i believe kayla when she says she doesn't get told any secrets by the sims team. instead, i believe that the sims team only listens to feedback when it's in a powerpoint format
I feel like when they need a new pack idea the first person they go to is Kayla 😭 they just watch all her videos and are like “let’s see what she’s interested in now” and if she’s not asking for anything then they go to others 😂

Well, Deli did that and we got nice base game wall swatches. Granted, her presentation had a lot more, but it kinda worked.

i think her longest builds were some of her old ones, where she usually did like a four part mini-series of her building some sort of massive build, and she didn't cut anything out, so the videos were like 40+ min long.

This looks *exactly* like a lodge we would stay at during winter breaks when I was a kid. I live in Norway, so staying in the mountains for a weekend ski trip is really common during colder seasons, and the similarity is almost uncanny lol.

i want to go stay in a lodge one day but honestly the thought of it scares me 😭 idk much about snow but the thought of getting buried under it or icicles falling is terrifying
@lilacfields they do maintenance for icicles and there's back up generators at decent lodges!

I've never been inside a big winter lodge like this but being from Colorado you can see big lodge manors from the interstate and highways and stuff and this looks sooooo much like those! I'm seriously amazed at how well simsie was able to pull them off!

Kayla your patience to build stuff in the Sims is out of this world. I can barely finish a starter for my one sim so I just give him 0 simoleons and I go with the flow of making him suffer to get a fridge.

anyone who is interested in modding to get a hotel-like experience: I HIGHLY recommend littlemssam's auto employee mod that will auto generate spa employees, bartenders, vendors, etc. That way you don't have to classify your lot type to get certain employees. It is one of my must have mods in general!
Watching these streams were so fun
I have frequently put pools in the basements of my Sims' houses. But one of the problems with doing that is that you can't use them in the winter! One of the biggest reasons for wanting an indoor pool is to be able to swim in the winter. When you do that in the Sims, your Sims act like the basement pool is outdoors. I don't know how that would work in Komorebi, but in the other worlds, it doesn't work.
Wait, indoor pools don't work in the winter? What is the point then? I've just been building a huge mansion with both indoor and outdoor pools specifically so the sims can swim year round! Yet another poorly implemented feature in this goddamn broken game 😫
Did some googling: there's a bug report for it on EA's Answers HQ ( [OPEN] [S] Indoor pool has greyed out options in freezing weather ). Current workarounds are the geothermal lot trait from Eco Lifestyle, and apparently one of the pool colour options from Get Together or Jungle Adventure actually functions like a hot spring (which seems like a really weird feature to me).
this isnt the biggest thing to take from this video, but I'm so happy you are slowly introducing your cats to each other. I feel like everyone I hear from just tosses cats together as if that isn't a completely messed up way to do it. Thank you for taking your time with the process. Loved the build!!

I love when she goes off and uses any and all packs without limitations. Yeah I get some people won’t be able to download it but I LOVE seeing simsie’s build style without her trying to use a budget or a limit of packs. This resort is amazing!!!

I’m in the middle of reading Stephen King’s The Shining, and I’m obsessed with the idea of making this lot into a vacation rental and acting out the plot of The Shining with Sims. (For anyone unfamiliar, in The Shining, the family ends up in the hotel over the winter bc Jack got a job there to maintain the hotel on its off season. So, in the Sims you could easily pretend to do that using the vacation rental system.) It’s too bad I don’t have the Snowy Escapes pack.
I've always been interested in movie/play recreations in The Sims. How do you guarantee that your Sims will hit the plot points?

I’m guessing you’d have to put them on “puppet mode” or whatever it’s called when you take away their autonomy 💀 (I can’t remember if you can do that in the sims 4 because I’ve never looked for it in the settings but you can in the sims 3)

This build is just so cozy, I love it. I can't say I've ever been to a ski lodge, but I think you really nailed the rustic lodge vibes you were going for! It reminds me of all the cozy northwoods lodges I've stayed in or visited, and I mean that so fondly. Maybe I'll have to fill in my missing packs just so I can download this build!

Please don't be sorry for using lots of packs. You are so talented and it's nice to see you just branch out and use whatever pack fits with what you're building. Even though i might not have fitness stuff pack and/or other packs used, i am still downloading this, because i really need more community lots in my legacy save. 2x2 room, add the elevator, copy the room with the elevator. Worked for me when I built a fake apartment building. Sometimes adding an additional elevator kind of glitches the game and you can't save but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes exiting the lot with the elevators and saving works but sometimes it doesn't. That was several updates ago though so dunno if it works now or not but I still have the elevators there and it's a functional lot. The elevators are obviously only decoration though
You can also make fake and functional elevators using the portals from realm of magic
the first few hours you were building this i would drop in the streams and it felt like every time i came back there was another floor

With the new for rent pack you might be able to make this into a "hotel" that your sims stay in long-term! Like, move here for a couple seasons as a "vacation". But, if we're lucky, there might be a way to make multi-family-homes into vacation lots. It's super unlikely that they'd let us do that, but we can hope! And, if all else fails, someone will try make a mod lmao

I’ve got family that used to come here for vacation and when I was younger, they’d have me stay with them at the different Disney resorts and omg. The Wilderness Lodge was a DREAM. Entering the lobby was so insane, I’d felt like I’d teleported out of Florida and into the mountains. I didn’t want to leave. Obviously, since I live here, I haven’t ever been back, but I would if I could. It’s definitely my favorite out of all the resorts.
Kayla in her big build era let's go! This is such a gorgeous build! The addition of the ceiling paint also made this build cosier than it has any right to be. I would love to visit this IRL.
As a Colorado girly, this build is spot on! The giant fireplace in the middle of the lounge surrounded by big couches is exactly the vibe of a Colorado ski resort and I loved it!
The only thing I miss in this build is a changing room where you can store ski´s. In hotels like this you store your shoes and ski´s usually in a common, heated room so the material can dry when you are not using it.

