    when I was in collision repair school, they taught us to cut runs with the blade 90° to the panel and drag it..NEW BLADES ALWAYS.. don't know if this is relevant or can help some people..this technique can get you real close to flat first before sanding

    • @ReveMoto
      @ReveMoto  6 месяцев назад +2

      For sure, new blades. Need that cut to be precise to make sure you don't hurt yourself too

    That's sweet brotha! If you can paint, and also fix defects you are a master haha. I do both, and both are totally different! Paint correction is a pain in the mass 😂

    • @ReveMoto
      @ReveMoto  7 месяцев назад +2

      Right both is an artform and takes years to even come close to mastering. Thank you for watching. If you need any touchup paint or painted autobody parts go to www.ReveMoto.com

    I used to work in a garage and the painters used to cut a 2 cm piece off a panel beaters metal body file and lightly run it over the run and it would take the peaks off the run but leave the flat lacquer alone.

    @oliverscorsim 5 месяцев назад +2

    😂 i too got really good at fixing runs but man a slicked out panel looks so much better 😂 eventually they became rare but when they happen i feel like everything that week gets one

    at first, I thought the sanding would take away the sparkles. Does sanding remove any layer of paint/metal, or only if you apply enough pressure, and do it long enough?

    • @ReveMoto
      @ReveMoto  Год назад +23

      Hey there! The base paint (colored paint) and metallics/sparkles are usually the first few layers of paint, then on top of all that there should be a clear coat to protect the paint and metal (or plastic) car part. So to answer your question, if there is proper clear coat coverage on top, you should be able to buff/polish it without any issues since you're just removing the clear coat. Of course, if you keep going at it like you mentioned, you can burn through all that top coat and burn into the base/sparkle paint so just want to be careful there.

    I have some heavy spots and I can’t tell if it’s the clear or the main coats. How do you tell if it’s the clear or the main coat? If it isn’t the clear I’m assuming I’m screwed.

      Only way to know s to start sanding. But if it's not clear, it's OK just keep sanding it Smooth and reclear it. As long as you don't sand all the way through the base, you can just clear it.

    • @MrEaves
      @MrEaves Год назад

      You can use existing paint and varnish as a primer and paint over it. Just sand the surface you want to paint over with 800-1500 (try higher grit first). You will want to cover it with 2k clear coat afterwards, that’s it.

    • @ReveMoto
      @ReveMoto  Год назад

      No need to remove clearcoat. Sand down area with 600 grit for paint and if you clear coating panel. Use red scuff or 1000 grit rest of panel that is just getting clear coat

    Ha, you burnt through. It needs repainted. At least it appears you did. Either way I can still see it. And to anyone thinking this is a how too. It's not. You never should sand clear in straight lines, except on the raised area only. It's easy to fool people on video and pictures. But I guarantee not even seeing this video, hand me that fender and in 2 seconds I could show you where he did thisv"repair".
