It was time for a change.... My parents decided to purchase themselves a new Chevrolet Traverse Premier. Once I found the one we were looking for up in Massachusetts, I had to do it! I had to make the 245 mile trip to go pick it up for them.

Well played sir, well played. You had me thinking you jumped ship.
Your parking lot isn't empty anymore.
It's full but still much less than years past as far as units on the ground. Currently have 77 new in stock half of which are Trax & Trailblazer.
I remember back in 2021 saying just wait till 2024. It'll be election year and everything will be good again
@@agger838are things good yet?
I replaced my 2015 Buick Enclave with a 2024. I could have waited another year but a major consideration for me was a 4 cylinder turbocharged in the 2025 vs a 6 cyl in the 2024. I have had no issues with the 3.6 l. No chance I would buy a turbo 4 cyl. Basically the Enclave is a similar package to the Traverse. I liked the Avenir aesthetics over the High Country. It's a matter of taste or preference.
bought my Malibu at that same dealership in Norwood back in 2014 ... good people
Good job Dave, you're a good son. Mom, and Dad should be very happy with that good looking Traverse. BTW, I think they made the right choice of engine. That little V6 is indestructible.
Except timing chains! Literally every 3.6 will need a full timing chain job by 40k miles! Look it up.
Nice job Dave I am sure Mom and Dad are really happy. I so wish Chevy was going to do an Avalanche again. I need to replace my 2014.
Hey!! Hope all is well with you and the family!
Congrats to your parents. Hope the new car will serve them well for many years to come
I love your videos..The traverse is a nice car. I'm sure your parents will love it. Lots of luck. The white is elegant and sharp looking
I have the same car in Sterling Grey and I absolutely love it!! Love the full body color. Plan on keeping it since the new '24 Traverse will not come in the Premier trim.
Nice work they will love it. I like the features. I have a customer of mines. Waiting on that newer body style coming in April. Gotta love Chevy
They need to make sure to stay on top of oil changes in that 3.6. It has very undersized oil passages that can lead to oil starvation causing heat build up around the timing chain making the chain stretch to the point that the engine will skip timing. KEEP FRESH OIL IN YOUR VEHICLES!! Don't trust the manufacturer, change your oil every 3k-5k miles.
Ive had a blackout elevation GMC and yet I still dont mind chrome....its still looks good and the black has been so played out.....purchased a silverado 2500 high country last april and love the truck
I wish my truck had the screen that lifts up for storage compartment.....pretty cool
Last of a dying breed, a salesman that cares, kudos to you!
That's a nice Traverse but I saw one of the new redesign on the road today. They look amazing in person. Just a shame they're killing the V6.
Maaaaan I swear that's the exact same one I want, the same one that was at the auto show! I'd keep it forever
Always liked this late generation Traverse. I hated the bubble looking one that ended in 2017
I remember just how fast these sold the first couple of years.
Nice looking truck. Hopefully you stuck them with the undercoat protection.
Dave my grandma bought a Malibu and she absolutely loves it’s a 2024 rs silver. I drove the Malibu and I wonder why they don’t have as many on the lots anymore!
Good for you 😀
The v6 has timing chain problems, very common
Hey Dave. Been a fan for a bit. May be a shot in the dark, but I’m hoping you’ll see this and respond. I’ve been working at an independent BHPH lot for years now and can say I’ve learned the trade well. I want to take a step up in income and status so I want to transition to a franchise store. My primary concern is not wanting to be forced to work as a “high pressure” salesman. I frequently sell 10-20 vehicles per month at a lot with little foot traffic so I can only imagine what I can do at a franchise dealer with more financing options. I do these numbers with a low pressure, “if they buy, they buy and if they don’t, they don’t” style. I give out OTD numbers and give customers a couple of days to think things over without fuss and it works for me.
Do you think this career change will work out, knowing this?
You can make it workout.. just try to find a dealership with a sales culture that fits your style. You will most likely have to adapt to how the store is run but once you prove yourself maybe they'll give you some leeway.
I commend you for finding the exact car for that customer. That’s why he or she is a repeat .
You had me fooled! 😂
😉
Good Job. Nice vehicle
I have a 2020 Traverse Premier just like that. It would still be my pick in 2024 not the 4cyl turbo version.
You’re a great son going above me on for your parents I know that they would do the same for you
I'm still surprised Schumacher's gone so all-in on Chevrolet without diversifying, even within GM. With all you've done for Chevy I'd think GM corporate would be trying to get them to put you in a multiline showroom with Buick, GMC and Cadillac as well.
Feel sorry for anyone stuck with “green” turbo engines.
I hope GM doesn't get rid of their chrome trim with the gold bowtie, I love that look but I really don't like the blacked out trim. I'm in my 20s.
I looking at trailblazer equinox hope they good
Is your dad going to trade his 2011 Silverado? That is a beautiful truck.
nope, they are keeping it.
Dave B comes through 💯🇺🇸👍🏻
Display on dash says trip average was 57.5 mph.
I wondered why a customer who only purchases a vehicle every ten years was your favorite customer, but then when you mentioned it was for your parents I understood.
