And Britain had a huge love for the Blues in the 50's and 60's, which is how Rock and Metal came into existence. Pink Floyd was originally a blues band if I remember right. You are ver talented. I come back to this video from time to time to enjoy myself a Whisky while listening to this jam. Cheers from Argentina. Keep on playing!
Thanks ! It does sound busier/fancier than it really is. Each note in a chord is emphasised a bit more individually by playing one slightly after the other, than strummed together. This fills out the sound more - but I'm just staggering the individual chord notes out. Plenty of hammer-ons, pull-offs AND letting open strings ring out between notes and/or during chord changes - so that something is always happening. When you break it down, it's not as complicated as it seems, ONCE you understand what I'm doing BUT trying to explain it makes it sound even more complicated than it is !! Keep playing - because it all adds up to a be a better player.
Just saw this for my first time. Great player; good valance in your playing. Very cool collectible guitar, excellent sound for one that old. Thanks for making my day a bit brighter.

West Winds ......Did robert write it? i just learned there was another Johnson blues guitar player in 1920s or before rumors confused the 2 men and the highway 41....
"Dust My Broom" is a blues song originally recorded as "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom" by American blues artist Robert Johnson in 1936. It is a solo performance in the Delta blues-style with Johnson's vocal accompanied by his acoustic guitar. As with many of his songs, it is based on earlier blues songs, the earliest of which has been identified as "I Believe I'll Make a Change", recorded by the Sparks brothers as "Pinetop and Lindberg" in 1932. Johnson's guitar work features an early use of a boogie rhythm pattern, which is seen as a major innovation, as well as a repeating triplets figure. "I Believe I'll Dust My Broom" was issued before blues records were tracked by recording industry trade publications and, as with most of Johnson's recordings, has not been otherwise identified as a big seller at the time. However, Elmore James' 1951 recording as "Dust My Broom" "made it the classic as we know it", according to blues historian Gerard Herzhaft.[1] James' slide guitar adaptation of Johnson's triplet figure has been identified as one of the most famous blues guitar riffs and has inspired many rock performers. The song has become a blues standard, with numerous renditions by a variety of musicians. It also has been selected for the Blues Foundation Blues Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, and the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry."I've never seen anything that definitively says where the original song, I Believe I'll Make A Change, came from. Music houses of that time didn't keep records of such things. The above is pretty much the official version of things. Unless someone can definitely come up with either a recording, sheet music, or some other historically accurate evidence, then the official story remains as above (with no mention of any other Johnson, (Robert or otherwise,) being involved. I read something similar about there being another Robert Johnson, but it said that this second Robert Johnson was a guitarist of that same time frame who had nothing to do with the songs now attributed to Robert LeRoy Johnson whose recordings we have today. Personally, I thought this other R. Johnson was just an unsubstantiated rumor and I've never really believed that there was anything to demonstrate that he ever or even existed. History has long accepted Robert LeRoy Johnson as the one who took an earlier song, modified it enough to make it his own (triplets), and recorded it as the one we now have by him. Elmore James came along later, adapted this RLJ song and rendered a slide version that became extremely popular such that later rockers have adapted it for their own modern use. What we are looking at is the musical evolution of a song. ***

Don't be silly. As much as I'd love to get as good as Elmore James, both singing and guitar-playing wise, your comment is essentially, and unfortunately unrealistic. I have based the singing more on his 1951 Trumpet recorded version of the song but at no point could anyone in their right mind think this is better than Elmore James. You've lost it, pal. Great to see a national played with slide on open tuning. Guitars are like violins..you gotta play them or if not stick em in a case and they will rot in tone..keep on playing the old buggers but be kind,!
I'm a blues fan from way back when, and I always wondered about the significance of a guy who's going to 'dust my broom'. Then I caught it on a live Howlin' wolf recording. He worked hard all day, and came home to a dirty house. He said "baby, why don't you clean up around here? She said "clean it up yourself!". So he kicked her out and dusted off the broom, because sweeping the kitchen is a lot easier than putting up with a lazy woman!
Great performance. The intensity, funk and drive you put in are what really makes it. I've heard lots of covers of this song, and a lot them don't make it because the performance is too timid. I also really liked the ending slide flourish.

@@JAKENMK - I’m glad you like it !
I think I recorded that about 15yrs ago, on a digital camcorder, then transferred to my PC, then downloaded to RUclips. Not as great audio & video quality as you can get these days, on your average mobile phone !!
stunning, just stunning, peace and love from the uk....
@@geoffreyball731 - Cheers ! I’m up in Edinburgh !
HOLY SHIZ!! HAD NO IDEA that was coming! It's a beautiful thing when a personality that big comes through music.