this is gorgeous! what a cool build! i feel like Kayla really went out of her comfort zone and had fun doing it! also very much looking forward to the cruise ship build. glad to hear sewer cats are doing well, sorry to hear about your childhood cat (you'll just have to visit him, sorry!) also, this is just me, but i'm never worried about simmers using as many packs as they want in a speed build video. i build, and i typically use speed builds for inspirational purposes. like, "ah, wow, what a cool style, i bet i can make something KINDA like that!" and if this build makes me want outdoor retreat a little more, that's okay! i'll probably get it eventually lol

This build/video feels so nostalgic for me. Kayla bringing up Lifesimmer and the overall style of the build reminds me of The Sims 3 speed builds I used to watch and love for years before The Sims 4 eventually came out and I got it. The Sims 4 was my first Sims game on pc (I played The Sims FreePlay before any other Sims game which is admittedly an odd start to the Sims franchise) but The Sims 3 videos I used to watch and obsess over will always have a special place in my heart ❤️ Such good vibes in this build, I love it!

this build brought me a lot of joy to watch because my dad played the first ever sims game before i was born and one of the things he always tells me he did was build disney’s wilderness lodge after my parents honeymooned there!! i was even thinking your build reminded me of it so when you said it i nearly screamed. he had a blast building it and then eventually he passed the games down to me where i’m now 22 watching simsie build a wilderness lodge inspired hotel 4 games later. it reminded me that the sims really is such a timeless game series. thanks for sharing the joy to us with your builds, kayla! :)
I can honestly say that Kayla and Deligracy are main reason I have so many packs. Bc I see them use items or upload builds to the gallery and I want them complete so I wait till I can buy the pack. And now I work so much I barely have any time to actually play so I get my Sims fix by watching videos of other people play. Lol.
Kayla, you are awesome! Seriously, how do you do all this? I mean, if I tried to do this, I'd have to stay up all night for about ten years and still not be able to create anything half as good as this! Kayla, you are insane! I grew up in a skii resort town. I think you actually pulled up the one from my home.
The skii resort where I lived had a waterpark, spa, cafe, bar, library, gift shop, hotel (duh), gym. Skii rental (duh), huge conference rooms, a huge venue areas for weddings, and behind it there was a mini village with more bars, an old style candy shop, clothing shops, and others I never actually went into.
There was also a restaurant on the top of the mountain.
I went to the spa once because my mom was given tickets to it as a gift for being a generally kind and helpful person. The pool was so cool! It was a year round heated pool that was split in half by a wall, but the wall did not go into the pool, so you could swim under the wall and go outside.
So yeah. Just so you know what I know about.
I got further into the video. There are plenty of hotels with twins. Ours does have rooms with twins, single it was a family friendly resort, so the tins are for kids.
Living in a ski area with countless resorts i gotta say you did an amazing job! Only thing that bugged me was that you didn’t add a balcony near the saunas as that is a must have in those hotels ( to cool down after sauna). The whine cellar was a good idea as well as most places i know have them too. Good job

I've spent some time studying interior design and there is a huge debate about whether to place TV at the same wall as the fireplace. Lots of people are against it, as fireplace is a center object on its own and its purpose is to watch fire, relax, read and just be in the moment and slow down. But some are ok with it :)

Omg the twitch streams/RUclips videos making Kayla feel less lonely is the most relatable thing I’ve ever heard in my life 😂. Whenever I am cleaning the house or even doing art I ALWAYS watch streams or RUclips videos!! It makes me feel less lonely too!!

I’m only 25 min in right now but you mentioned that you have never been to a hotel that has single beds, and I agree I’ve never been to a HOTEL that has single beds, however every year my family takes a trip to a lake by a mountain that also happens to have a ski resort. Though I’ve never stayed at the resort we always rent a cabin and each cabin I’ve been to has had the main room with a queen or king bed, sometimes a second room with a queen, but also had a room with single beds or bunk beds so it could house more people, especially kids. I guess my point being here is the single beds are totally valid
Love this scale. This kind of build really shows off your knowledge and love of the game.
And ditto on the ceilings - I was just playing in Granite Falls and was hoping they’ll do an update w/ the undersides painted.
When you talked about elevators it reminded me of the Red Bar Hotel DrGluon made for his original Hotel Challenge. In all his creative cleverness he made a hilarious “elevator” that was just a 4 floor empty shaft with no floors or ceilings and a giant ladder from top to bottom 😂 the elevator was out of order but don’t worry there’s a ladder for your convenience. That original hotel challenge was one of my favorite sims series I’ve ever seen

I think it has to be annoying for Kayla to explain in every video how she doesn't know about any new pack, people seriously don't get how contracts and relationships with companies work. If she knew she couldn't say a word, so we would definitely not see a video about it. I think Sims team is more like checking her and other creators' videos so they know what we all want, and for inspo. And I don't blame them, after 9 years you kinda are out of ideas, and they should already give up but it's too good source of big money for EA.
I know this sounds like a dramatic thing to say about a sims build, but Kayla this is a masterpiece. I hope you are proud!! I loved hearing you brag about this build a little bit in this video. Can't wait to see you play with it!
