when they both called the heroic march, the player with priority rolls 1 die on 1-3 it goes to evil and 4-6 goes to good. So Ducan's 5 would mean he got the first move. The tiebreaker you did only happens during the roll for priority at the start of the turn.
The unexpected deaths, and the bizzare instances where one little guy takes out a big character and becomes a folk hero are some of my favourite parts of the Middle Earth strategy battle game. I once had one goblin archer roll supremely lucky and take out Elrond on his own, and earned his name in our club's mythos...The Legend of Nobshakka is still told in the halls of Moria.
Nothing in tabletop gaming can ever be funnier than watching an elf who has spent five thousand years mastering the battle dance and sword arts getting gutstabbed by a goblin named nobsak with a rusty shiv.
All I'm hearing from this wonderful misadventure, we're getting: Wraith-Lord Frodo upon the dread pony. And Grip the Ringbearer dog (he cannot be compelled to put it on, for he has no fingers) Please do continue this, it is a work of art.
@@TeethyGuy Yeah seems most of the yogs don't want to be a bad guy. or turtle like the civ games. pyrion could do evil well. cause he is "old" and dgaf mentality. I like all these games. they play.
29:36 You just know that hobbit archer surfed on a shield down that hill as he took out the Ringwraith. Great episode, I can't wait to see where this goes next!!
In my mind he surfed down on a shield, but tripped and while flying through air, his arrow just casually hit a ringwraith to a weakspot in his armour and thus killed him. Of course, the hobbit would claim that he totally wanted to do that
Considering the zombies and kraken made it into the world war 2 games, I wouldn't be that surprised if Dad's Army becomes the other half of the Fellowship
This would be an incredible campaign. By the time you reach the two towers it's gonna be Militia Guardsman 3. who for some reason rolled so many 6's he became a protagonist after Legolas died.
We need this to be a fully fledged campaign! I would love to see boromirs last stand be played out, find out which b-character replaces on of the hunter trio or what happens to golum now frodos no longer there to protect him from sam! Great content as usual, you guys have absolutely nailed the miniature gaming video format, cannot wait for more!
Duncan: "I said it was my favourite, so you put two wraiths on it." Lewis: "That's right, I did, I'm evil." With a big smile. The quotes of Lewis are as always a great treasure 😂
This was just pure amazing. I can't believe how unlucky Lewis was but that end was just pure gold. I would say you guys made Peter Jackson proud. I would love to see how this continues.
@@Triceratopping Indeed! In the adventures of Tom Bombadil one of the poems therein describes old Tom going to visit Farmer Maggot, ultimately having a nice dinner and accompanying chat (before mysteriously disappearing in true Bombadil fashion of course).

That was an incredible story, please continue the campaign and also please find a hobbit sized robed figure for later battles, Frodo-Ring-Wraith must take the ring to Mordor for his new dark lord.
This would be such a fun campaign to watch, seeing the fallout of these events and mallet boy's corruption to the shadows after he was so tragically stabbed (shot) in the back
Quite the ending. So glad to be a member to be able to see more of this. The narrative aspect of this game really brings out the strength of Game Nights. Thx again.
For all you looking for a full series of this, may I recommend "Escape from the Bloodkeep", which, surprisingly, also has the witch king nearly bested in single combat by sam's frying pan. I have two nickels.
Imagine Glorfindel looking forward in time to prophesy the death of the Witch King, and foreseeing this complete mess as one of the greatest nightmares of the powers of darkness gets beaten up by some untrained halflings with a frying pan. He would have died laughing right there.
Holy crap this was so good! Sam becoming the new ring bearer after Frodo was skewered, avenging their best friend, and continuing on the journey in their legacy! The potential of Frodo COMING BACK as a ring wraith??? That'd be so cool.... Please continue this!!! Genuinely such a cool "how it could've happened" idea!
This was a truly awesome battle report. The Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game lends itself to grant a lot of cinematic and memorable moments during play and you guys play it very well. Would love to see a continuation.
I loved that IMMENSLY Ben, Duncan and Lewis ♥ Thank you very much for this, that was an amazing start for a beautiful adventure! HAIL SAMWISE THE STRONG!! HAIL THE CONQUEROR!!!
I've come back to watch this after seeing the "What If" Moria episode, which had me unable to breathe from laughing so hard. This series is EXCELLENT. Much joy.
Wild, just last night I was thinking "man I sure hope a new Game Night vid comes out soon", and much like a Wizard, it never arrives early nor late, but precisely when it intends to.
Not only my favorite setting, but this is one of my absolute FAVORITE game systems of all time; it’s genuinely fun to play and feels so immersive and thematic. PLEASE play this more guys
That's the thing about hobbits, you can learn all there is to know about them in a few months, but even after all these years, they can still find ways to suprise you.
I really love these battle reports and this one was extra fun. Love the alternate history version of the LOTR story and can't wait for the next installment.
Absolutely continue this I loved it, Sam as the true ringbearer is the perfect campaign being the true hero of the trilogy, I would love to see Frodo return as a Ringwraith for a final showdown at the end of the campaign lol
I know they play custome rules a lot for these little games but just FYI for the future and anyone interested in picking the game up. What Duncan did with the archers is 100% possible and good players do it all the time, but only if they are playing Evil aligned factions. Good factions can't shoot into combat, they wont risk shooting their own people.
that was fun! although I think I'd prefer to see the success before the table talk telling us about it. Like the killing blow; the actual play clip was much more dramatic than the cold post-game reporting that took away any suspense of rolling
Well this was awesome, and I'd love to see more! I remember Ringwraiths used to (at least in the Two Towers edition of the game) have special rules for killing them - they had a frankly silly amount of Will points (seven, or ten for the Witch King) compared to the usual two or three for big characters. They could use it as normal (spells, mostly), but also lost one every time they were in a combat. If it hit zero, that was them done! I wonder if they still have that rule. Also, turns out The Two Towers came out 20 years ago and oh no I'm old.
The Hobbits just charging and all passing their morale saves the Ringwraiths was truly something. I also want to see the mallet hobbit return on the side of darkness after being shot in the head.
So if you were following the rules technically the hobbits couldn't shoot into combat because they're GOOD and only evil forces can but it made for a funny moment!
Would love to see more of the Middle Earth SBG! Showcased perfectly in this episode, any character can have their moment, Fatty being the man of the moment.
I'd love to see more of these, I did a campaign like this as a teen once. I think I ended up replacing the entire Fellowship with random elves by a certain point.
just points out that in the books and movies, the Fellowship really got a lot of rerolls on their dice, at dozens of points the whole adventure could have failed. The literally won by the power of the script. 2 more battles and the rest of the hobbits would be dead, none of the non-hobbits have the resistant character to be a bearer, and the ring would be lost or back with Sauron.
This was a great video! The new Hobbit crew had me laughing as soon as Duncan said their names. Fantastic content, so please keep this going. Would love to see future events play out, like going through Moria or the Siege of Helm's Deep.
This is very fun, and I'd like to see more as the journey devolves into tertiary at best survivors having to fill the shoes left behind by the unlucky heroes and villains.
Amazing! Just stumbled onto this and was hooked start to finish, would love to see this continued into a campaign ❤❤ much love and thank you for sharing