Very disappointed the 24’s did away with the V6. In fact, there should even be a V8 option for the size and weight of this vehicle.
Just wondering what mileage did you get with the 2.7 Silverado?
When can we order the new traverse rs I know it’s coming out soon
You can place orders now. We have our first 4 being built next week.
@@DaveBsellsChevy are you in the store tomorrow and I’m in Florida I can order it through you correct
@@LanceHoward-u1b shoot me an email: dave@schumacherlivingston.com
I hope that you will take care of me like that I will be stopping by to order my 2025 equinox AWD LT if you can let me know when orders start the awd will have an automatic turns. 😂😂
Should be able to start ordering those in the next month or so
What was the mpg on the 2FL truck?
I didn't look when I got there but about halfway it was at 21 mpg.. I never drove the 2.7 Turbo that far before. I was impressed!
As sales person do you know where that 3.6 liter engine comes from?
Wow I was right 👍🏻
Red pretty
I don’t want to sound mean but would you do that for anyone? I feel like there was a little bit more effort since it’s your parents purchasing the vehicle
Dave’s parents wouldn’t dare buy a different brand. Lol
Not a chevy guy but not bad. I'll stick with my mach e though
I had the 3.6 engine in my 2010 impala it's an iron horse
2010 Impalas didn't come with the 3.6
yes i made a mistake it was a 3.5
My son and his wife have a Traverse Red line and love it. Roomy and sporty looking. They also have a Malibu red line.
Sporty? Lol 😅
@@disneyfan9099 More so than just a Traverse Lt
Those 3.6 are garbage 😂😂
Lol, simply not ture
@DaveBsellsChevy every shop around town has gm product with a 3.6 sitting abandoned or waiting on a new 3.6 to put in it.
The 3.6 is not a very good engine..... Do not listen to this guy... he has no idea what he is talking about. Look at the reliability sites of this engine... Its the WORST engine
Lol, you are wrong
Timing Chain Trouble
Water Pump Failure
Excessive Oil Consumption
Ignition Coil Issues
Camshaft Actuator Issue
Want me to keep going ?
Sure, now connect those issues to the variation of the 3.6L V6 over the last 20 years. I think there were about a dozen of them.
Traverse is the biggest piece of Pooh that GM builds. Um that 3.6v6 is horrible. Look at all the complaints
But he 2024 is soooo much nicer
I don't buy white or black vehicles
First
27 MPG on the highway... very impressive, Dave!!! I like how you started the video saying that this was for your best-ever customer... and later revealed it was for your parents! Hey, if you can't take care of THEM...
Don’t trust that engine… I know things happen but , ours at 12,000 9 months after delivery half of then engine needed to be rebuilt paying 3 months of payments while it was in the shop
Nice job, you have to take care of Mom & Dad. The vehicle looks really sharp too. We've got a 2020 Traverse, and they're going to love it.
Nice! glad you are enjoying your 2020!
3.6 liters engine made by Opel of Germany.
It is most certainly (the 3.6l v6) NOT a very good engine. Just ask any number of mechanics, NOT Chevy sales people! Car Wizard of particular note tells people to stay away from it at all costs. Now, that said, for a brand new car that will be under factory warranty I suppose there's little to worry about unless they DO plan to keep it for 10 years. But whatever you do, don't buy a used, out of warranty, GM vehicle with one of these engines. One of the biggest issues is that on front wheel drive vehicles, doing a timing chain service/replacement is an engine out job, and is thus thousands of dollars to perform. Unless you're a mechanic and can do it yourself that is. I would add also that saying he's selling them one of the hold-over models rather than the newly designed one coming out very soon because of the v6 engine option is funny because while I'm sure he used that as his selling feature, clearly it's in his own interest to sell the old models still sitting on dealer lots. The new models have more features standard, have better quality materials on the interior and frankly, look better. Just sayin, he might not be entirely the altruist some commenters make him out to be.
Do some further research on the 11 different variations of the 3.6L over the last 20 years.. most of these issues have been solved a decade ago
Isn’t the 3.6 famous for eating timing chains?
did they fix the timing chain issues on the 3.6? They were nightmares on the earlier versions
3.6V6 is the least reliable GM engine ever built.
Lol, simply not true
The V6's haven't really shown great long term reliability?
I would absolutely love the new interior, but I've always promised myself I will never buy a first year redesign. I wound up buying a 2023 Traverse RS. With everything moving to turbo 4's, I wanted the last of the V6's...
I like the RS.. We recently had a red one here. looked great!
@@DaveBsellsChevy thats what I got! Radiant red. The nicest color GM has right now IMO!
@@NWI_Steel Nice!! Yes, the red especially in the RS looks GREAT
Did a trip from NJ to FL and where doing 30mpg on a Blazer 3.6 engine. GM engines are definitely fuel efficient.
I fourth going with the V6. Get them while you can. Seems like every new GM release has a smaller motor.
Yep, that Traverse is really sharp. Glad you were able to find a nice spec for them. I wouldn’t want the new turbo four or the Redline package either.
