    The fx line has been my favorite ever since I got mine back in the spring of ‘19. Super reliable, comfortable and, with a planned tire change on my personal one, quick! I also think the geometry is a good balance between being upright like the Sirrus but also sporty and aggressive like the Escape. Recently just flipped my stem for more sportiness, but I’ve yet to ride and see the change. Well done video!

    I just put a deposit down today on a 2023 FX Sport 4 in white. My local Trek shop didn’t have one in stock so they’re having it brought in from another location.
    If they offered the Sport 5 in the same white color, I would have gone for that. I just don’t really care for the red and blue options. Now the only niggling feeling I’m having is about whether I should just drop the extra $1,000 on the FX Sport 6 and get that sweet black paint job, the higher end mech and the carbon wheels. It’s a pretty big jump in price though so I’m not sure yet.
    I’m really just a casual rider so I might just stick with the 4 and slowly upgrade wheels and components over time. It’s a tough choice. Also, when you start getting into that $3,000 price point, carbon bikes from other manufacturers start coming into the picture.

    HEY JAMES! You are an amazing critic of bikes. Love your honest, no bs approach. Anyway, I just purchased a 2022 FX Sport 5. What an amazing piece of bike technolgy. I'm on the portly side & I just can't believe how comfortable and how extremely well thought out this Trek is. I even got the carbon wheels. I'm 60 and I feel like i will be able to mess with younger rider's heads often when we are traveling side-by-side ('cause I achieve really good speed on this bike for someone in my advanced age bracket). My only qualm is the black finish. No matter really, 'cause i'll eventually spray bomb my new Trek in various vivid colors. I wanted the amazing new sky blue color but i couldn't get it with the carbon wheels. The 1x11 powertrain is utterly incomparable!

    Thank you for the fantastic review. I'm trying to decide between the fx2 and fx4 as the Fx3 is impossible to get at the moment.
    Would the fx2 be enough for commuting? I'm worried about the lower quality shifters specially.

    • @KaiTenSatsuma
      @KaiTenSatsuma 2 года назад +2

      The FX2 has shifters that are "worse" *relatively* to the FX4, but they're still quite *good* shifters on the whole though, it would be completely fine for commuting, just my two cents.
      Though - and this is something I'm learning after having gotten my FX2, is that if you're not familiar with the riding position you should spend some time practicing your turns and maneuvers. The position is good and agile but I'm not used to my center of gravity being so forward compared to my previous bike, so early on turning is a bit more tricky.

    • @scottrivkin3307
      @scottrivkin3307 2 года назад +1

      Just bought one 2 days ago, I think it's actually a 2023 model, or so says the Trek's website? The one in the video has to be a 2021. Mine has the Promax brakes, Also, they no longer have the IsoSpeed Suspension as reviewed at about 2:49 in the video(at least the one i have doesn't) and they no longer have Wellgo m141Pedals but cheaper Bontrager City Pedals and they no longer have the Shimano HG301 chain and now use a slightly cheaper KMC X10 chain. The Crank is also now Prowheel instead of Shimano. So, it seems to me they slapped on a bunch of cheaper parts for the new model. I'm no expert though. But in fairness the 2021 model retail is $1820 and the 2023 model is $1699

I stumbled upon the Trek and...well...it was in stock so thats what i ended up with. As far as i know, its completely fine but i havent had it more than 48 hours lol. Again im a bike newb, i just knew to look for shimano parts but again, not 1 retailer in my state had the bikes i wanted. I tested some low model Cannondales, Scotts, Konas etc..but in the end i felt the Trek was very similar to what i was after.

      @@scottrivkin3307 I believe your absolutely correct. The video is showing the 2021 FX Sport Carbon. And it does have better components compared to the 2023 model.

      I just ordered the 2021 model since it is on sale (surprisingly during this time?).

    Yesterday I bought a FX5 from my dealer, there was a medium on the showroom floor and I could not resist! Last year I got back into cycling after several years of dual sport motorcycles. My fleet of older bikes both my mountain bikes and my road bikes were 1990’s and 80’s back then they did the job, so I dusted them off and started the process of being a regular rider again. It felt great to get back in the saddle, but I quickly learned how dated my old 26” hard tail was and some time on the internet later I bought a 2021 specialized turbo levo comp. This was heaven!!! 1800 miles later and my stump jumper is added to the garage as a local trials trainer bike…..and now my FX5 rounds out the field for the pavement and the gravel because riding MTB can use the down day or two for mending and the road is great for just exercise.
    Your reviews are really well done. To the point, and detailed without going down the rabbit hole of tech. Keep up the super video work and thanks you helped me choice the trek, so many choices.

    This bike is incredibly ugly. I’d never buy a Trek bike.

      That's your opinion. I've got the fx4 disk and love it. I also get a lot of strangers complimenting me on it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.
