- We spent the day playing Bolt Action, a World War II miniature wargame. Lewis plays as the Americans, advancing into German territory defended by Pyrion Flax. With assault troops, tanks, and heavy ranged weapons on both sides, who will emerge from the rubble and arise victorious?

This is BY FAR the best tabletop wargame video format that I've ever seen.
Highly approved.
Would love to see more.
I didn't want to click on the video because games like this can be hard to stay interested in. But this format is great. I wanted it to be longer even
Absolutely. You can really see the work put into the vid and it pays off; defo main channel content here. Also with the after the fact story telling addition it makes what could be 'a too long to watch' vod into something very entertaining to watch on its own in a more accessable manner.
@@massjammster7986 very true I agree but kinda wanted to see that void as well but I can see why this is better for most people
i dunno. i felt like whenever the game was interrupted with the post game commentary, it took me out of it. i would just like to see how the game pans out without so much information being displayed from the commentary
AGreed
The background color lighting changes from blue to orange was a good idea to show the game highlights and the commentary afterwards.
Oh wow, you're right! I didn't even notice it before you mentioned it
Oh! You're right that's brilliant!
Yeah its a subconscious thing, works.
Yes the more I watch the video after reading this comment the more I like the fact that they did this. It makes it all VERY clear.
I still have questions about how the same brick wall can change colour so radically.
It's like the Battle Boys are back again. More miniature games! They're always such a laugh with you guys.
Joe does such a good job!
♪ We are the battle boys

The US officer getting sniped while his squad advances without him is classic.
More bolt action please
ben is such a good game master for literally everything, really a master at work
The best shark
Pyrion and Lewis are making an amazing resurgence! Scrub casting and now MINIATURES I could die.
For real dude I live for this content 😂
Love bolt action, would love to see more
I would love to see a film about battle games on your channel :D
I could listen to Pyrion's German commander impression all day.
Yeah that was legit
As a fan of Bolt Action, I've really been looking forward to this ever since Pyrion mentioned it on Triforce
Just came here from triforce haha (I think it’s episode 181 or 182?), I also remember them mentioning Pyrion’s military toys>lego when I was peeking at the big 200. I just remembered seeing a vid on this channel with Pyrion and Lewis.
"A few more victories like this, and the war will be lost." - Ben, The Battle of Chateau de le Moumurmur/Claire Papignon/l'Eglise St Voiloustenoinounou, 1944 AD.
“If we are victorious in one more battle with the Romans, we shall be utterly ruined.” Pyrrhus of Epirus, the Battle of Heraclea, 280 BC.
If I remember rightly Ben did a dissertation or something of the sort on Pyrrhus? Could be someone else in the yogs but I seem to remember Ben mentioning that at some point.
@@geeksunited3873 #sjinfact
@@geeksunited3873 You are correct! It was in one of the Total War: Arena videos if memory serves.
ah yes the phyric victory so to speak or in this case the Pyrionic victory.
Thank you for that quote. I always wondered where the term "Pyrrhic victory" came from.
Pyrion 'Himmler' Flax: channelling a potent German accent fighting for the Reich before miscalculating a tactical artillery strike
Lewis 'Quartermaster' Brindley: sending his squad into an assault deployment with substandard weaponry and then blaming Ben
The more things change, the more they stay the same
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed pyrion’s striking resemblance
Sounds like the Paratroopers should have used more Hi-Ex!
just like in Lewis and Ben save the world.
Can't believe they actually got Heinrich Himmler to play as the Germans!
"For the best really. He was properly going to get court marshaled if he survived this battle." Power energy that.
Martialled
Nice to see some tabletop games back on Games Night. I’m also excited to see other wargames outside of Games Workshop being features. Hope to see more content like this in the future!
I'm not a boardgame player, but this format was entertaining and easy to understand. Thanks!
I always appreciate the production value and love that the Yogscast seems to give to so many of their videos. Always such high-quality content. Even without knowing a thing about the game or even that much about miniatures, I thoroughly enjoyed this video still.
Ah yes, bolt action. One of the most sleek games I've played in a long time. Always good to see more content like this.
"A bunch of Germans coming across the field with semi-auto Uzi's." -Lewis Brindley
So many things wrong and funny about that quote lol
Fantastic video regardless of my firearms related ocd
I noticed that too! XD
that one hurt a little. lmao
a very Bristol sentence
Yeeeah that one goes in a cringe comp somewhere lol
This format is really good. Basically the guys talking about the highlights of the game. Doesn't get bogged down with rule checks and anything they aren't sure about so it keeps the video going. i watched this one and the last 20 min game they played and was so dissapointed that there aren't more i can binge on. More like this please. Really enjoyed it
Your wish has been granted.