Should have brought them a Lexus.
2023? THEY'RE A YEAR OLD ALREADY. And the model has been changed. In the next year, this car will have the absolute bottom drop out of it...and with five year financing, they may NEVER have equity! Why would you buy a crappy Chevy that runs completely out of warranty, two years before you stop being upside down?
The V6 is really strong. I remember test driving a Telluride, then driving the 2nd Gen Traverse (ended up buying one) and it was night and day. Always shocked at our gas mileage in such a big vehicle with a naturally aspirated V6.
Agreed.. I've sold so many vehicle with that engine over the years.. very reliable
You say the 3.6 V6 has been used since forever. My memory is it was the 3.8 V6 that's been around for decades and was practically bullet proof.
THose V6s are tempermental engines! You have to change the oil every 4k with synthetic oil. These engines are famous for the timing chains stretching out if you dont keep up with the oil change.
I’m glad you mentioned the red line edition of the traverse because I am older and can’t stand the blacked out versions with blacked out wheels etc. but that’s the majority of what I’m seeing on dealer lots. Not for me.
Hey Davy I’m a subscriber and live in Jersey if I was to get a traverse as a lease 15k miles how much would it be.
I know the pearl white is nice looking however anything that happens the repairs are triple the price due to the two-stage paint job. Keep that in mind...
Well done Dave. Well Done!! That's a nice looking Traverse.
That's a beauty Dave, I wish them Good Luck with it!😊
Traverse with the similar price as Tahoe, awesome 😂😂😂
Lol, yea the base Tahoe LS with no options is like 56k. One at the premier level goes for mid 70's
+1 for Norwood NuCar Chevy, got my 24" Z71 Tahoe from them.
Sorry, you lost me when you said "good engines" and "Equinox/Traverse" in the same sentence. My family member had a 2012 that was an oil guzzling pile of garbage, even with oil changes every 3500 miles. Why these manufacturers are telling people to only do oil changes every 7500 to 10,000 miles ill never understand
You must be confusing it with Lexus, the biggest pieces of garbage on four wheels. I had two of them. Never again!
Timing chain issues were fixed around 2013 or 14. So for the last 10 years, it has been a great engine.
Modern synthetic oils are capable of long life spans. They calculate the ability of the oil along with the EPA pushing them to recommend longer change intervals but are also told to not take into account the contaminants that will make their way into the oil reducing its ability to lubricate and protect the engine. If the engine fails by 100k miles it is outside of warranty and people will buy a new vehicle so they can make another sale. Vehicles are disposable now.
@@joesinkovits6591- have had 7 Lexus, never had one in the shop except for routine maintenance…
2012 is a very long time ago. The Equinox is a very different vehicle now.
Traverse is the worst Chevy SUV in Chevy's line up.
How do you drive it that far while still respecting the break-in period on the engine? Arent you supposed to avoid consistent high speeds (like you are supposed to vary your speeds)
I had the same thought while driving home. With the hilly terrain and variations in highway speed the rpm range fluctuated throughout the trip.
I hope they enjoy their 2023 Traverse as much as we do.
An almost Scotty Kilmer worthy clickbait title.
Did they figure out the years of timing chain issues?
You should have told them to wait for 2025
No white no grays fore I like green browns
What a nice son
Like how u set that up
Man you had me fooled thinking you switched to another dealership lol
haha
Boost
Considering my wife gets about 13mpg [100% City] in her 2013 Traverse kind of shows how far big cars have come. Thankfully a tank lasts a month since most driving is done around town. We get closer to 20mpg if road-tripping.
That's great they found what they wanted! That does seem like very good gas mileage for a vehicle that large. What's the smallest vehicle Chevy makes today now that they stopped the Bolt? Is it the Trax? We have a Bolt and really wouldn't need anything larger.
I'm not sure whether the body-color flares and cladding make the outgoing Traverse look taller and stubbier than it should, or whether they make a Summit White one look less like a fleet car. Both?
Hey Dave, you mentioned 2024 are starting production. When will they get to dealerships? When can you start taking orders?
Nucar in Norwood is great! They just recently sold hit but family that owned it before (Boch family) was fantastic. New ride is awesome.
Haha I love it. First time on your channel but very heartening. Also, def good move going for the v6 while it's still here.
is that why you went to delware
It was Nucar's location in MA up near Boston
... And the # 1 son AWARD in the USA for March 2024 goes to "DAVE B". Well-deserved & ❤.
how does that work when you get a car from another dealer do you give them a similar vehicle as trade i assume
In this case they chose to take a 2024 Silverado 2FL back from us. So we swapped the vehicles and they cut us a check back for a small difference.
@@DaveBsellsChevyappreciate this insight. My local dealer is 20 minutes away, and the vehicle I want is at a dealership 65 minutes away. I want to support my local dealer, but I know that the other dealer will be more motivated to sell what is on their lot
I’m giving my local dealer a shot to get the deal done, if not I am going to the other dealer or to another manufacturer that is offering -4% under invoice pricing.
I stay away from GM front wheel drive CUVs. I recommend a Honda Pilot to your customer.
