Preparing trench for septic pipe | Utility Building Part 4

- In order to prepare for slab rough in plumbing we need to run the septic line from the utility building to the septic system. An additional benefit of the new septic line is that we will be able to dump the RV tanks directly into that. So we re-excavated the trench and filled the bottom of it with sand.

Grading bucket to dig a trench through rocky soil was an interesting choice. Looks like it worked though. All good progress!
Yup, it only worked because that trench already had been excavated (with a much larger excavator) and hammered out to the required depth. So this time the mini was just excavating fill.
The slope of the drain pipe has to just be right to float the slurry through. Nice work with the transit and excavator that greatly reduced labour. Warm dry weather helps too.
Yes, the weather helped for that bit! A few days ago it did rain pretty hard and portions of the trench that weren't backfilled yet were very wet.
Wow what an amazing job. The excavation has been amazing to watch. 👍🏻😊
Thanks!
Why such a wide trench for a sewer line?
It's a sewer pipe and few more electrical/network conduits. It didn't have to be that wide, but that's the size of bucket that was on the excavator. Though it ended up feeling nicer to work in a wider trench, especially in the deeper sections.
