The Greatest “National Anthem” ever sung, Master Willie K 🤙🏽
This rendition was spectacular especially because he was very sick and going through lung cancer...now that is what you call an entertainer, not those singers that use auto tune to cover up their voices...thank you uncle Willie for blessing us with your talents and giving us your music, laughter and fun memories...
We were there that evening sitting in the blue section in the back ground. Hawaii took a beating that night, but the highlight was Willy K rendition. Those who knew of him would know he performed outside the box. At first we were like “huh”, but then we were like heck yah you go brother! The speakers in the stadium were so clear and loud that it gave us chicken skin. RIP brother William Kahaialii. 🙏🏼
I was working at Aloha Stadium that day. I remember hearing this and thinking it was the best rendition of our national anthem I ever heard. It still is the best.
You can tell the band member on the left of him... knew something special was happening. You definitely can tell Willie touched that person's heart.

You do not improvise with anyone's National Anthem and "make it your own" as singer's do when they take license with commercial tunes. This is disrespectful and ignorant, even though Willie K. did not mean to be. Not one single note was that of the American National Anthem. It was unrecognizable. How come Willie K does not do that with aHawaiian somgs--change every note?