Juliana Pereira just gave one for you, only question is how to get rid of the 535 idiots dislikes? Form a possee? Heeeeee
I re-connected with this and won't lose it again. Just fabulous!
You're awesome playing the blues! Hope someday to play like that!
Greetings from Mexico! :D
Seen this so many times. Its absolutely masterful. Really kills me every time.
First time I saw this video I was 13 Years Old and it completelly blew my mind your skills with the slide. Now, as a 22 Year-old guitar player and musician i have to say it: you made it look so easy!
Keep playing - because it all adds up to a be a better player.
you got the blues in your veins my friend :)
Lol its just average hes not great
Dude, you’re fucking awesome! The playing is unbelievable, with a voice to match. It threw me on my ass when you started singing
So much respect from Italy! 🇮🇹 God bless the Blues
Just saw this for my first time. Great player; good valance in your playing. Very cool collectible guitar, excellent sound for one that old. Thanks for making my day a bit brighter.
Damn, i have to have watched this video at least 10-20 times, still blows me away. Keep doing what you're doing man, cause you're freaking great at it. (BTW this vid is kind of what made me pick up my first guitar, so thanks for that 😆)
Wow ! Many thanks for that.
Singing at the same time as playing is an extra layer of difficulty. Thattook a while but I'm still working on that - for many other songs.
Check out Elmore James' music if you haven't already.
Have you tried parlor guitars and parlor resonators? They sound super nice with slide or just picking. Solid, responsive but mellow tone.
Im in love with your playing and singing, such an ispiration...
Robert Johnson recorded Dust My Broom in 1932. Elmore James recorded it in 1951.
it doesn’t matter this man played and sang it better than both robert and elmore
@@Brembelia I heard Pinetop a few years back on nothing but the blues on Louisiana pbs radio, latenight Friday's and Saturday's.
I may have heard the song you are referring to,''l believe that there a time for a change''.
I have the complete recordings of Robert Johnson, have heard Elmore James version, also have ZZ TOP's Duegello with their version of ''Dust My Broom''.

KDHX in St.Louis.
You can listen to this station on line at kdhx.org
I strongly suggest to check this public radio station out the format changes every few hours. Check out their schedule there is many good programs on there.
No commercials. Paid for by the listeners when they have a pledge drive. I like the blues and they have several programs on there. They also have old Country & Western.
Plus other types of music some of the programs I don’t care for but most of them I do like.
Seriously, the best performance of Dust my Broom I’ve heard...Elmore included...Fantastic!
I mean, thanks anyway, but, you need your head examined !
@@snakehips81 Oi.....don't be silly. This is an amazing version. Hey man, you are giving folk an insight into where all this started. Big thanks Snakehips. I'm going to dust off my National and get to work on it tomorrow.
@@snakehips81 I went back and listened to the Elmore version a few more times. Got my head examined. You're right. You suck. My bad...
My comments was my way of telling you to listen to Elmore's versions, for the REAL deal. Plus, if I left your comments un-answered, then it would seem like I agreed with you. My comments were an attempt at humour but seems like you took it too hard.
All good. Sometimes what we try to convey doesn’t come through in text...Anyway, You’re skilled, talented and I enjoy your videos!
Be well!
Towel OFF!!! Somebody get this Man a refreshment.Big pat on the shoulder. The man got his chops. Much love from Dekalb Co Tennessee
sixty people with a thumbs down. Are you people out of your freaking mind. this cant get much better, can it. even elmore james would give this a thumbs. eric clapton couldnt cover this song this well
ummm exactly. Stellar!
Great to see a national played with slide on open tuning. Guitars are like violins..you gotta play them or if not stick em in a case and they will rot in tone..keep on playing the old buggers but be kind,!
bobby redondo , agreed.
Don't feed the trolls!
bobby redondo they know the song but don't know the blues
Wow he just came out with a gallon of gasoline and dropped a match and lite his soul on fire. That's f'ing mojo right there.
Great playing and some set of pipes on you. Well played sir, well played.
I like this cover so much! Both playing and singing. This is really high quality piece of art.
Thanks a lot for sharing it!
Man, this will never leave my video favorites list!! I bought an old National cuz of this! Well, this and Johnny Winter. 😁😄🤠😎👍🏻☘️🍀
Wow ! Many thanks for those comments !!
Such a powerful rendition of this blues classic! The best I’ve heard anywhere. Brilliant!!! Well done!
This warms my heart. The Blues lives on...
great song, great playing, great voice! :)
Oh HELL yes...the essence of the song, the essence of the playing, to nail it by channeling...that was beautiful.
This is just about the best version I've heard in a long time, nice tone! great voice!
Dust my broom means that your leaving town and not coming back
Insane, just superb! What a talented guy!
You gave me the chills man..
This man is a beast!!
Robert Johnson reincarnated?
Nah. But mighty fine performance!
Love it. Driving my 1949 buick listening to this regularly. Thank you
Great performance. The intensity, funk and drive you put in are what really makes it. I've heard lots of covers of this song, and a lot them don't make it because the performance is too timid. I also really liked the ending slide flourish.
this is so epic it never gets old to me
shh my gosh a jaw dropped moment when he start singing! This guys beyond talented
Shows the blues touches us all, especially in Scotland. Masterful!
Thought I saw smoke coming off the fretboard !
Dude,love yo singin n playing
the blues like it should.. love the song ,elmore james is smilin..but that national resonator walks away with it...been after one of those for a long time. Thank you
Omg it was such a strungle to find this video again :D. But i found it!
Why did you struggle to find.it ?
+snakehips81 Using very general searching words like ''steel guitar blues''. For some reason i just couldn't remember what the song was called.
