Professional painter 30 years, he’s spot on about everything. He’s a high skill guy with no arrogance at all. That is the sign of a truly excellent painter. You never stop learning.
Paint Society I was watching you do clear on the red Honda S2000 and you walk your passes very clean. I’ve seen a lot of painters myself included that aren’t confident enough to do that more than two panels, really impressive. I’m self taught and have a pretty unorthodox spray style, you’d probably get a good laugh if you watch one of my vids doing clear, I get a nice result though. Really appreciate the content man 👍
You have no idea how good this video has been for me. I have been trying to paint some parts for a Motorbike I am restoring, but they were coming out really horrible. I watched this video over and over again and made notes. I stripped off all the paint of the some trial pieces, and painted excactly as you said. And the results were stunning. And this is me with a small compressor an Iwata LPHV spray gun and no skill. If I lived close to you I would come over with a car full of beer as a thank you
Bryan change my life , i was started watching all of his video back when covid 1st hits everyone staying at home . I buy a project cAr and did a body work on it but it was so ugly then i go youtube and thats the beginning of my journey , iam happy on doing body work so i fixed some neighbours and friends cars for free just because i want it to learn . Now i have 2 shop here in alberta canada and that because of this guy. Thankyou bryan i hope someday i will meet u in person i owe you everything and i will not forget that . God bless you and your family sir.
I was painting over 20 years ago. Did a job for a friend thinking yea I got this. Turns out. It’s all different now. I wished I had watched this and a couple others before the disaster. Lesson for those how read this. You can watch this guy teach for hours and it’s time well spent because fixing mistakes is really really time consuming.
Like the way you explain it because I painted my 93honda accord and within 7 months the clear coat started to peel off, this video will help me a lot thank you love it. 👍
I have followed & watched your channel for a while. Finally attempted to repaint my tailgate. All high flow fittings, practiced before I did a thing. Primer & Base laid down beautiful. Was very happy/impressed with myself. However, the clear… lmao… I had too much orange peel! I tried to wet sand & buff. Still not happy. I just re-watched this video.. & ya… I Love it! “Don’t Over Think It… It’s Just Paint!” I’ll re apply everything u have said, & just re do it!! Thank u for the motivation & inspiration to do this myself! You are AMAZING. I have a 98’ K1500 appraised at 30k & just want to be able to do this myself. Failure is NOT an option!
Just watched this video again. Like I did nine months ago. Reminds me to watch my edges and tighten my overlap a bit. I suspect the two hoods I have to spray will come out better thanks to Brian and Paint Society. 👍
I watch allot of your videos and like them all. I tried my first blend and clear coat yesterday on a friends Silverado rust repair we did. Well it turned out good because of your help. I did orange peel the first side because I shot it scared. 😅 By this I mean I turned your initial settings in by 1 turn too much. The gun is a mid level Harbor Freight and it felt like the knobs would fall off if I didn’t turn them in more. So on the second side I backed them out and turned up the pressure to 30. Slowed down and bam smooth clear coat. It looks good he’s happy shot it in the driveway and it all worked out. Thank you!!!!!!
Hi, thanks. I found quite some good tips here, incl. the solution for my latest problem, where the droplets were too big. Solution: More pressure (It did not help that I had a little leak in the hose between compressor and spray-gun - I swapped the hose). That and upping the pressure a bit on the compressor side solved the issue...
Absolutely love this channel man! Recommending it to my friend who recently started in the bodywork field. Hoping it saves him much frustration. Thanks man 👍.
You do a fantastic job with these videos I've been painting cars my whole life at least since I was 13 and it's changed a lot and I've learned a lot from watching your videos how to refresh my own skills I haven't done any production work since 2009 but I did some custom stuff and some of your techniques added to my own skills will definitely make There's jobs better and I could not think of a better way to train paint helpers by having them watch your videos congratulations! On a great job
I wanted to ask you I'm not getting back into the business full time but I do go help a friend of mine out every now and then and I'm not wanting to spend all my money on paint guns what's a quality gun that you would recommend in the 250 to $300 price range
Iv'e put about a cup of thinner in the paint gun, hold it to sunlight and make my adjustments. You can see the fan and the size of the droplets while making the adjustments. .
Brain I am a new retiree and a lot of time to do things I have never thought I could paint a car just watched your clear-coat video and you are the shit (about the way you describe every thing it the best learning video for a novice I've ever watched) hands down keep it up i am a plumber so if your wanting to know my trade im hear like I said I'm old anough to know the teaching efficacy Later I Going to watch next video I. Like to see you test harbor freight gun and what size compressor do I need to maintain 30 pounds pressure thanks
If you start at the top instead of the bottom the chance of a run is less because there's no wet edge for it to drip down and your oversoeay will land on the wet top and just melt in
Informational, but not quite what I was going to do lol I was going to use some clearcoat in a can (have to fix rock chips and rust spots and some dents)
Do you ever paint Harley's? It would be Great to get your inputs on painting Motorcycles. You do really great on cars. I have learned a lot. I have a old Craftsman 4hp 25 gallon compressor. Airbrushes, Iwata LPH80 124G for base coat and ANI F160S for Primer. Thank You.
I've just started using a gun but its a lvlp because of my compressor being 50l. What do you think of lvlp guns? I'm looking for a bigger compressor now so I can get a hvlp gun. Also do u rate any of the budget guns out there? Or are you a believer in ya get what ya pay for?! BTW I love that feeling of after you put in all the hard work and the paint job looks like glass. So rewarding. I'm actually looking for things to paint just so I can lol!
Señor Brian...a neonates here. Never painted a car, the droplet explanation was clutch, thx! But what reasonably price gun would you recommend. I hv a 1999 tj jeep to paint...and I'm thinking about applying primer, black coat, base and clear. can I just use one gun?
Hi , great video Brian! I want to paint the roof and quarter panels on my car, I painted it years ago in a booth but I need to spot in a scratch on the roof in red base coat and clear it, the finish I got back then has no peel in it. Can I get the same finish in my shed at home using an air dry clear the car was painted in glazurit with slow hardner? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have never painted out of a booth! Retired painter still enjoy watching the next generation and new ideas! Cheers.
Dude just found out about you thru a friend just starting out do you have anything out on mixing paint of different types and what reducer to use on certain weather changes.
Hi Brian. First of all, thank you very much for your video, it's a great help. I am not into painting car, but I am doing rc model boats and I drop the spray cans for a little 50l compressor and a couples of cheap gun witch work really well. Primer and base coat are not a problem at all but I had a First go at clear coat witch went well but as per instruction in your clear coat tutorial I don't think I waited long enough between coat, result I it's not completely hardened, let's say 85/90 % hardened. Will time do the rest or is there anything I can do to speed the process? Not sure what to do next? Your help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance ☺️
Ok I clear coated my car and it came out like sandpaper. The base coat was really smooth what did I do wrong? I'm a first time anything when it comes to anything automotive or painting I've cooked my entire life so this is all new.. my friend said he was really impressed with how it looked but has never felt a car go from really smooth to sandpaper(although it's even lol)after clear coat. Any idea what I did wrong?
Hey I’m about to send my SL500 to a paint shop for front and rear bumpers to be sprayed and blended. What are some questions I should ask the painter to insure a great result?
Hai Brian, I overspray clear on my hood and the paint flow down like a gum. What should I do then? Should I re-sand and repaint? Btw I am using the can paint. Wan to hear how you should solve those problem. Thx. Hope you reply me
Just a random question. What if I can’t find the same brand reducer/activator in slow for the paint I want to use. Can I use another brand reducer/activator in slow. Would that be ok?
