Used the Hydros pro for 2 seasons, and 150 dives an I love it
Pros: Dry fast, stick to my wet-suite, great balance
Cons: Both shoulder straps broke on the back plate attachments after 70 dives with 12 L alu for 50 dives and 20 dives with 15 L steel, Scuba Pro replaced it all for free with stronger attachments
Advice: Don't carry it over your shoulder in one strap on land

I use my Outlaw in the UK with my OThree drysuit & love it because it is so much more than the sum of its parts. It is a very minimalist BCD with no metal D rings, but the fabric ones integrated are good enough & placed correctly. The Outlaw is extremely comfortable in & out of the water & carries a 15 ltr cylinder no problem in reassuring comfort. There are no issues with the quality or robustness. I have done 50+ dives with the Outlaw now UK & Red Sea liveaboard & it is still as new. I have the trim weight pockets clipped on & they carry 2kg shot weight each. It packs flat for your kit bag which is a big bonus; most other BCDs & wings take up a good portion of a bag. One of the main points Mark didn’t mention is how easy the Outlaw is to get on. Because all the attachments swivel you can get it on super quick while others are struggling for help. The shoulder straps & waste straps have ridged support through them so the stay in place. The Outlaw is a quality, cleverly designed unit made for divers who know less is more.

      yea,
but don't like to use the fabric d-ring they are small, soft, hard to clip and unclip bolt snap underwater , so i add some removable stainless steel d-ring 😉

+1 for Rogue vs Hydros Pro. A lot of the negatives Mark pointed out are mitigated by the Rogue. Would like to see a follow up

Aqualung Rogue would be a better comparison also the cost difference is a BIG difference!

I have the Outlaw and it’s a fabulous minimalist travel BC which I use all the time and not just for travel. It conforms to your body and is not restrictive. I did a trail on the Hydros and found the Hydros plastic weight pockets and the shoulder straps hard and uncomfortable. They are not comparable in sense that Outlaw is the “baby” of the Aqualung range where Hydros is Scubapros higher-end product.

Will stick with my HydrosPro/Air2 for travel. Love the 4 dump options and easy to add options like Mako dive knife. Works for me.

I have the Outlaw for Caribbean diving. It's fantastic. I've used it in the Bahamas so far and on a week long trip to Bonaire. I added pockets to the waistband. It's like wearing a backpack...with an hour of air in it. :) LOL

I use the Aqualung Balance. It’s a great back-inflate (wing) style bcd. It’s fairly light weight, compact and travels well. It has integrated weight pockets and trim pocket,, metal D rings, has plenty of adjustments for any type of diving I do. I’ll strap on a pony bottle for Great Lakes cold water diving here in Michigan, and sure it will serve me well in the Bahamas tropical diving this fall. It does have a stiff backplate so it’s not as travel friendly as the Rogue or the Outlaw, but it will lay flat in my suitcase just fine.

Wouldn’t be the Aqualung Rogue be a better match up against the Hydros Pro? The Outlaw is way more stripped down

I have a hydros pro that I bought from u guys. Used it abroad and in UK personally I have no negatives to say about it at all. I inflator has to be seen to be believed, it's so responsive and very easy to control the amount of air you're putting in.
The material is instant drying and does hold well in place on your back. The synch cam band is a really good idea and is very effective. All in all I'm well chuffed with mine and it still looks like new

same with my Hydros, just been to Egypt,it packed well in the rucksack provided along with my dive computer regs and nitrox analyser,no problems at check in at the airport as rucksack looked well withing the limits ,they didnt check for weight as i knew all together mine was slightly over 10kg with go pro dive light ,im now opting to change all my hoses on regs to myflex as they are a hell of a lot lighter

I love watching @simplyscuba’s reviews, however I feel this one was a little biased towards the Hydros.
I think it would have been much more of an even comparison if it would have been the Hydros vs the Rogue. Simply because the rogue comes with integrated weights (optional in outlaw) and has multiple metal d-rings over the outlaws plastic and webbing.
Between outlaw and hydros they are in different leagues. But between Rogue and hydros, I thing rogue would take it hands down! Rogue costs less, same options as hydros, plus has built in pockets, weighs less and has same modular design as outlaw.

I’ve got the hydro pro had no problems done 30 dives ... the only thing I find wrong is the shoulder straps are very long once you pulled and adjusted them ... thinking about a bit of modification

I have a Covid19 belly after 2 years and had a real problem with keeping the weight belt on as I walked to jump off the dive boat. I may buy the integrated weight BCD to avoid this problem next time. (Or lose 20 pounds)

I'm way late to the party but that was an odd comparison. The Ferrari to Ford example someone mentioned was good, the Hydros is more than double the price point! A better example would have been the ScubaPro LiteHawk as it is more along the same market and purpose. I find the Outlaw to be an interesting BC though many seem to dis it because of the lack of D-rings. Regardless, thanks for the vids you guys do!

Got the ScubaPro Hydros 2 and hated it. I don't like the material, its on the heavy side, and feels a bit cheap. When you consider its nearly $1000, I think there's better bcd's out there. In my opinion anyways.

I think a harness and wing beat both of these options in both scenarios. I was lucky to have someone say to me “stop messing around with jackets and wings... go straight to a harness and back plate... trust me” had a trial and never ever looked back

    • @arowelly
      @arowelly 3 года назад

I have the Hydros & love it but have stripped it down & added a crotch strap.... So its basically the harness, backplate & wing for double the money. I wish someone had of advised me as they did you, but like I said the Hydros is still going strong so I'll continue using it for a while yet as I need my moneys worth. Next purchase is defiantly a wing & backplate though.

I don't get the comparison. It not the same thing. You sshoukd have compared two "traveling" bcdes. Or two "all around" ers bcdes. This wasn't a true "compare the two" kind of thing. BTW I personally use backplate bcd (holiis). Talking about "modular"......
