ZZ Top 'Live'- Dust My Broom

- Опубликовано: 29 авг 2015
- ZZ Top recorded in 1980 on the music oriented TV show, Rockpalast in Germany. Dusty Hill bass/vocals, Billy Gibbons guitar, Frank Beard drums. The writing credit for "Dust my Broom" is a little fuzzy. It has traditionally gone to Robert Johnson, but publishing of Blues songs from the 20s & 30s was almost non existent. The song was popularized by Elmore James "King of the Slide Guitar".

The old school blues has such a thumping rhythm, it just speaks to the soul.
YES !
RIP Dusty Hill. 😭
great singer DUSTY!!!!!!!!!!!
RIP Dusty!
And bassist, of course. Him and Frank kept that ZZ sound rock solid.
His singing is underrated. I preferred him singing to billy
Our band " The Shakes " from Brussels Belgium recorded a version of Dust my blues in 1967 and made it 3rd on the chart behind the Beatles with Hey Jude and ahead of the Stones... I was 17 at the time.....
Rock on in Peace and Love Dusty Hill.
Cried when I heard the news of your passing.
You always kept the bottom end Tight Brother!
Thanks for rocking us All night Long for decades!
✌❤🎸🎶🙏
It's a sad day when true rough boys cry

Rest in Power, Dusty!
I was shocked when I heard about Dusty's passing. Now he can jam with Leslie West, Rory Gallagher, the Blind Owl and the rest of the gang!
No he won't he's asleep in the grave now until the final resurrection
Plus Alvin Lee, Jimi, Danny Gatton, Johnny W., Jerome Geils, Roy Buchanan, Ronnie Montrose, Phil Lynott, T-Bone, Duane, Berry, Chester A., Django, Peter G., Boz Burrell, Glen C. Mick Ronson, Lester P., Tommy Bolin, Andres Segovia., Syd B. Whew! I know I forgot plenty, but this is a start......
How could I forget the four Kings?? Freddie, Albert, BB and Earl!!!!!
He stopped by Jimi's house first to jam with him and Johnny Winter!
Finally some recognition to Leslie west, well done
You know a songs good when can't stop listening to it. :) SHOCKINGLY GOOD!
A great tribute to the late great and still under-rated ELMORE JAMES!
Why, its not her song.
Robert Johnson
@@shayreno1461 But Elmore greatly popularized it.
@@progmeup but it s a robert jhonson s song so elmore james had a great tribute
@@vladimirluetic3144 According to Steve Frank, who wrote a spectacular book on Elmore James "The Amazing Secret History of Elmore James", some lyrics of Dust my Broom was already sung and played by Elmore when he was a kid in late 20's. Some people like Gracie Otes or Ruby LaFlore who lived near Elmore's home in the 20's even told they witnessed Elmore already singin Dust My broom. When he met Robert Johnson, they probably arranged it with some Robert guitar tricks. So Dust My Broom was most probably written and arranged by Elmore but with the great help of Robert in the 30's
RIP Dusty Hill 💔

Klephil 14 it’s actually a Robert Johnson song from 1938. Elmore covers the song.
@@dougsthang oh okay, thanks
Bad ass. Bad as it gets
Simply the best at laying down that soulful sound and bass thump to let that Les Paul ring out, combine it with the drumming of the metronome ride of Mr Beard, it was simply the benchmark to go by...
No wonder Jimmi loved Billy's playing.
Saw them in 94 with Jackie awesome RIP Dusty,,🥺🥰🥰🥰
To think I was stationed in the ol country when ZZ Top made this appearance.... I could have been here!

Greetings from Hamburg Germany
Love you always Dusty!
But damn that Billy Gibbons can play!
RIP Dusty thanks for the music
Wish all the African American originators of this music had profited as much from it as these guys.
Yes, that was a problem with some artists who didn't acknowledge authorship and publishing rights. To be fair, most of them did list the writer of the songs they covered, and they, or their families, did get the publishing money from recordings. ZZ Top gave credit to Elmore James for this song, along with Clapton, The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, and many others who did the right thing when they covered someone's song.
Dusty Hill
From the mountaintop straight to heaven.

Happy Heavenly Birthday Dusty
If I remember correctly from an article I read years ago Dusty was the one that added the Techno Sound and took ZZ in the new direction that propelled them into the stratosphere. Joseph Michael aka Dusty Hill was more than just a bass player in a loud band. RIP Dusty!
that is how it's done

😮h Fkn' YeeeeeYah!!! WOOOYAH!!! 👍-*
RIP Dusty.
Billy once made the comment he got into playing just for the blues!
That was true for a lot of guitarists from that era. The Blues they listened to as kids was very basic musically, and it was easy to teach themselves how to play it on guitar.
RIP DUSTY :(
Taimid grá tú Dusty!
I am so sad! Dammit!
rip big bro
Sad goodbye to Dusty.
R.I.P. L'artiste.