This format was excellent! You really should keep capitalizing on the the resource you have in Ben, a S+ tier tabletop wargamer.
Lewis looks more and more like some hippie/cult leader the more I see him
He's preparing for his next role as the villain of the next Far Cry game
@@russianbot7875 I can see him ordering around his henchmen and making decisions based on dice rolls
Maybe everyone is afraid to tell the boss he looks like an idiot.
I love these battle reports. So good. can't wait for more!
FINALLY! I've been playing bolt action for years now and I always wanted you guys to play it! YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS, I need more!
As much as i miss and prefer the live format of battleboys im just happy to see the boys playing tabletop/miniatures again. Pyrion is an awesome addition into the dynamic though and i hope that whatever format you prefer to create sticks around long term.
This was really fun to watch. I think watching the whole thing may have been a bit annoying, checking the rules etc, so this edited version was noice. Ta
I would LOVE to see more of this. The editing is simply amazing as well!
Love how salty Lewis is about his "elite assault" unit.
Can't believe they actually got Heinrich Himmler to play as the Germans. Top Quality!
Please, we need the Battle Boys back, these are some of my favorite videos to watch.
I love the mix of commentary and gameplay a lot
I'm really enjoying the new format on these videos. Very entertaining and funny.
I did quite enjoy the long videos showing entire game, maybe post an longer version somewhere as well :3
The way this was edited was so immersive
I know I’m reading this 2 years later but I did not expect to see you here lol
You guys should give Flames of War a try next! It's also a WWII Mini Wargame, but it's 15mm scale, so it feels grander in size! Definitely worth a go!
I enjoyed this greatly, I hope you do more.
You've absolutely nailed this format guys, it's perfect! 👌 Loving the war stories vibe with just enough of the dice rolling and banter cut in, very well done. Really enjoyed the Blackstone Fortress vid too! Hope to see more soon, maybe some narrative campaigns, 40k, Kill Team, Necromunda or some games of X-wing or Armada?
yes, the hidden other player, the heroic Editor.
Highly entertaining, which is unusual for die roll Wargames on video.😎
The RUclips algorithm doesn't like the other word for """The Germans""".
Love the war games content cant wait to see more
Honey, we need to swing by the hardware store on the way home. Need measuring tape, painters tape, and a door mat. Oh that sounds like big project? Yeah, we're playing WWII.
Lewis is rocking the middle aged bathrobe look.
Best thing about this is that they clearly had a good time, and we got to see the good bits.
This is the best series (if it continues) since shadow of israphel
i didnt know this was a game... gutted i didnt know about it earlier :D found yous after looking up some Victric models! and now i know how to really put them to use :D

Some people never get the point.
Are you doing tabletop games again?!
May I make some requests my good sir...?
1) STAR TREK: ARMADA - these were the BEST games you ever did on yt. Honestly Armada is so good and it was so cool watching you play with somebody explaining a bit of the rules as you went along. Would love to see a big game of this, maybe a 2 v 2.
2) An Age of Sigmar game! I don't you think you ever played this, but it would be great to see you have a 'classic' game, ie good v evil - something like Stormcast and humans v Skaven, or Duradin v Orruks.
3) 40k. Just because. Maybe an expanded version of whatever the latest release is, so they have just released a Grey Knights v Tzeentch box which would be amazing.
Other games to look at:
Battlefleet Gothic: Cool old style 40k space combat. Maybe call up Andy Chambers and ask him down to play!
Judge Dredd Miniatures game: 2000ad! Punk British!
Classic Battletech: Robots!
Elder Scrolls miniature game: Get some of that Bethsada sponsorship money!
Frostgrave: UNderground hipster miniatures game! Very cool....
That should keep you going!
the editing format of this episode was fantastic, a really great way to compress all the good moments of a TTG without the dull parts. would love to see the return of the battle boys in this kind of style
19:21 Lewis the entire game. The dice gods are fickle beings. Loved the Battrep, I like the new style of show gameplay AND then the post game discussion. But it also means we don't get hours of content, a small price to pay.
This was amazing! The editting was perfect, humour was perfect. Gotta get back into Warhammer with this style of video
Lewis is either 6 or 60 and I can’t tell
How much did all this stuff cost?
Bolt Action a great game due to the dice activation system, and you found a great deal of fun can be had. Nice battle report and explanation of what was going on. One little thing with the mortars its not automatic hit after a successful shot, subsequent rolls need a 2+ to hit. Hope to see more Bolt Action. new subscriber here.
Was going to mention this. A roll of 1 is still a miss even when a mortar is zeroed in.
