Next Time on Lord of the Games Night: Boromir corners the fellowship after Lothlorien with a squad of bad Gondorians on a mission from Denethor to try to steal the ring. But who is that mysterious bear-like figure coming out of the woods to the rescue? How long until ace tracker Balrog picks up the trail? Find out in 6 months probably.
The Defence of Lothlorien would be a good follow up. You could have a scenario where Evil has mostly hero characters rather than mooks, since the armies of the Two Towers aren't ready yet 15 years early... but they have the ring wraiths and a balrog.
Only issue is, unless they modify statlines baseline Elves outfight most Evil Heroes. So even if the Lothlorien side is all Wood Elves, with their shooting and fight value they'd destroy Goblin Heroes, Balrog would even struggle if he gets surrounded. Then on top of that you add in things like Haldir, Celeborn or Galadriel and its a pretty easy win for Lorien. If they go further and allow Lorien to use its Galadhrim Warriors and Guards of the Galadhrim Court, they are even more likely to wipe a hero heavy Moria army.
@@benhramiak8781 Elves are pretty vulnerable to any enemy that can get more dice into the fight, which is most of them. I think @hurmet is over-estimating the elves. The reason why they are good is that they have a high "Fight Value" which means they win ties, but Goblin heroes roll two or three dice, while regular elves only roll one, which means that the Goblins will straight win more often (a Goblin captain is values at 35 points base, while an Wood Elf is only 8). (The way fights are resolved in ME:SBG is that you each roll your dice and see who has the highest single value, a single 6 will beat any number 5s)
I like to think “Fatty” is a term of great endearment in the Shire, even bordering on a title like Champion. I think technically, in Hobbiton, someone called Fatty is held higher regard than a great hero.
I'm a big fan of Tom playing the showman rather than going all in on sweating. This game could have really been over by the start of turn 2, but Tom choosing to make the Balrog chill for a turn rather than just grab and murder the objective *let a game happen* which is nice lol This series is soooooo good, please keep it up!
They did mention that they did the Balrog appearance roll at "the end of the turn", from the look of the video it seemed to happen after movement phase, so I guess it couldn't do anything
@@RauMinsI think they are talking about Tom not charging the balrog into the hobbits when he had the chance to. He decided not to becuse he didn't want to kill the dog. But if he immediately charged into the hobbits when he had the chance it would have made it very difficult for any of the hobbits to go anywhere or get away from it and Tom had enough goblins to keep the dwarfs at bay. He also could have whipped anyone other then gandalf or killed angron on the bridge. There where a lot of options tom could have made to make the game a lot harder but he went for the showman rather then crushing the enemy
Amazing. I thought for sure more of the hobbits would die after a certain something happened to the bridge. The sheer tension of Farmer Maggot being the last one on the board. A true masterpiece.
Imagine, now that this is earlier in the time line, Sarumon isnt yet fully in with Sauron yet, and hearing/feeling one of his kind has been defeated, stays 'good', maybe even aids the Fellowship in The Dogkillers stead.
To be called "Fatty" Mr. Bolger had to reap plentiful harvests, be a good cook, and avoid exercise (exercise is a gateway to adventuring, and no reputable hobbit would go on an adventure). Therefore "Fatty" isn't just a term of endearment for the hobbits, it's a term of high honor.
Oh, that was hilarious. Scumbag Gandalf! Next time on Battle Report: Lord of the Rings - The Balrog pursues the Fellowship (i.e., Aragorn and his pint-sized pals) into Lothlorien! Galadriel is _not_ amused.
There could be a good Saruman since it’s a little early, and he could come to save the fellowship in Lorien as they are attacked by the pursuing balrog
I like this! And with Saruman remaining the White, maybe the blue wizards are turned evil? After they are dispatched Gandalf could return as Gandalf the Blue becoming a kind of stealth wizard!
@@thediethrower1803 I think of him returning being a kind of journey of the hero, going into the depths of hell, dying, & being reborn sort of thing. So, for my headcannon it doesn't work to return as evil (i.e. the LOTR divinities reward growth, not pure decent). I think blue could work because it's unclear to what extent they succeeded in their missions and when or if they were turned to darkness. So, he could return as a second chance, but still fall to the corruption. Or could triumph as good as a blue wizard. Or, perhaps most entertainingly, become morally ambiguous due to wrestling with his failings.
I think Gandalf should return, but on the side of evil. After falling into the abyss, burnt and near death, he is found by some Orks and brought to Saruman who manages to convince Gandalf to serve Sauron this time around. Gandalf makes his comeback during the 15 years too early raid on Rohan, as Siegemaster Gandalf the Black trying to take either Edoras or Helms Deep.
Since this is 15 years early, maybe Saruman isn't evil in this series, though. One comment suggested he could come to the aid of the fellowship to rescue them from the Balrog - subverting their original roles in a unique and fun way.
