🤘
This has to be my favorite episode yet. I never ralized the influence of cymbals on a kit‘s character. Thank you for this!
The CP ride sounded like playing on a traffic sign. I love the trashy Rocktagon hats vibe! The Linear splash is -- unique. But not unusable. Sounds great with the rest of these sounds! If you want to hear actual traffic signs being played- check out my man 'the drum thing'. Great content
@@benodaboy Yeah! And they sound terrible 🤣

That steel ride with the bow was EPIC. I bet a sound designer would love that thing

Wierd how everything sounds better together.
5:29 I lost it when he cut to this shot, never thought we'd see David's hidden Hobbit side
I have never wanted anything more in my life than to see David play a euro blast 🤤
Creative percussion is one of my favorite websites. I’m so glad it’s getting the representation that it deserves
Not their best products tho!
@@mathias841 u right
The linear splash actually sounded nice. Also the closed rocktagon hats sound pretty dope.
It's amazing how you can make these cymbals work with the music. Well done!
Whenewer i'm mad at something I watch your videos because you have such a calming presence it's unheard of. You are a capybara of drumming
That CP cymbal, sounds just like the old washing machine lid I used as a cymbal before I got a real one! LOL!!
The masterworks crash sounds better than the crash of doom it copies. Incredible
I think that bumpy ride would work best as a back beat accentuator. Has kind of a snare-like sound. I’d use it the same way you’d use a clap stack.
I have this cymbal, and you’re right. That or really busy patterns
"Only $62" dawg 💀that's a fortune in this economy. Also that blank crash is super good
the first one sounded like ur using a roof panel for a cymbal
4:38 one moment to appreciate this fill
A set with a dry ride (Like a Zildjian Dark Ride), that blank crash, the penta "splash" and an actual splash would sound really good for a rock group!
gotta say, the rocktagon hats were disgustingly crunchy. I'd imagine that sound would wear out quick but my god they sound tasty.
Your snare sounds absolute fire
I believe it’s a Starphonic aluminum i’ve got one. It’s a good snare if u dont mind paying 550 bucks.
@@joelmartin3213 awesome man! Out of my budget for sure tho 😂
The rocktagon hats had no business sounding this good omg
I've used Rocktagons as crash cymbals since the 80s. I currently have 12 of them. Bobby Rock used them as hi hats In his Zen of drumming video.
Rocktagon love ❤

never seen david do blast beats, that amazed me
Gotta love the Rocktagon hats because they're just so out there. I have a Rocktagon splash and it's one of my very favorites. Sabian is making thin AAX Rocktagons now and they sound really nice.
The bow on the first cymbal sounded awesome, to be honest!
Totally would use the linear splash.
I really like the roll sound as well. The only use that underwhelmed me was using it as a ride.
I’m loving that octagonal hi hat. That way it sits maybe it’s like a hexadecagonal hi hat
You made all of them sound great in musical context, amazing video man!!!
This was a fun video to watch.
Who was your drum teacher when you were young? Have you made a video along with your drum teacher? Would be great to see something like that where both of you come up with some funky, grooves together on weird funky drumsets. 😅
6:14 this is the pinnacle of drumming 😂 give up everyone, the best drum performance ever made has been done
I was laughing so hard I literally could not breathe! The look on his face when he played that “ride”….!😅

😂😂😂😂The rocktagon hats were ridiculous.
Your uploads instantly make my day better!
My local drum store had the same CP ride for years and I'd always play on it thinking "yeah that's why nobody's bought it yet" 😅
You could probably use that first one as a snare drum 😂
One of your best videos. Definitely your funniest. I remember when the Sabian wave cymbals came out. Zildjian Meinl and Sabian were jumping on the jungle trend in the late 90's and that was one of them.

Dude! Not a drum guy, but really enjoy these weird cymbal videos. Love to play them to test home stereo speakers, DACs, and amps.
Rdavidr casually whipping out a flawless blast beat like its nobody's business.
2:25 - When you play the roctagonal hihats open at a loud dynamic, they sound like a crash cymbal!
6:39 i've never expected david playing such a great blast beats
6:14 He Plays Music🤘😡🤘
that masterwork crash! perfect blend of china and crash/splash type cymbal. really like it
I'm always fascinated by the sounds you can make by bowing cymbals and other random objects. The was once a Sleepy Hollow piece we played in high school that required bowing an old music stand. That was probably my favorite piece.
0:38 - his reaction was awesome!
Never wanted octagonal hi hats before, I actually love the way they sound
Those Rocktagon hats are fire but I bet that linear splash would make a great stack top or bottom
That last song sounded like the character select screen for an early 2000’s racing game and I’M HERE FOR ITTTTTT ❤❤❤❤
I just love your channel and videos bro. Just a good night time watch. I love the dialog and creativity
'Bro' is really 'creative'.
The cymbals sound… unique. That blank may be the most useful of the bunch. The real question is did the 13 year old rdavidr show signs of that glorious beard he now wears?
triple hi that?!?!?! I can't wait
The Rocktagon hi-hats groove kinda had a raunchy vibe to it. I like it.
WE NEED V-WAVE HI-HATS!
ive been waiting a lot of time for a thirt part in the weird cymbal series
The Raouf blast!!
That bow string down the edge of the steel cymbal was pure dopamine
lmfao the disgust face every time you play the black cymbal is gold
Lol, that ZBT mention - brought back some good memories. Though I wasn't cool enough to hang the empty box on my wall.
The ride cymbal reminded me of the metal trash can lid from back in the day. Eh! However the Wuhan splash was my favorite & sounded more useful than the others.
It was fun to watch anyway! Nice blast beats, & ingenious way to play that wave "thing"!
That 18" masterworks sounds surprisingly good, dang
Love the contrasting tones of the splashes. They really played off each other in that groove
The first cymbal with that has herpes sounds pretty badass. Sounds like it’d go well with like Riddim or something else really bass heavy.
6:38 🤣 Now I want a V-Wave cymbal just so I can do this!
I get the love for dry cymbals … but I love when cymbals sing and sound sparkly
No joke, this video hit on all cylinders. Rad and hilarious! Thanks for creating this content
That first beat you played with the rocktagon hi hats and the CP was AMAZING
Someone is using felts again 😂😂😂
Never would I ever thought I'd hear a blastbeat on this channel. Nice 👍
Yo the crash of doom can easily swan in as a djent China sound. Super sick
Wow, that first one... the one dude on Earth who bought it must be thrilled... hopefully.
I mean, besides you!
The Linear pentagon sounded pretty cool.
That weird thing would have been great with Lars Ulrichs St. Anger snare.
we need more David playing blasts!
Love it. That made my weekend!
Hey David, great video funny as always. Also good work getting in shape, looking good brother!
the rocktagon hi-hats sound like if chinas could be hi-hats and i low key love that????
Bru now all I wanna play is trashy sounding cymbals! Love that ride, I would definitely try to get it in some music. Keep up the good work dude
That was a fun day with interesting cymbals. Percussion is a wide open artists landscape. I'd use the dry ride for special effects, movie soundtrack bites, including the wave/curved cymbal. All very cool but I'd say my favorite is the crash of doom.

Loved you brought out some blasts! A historical moment indeed.
seeing david play metal is so entertaining lmao
I know this is all about cymbals... but this is an appreciation comment for that snare.