Just realised they were using the 1st edition rules.
i was hoping for this video from the moment they talked about this game on triforce
I see the descendants of the great Generals both decided to become historians and are here to recap the epic battle
Finally. A real Minatures Game!
Lol.
Sorry Warhammer fans :(
I wanna watch the whole game!
I enjoyed the mixed commentary, live gameplay + post game discussion at the same time. It was far better than just doing live gameplay and then having a post game discussion.
Crossing my fingers for Warhammer videos
It’s tough to watch board games being played on RUclips in my opinion. However this format works for me. A nice mix of gameplay with their commentary was pleasant to watch.
I just imagine the German artillery officer hearing those requests for support
"Agh, mein apologiez ve are buzy dealing viz ozzer calls right now"
"For ze love auf ze fuhrer VE ARE BUZY. STAHP CALLING ZIS LINE!"
"Mein godt- FINE VE VILL SEND SUPPORT. BE VARNED, DANGER CLOSE."
"Uh hallo? Vas? YOU KILLED YOUR KOMMENDANT UND FLATTENED ZE CHURCH?!"

Tabletop war games \o/
I love this format, it's really refreshing and condensed. I like the idea of pulling the narrative out of the play session and focusing on the story aspect of the game. Also like long-form but it's really nice to have both worlds. Thanks!
Theres hot dice, and then there's triple 6s, along with wiping out entire squads in one turn. Makes me a tiny bit sus about the validity of the rolls, but then.....what would that accomplish? Its just a game between pals.
23:23 Also, yeah. Attrition is one of the many things that brought germany down. Their leader being a meth-addicted incel being another.
"The Americans are trying to seize this vital crosshold-"
*"USA! USA!"*
"-we must stop them..."
Loved this! But gonna be that guy and point out the Chaffee didn't enter service until autumn 44, should've been a Stuart
More please boys x
How about Konflikt ‘47 next?
It’s the same system but *WAY WILDER* stuff in it
My body is not ready.
It is an interesting game from the point of tactics, but the fact you laugh so much means the atmosphere of the game does not transfer the darkness and horrors of war.
7:13 - i'm new to table-top games. pulling out a tape measurer to move pieces is both hilarious and ingenious to me
They really did revive Himmler for a youtube video 2021 is been something else
Yeeeeeeeeeessssssssssss more yogs bolt action please and thank you!!
Love to see Pyrion get the game he wanted so much on Triforce
Enjoyable video but probably worth pointing out that you were playing the old 1st edition rules rather than the more usual 2nd edition.
I'm glad games night is getting more episodes, can we bring back call of Cthulhu as well?
With Games Workshop pulling some crap, This is looking like a better invenstment.
The format you deliver these battle reports is great, wish you did more
I really enjoy the condensed version because it adds some new dimensions to these vids. I do wish you'd still release the whole session unabridged so we can watch along as the game progresses and see all the silly little bits that are missed in this style.
This battle report style vid was great!
I like how they change up every battlerport to see what works best and I am here like "they are all perfect"
Absolutely top notch! Would love to see more of this style!
ey, the revival of double dragon and now tabletop games :))
Always love watching you guys play! You guys think you'll try some smaller skirmish games? Like Frostgrave or Stargrave?
Hopefully this will be the closest Pyrion is to being Himmler….
Very entertaining. Good job.
"You cant hit the broad side of a barn"
"But what about the broad side of a church?"
This is made so much better by Pflax doing the German accent and looking like Shaggy Himmler.
Can’t wait for all the “we want all 3 hours” comments
Awesome, any physical/live-action tabletop or board games from the Yogs are just the best.
I'm not even a fan of playing these tabletop games, but I'd love more of these videos.
"im gonna take it slow" without hesitation runs in guns blazing right after saying so, loved the video and i cant wait for the next one
Lewis getting that David Koresh cosplay going.
I dont think you get more dice with smgs in melee just the tough fighters rule
Love it guys, it's wonderful to see Pyrion enjoying it so much as well, as we know he really wanted to play this. I love the format, however I would love the full unedited battle to be watchable as well, maybe for members of the main channel? Cheers everyone involved in making it.
I wouldn't watch it but I'd love it to be available. Maybe as an unlisted video on this channel linked from this video?
This was a fun one, really liked the little details in editing and you all seemed to enjoy it!
Deeecent video! Nice/chill format & loved the overall highlights/recap throughout the game. More Bolt Action - mini games pls. P.s nice editing Joe 👏🏼
Even if it's from the older season, a great story and well played. Yes the FX are improved in the newer videos, but the spirit is the same!
Is there a way to see the full versions of these? 20 minutes isnt enough
B...Battle Boys?!?! It's a miracle
