- Our Ikea Kivik setup video ( • Setting Up Our New Sof... ) got a TON of views and you may be wondering how it's been holding up! So, here's our Ikea Kivik after 1.5 years - come see how it's surviving life with a family of 5 with 3 young kids - as a sofa, a pillow fort, a trampoline, heck, it even works out perfectly as a bed for my husband and I when we have guests come and they take over our bedroom! The chase isn't the best for your neck/back, but otherwise, loving this sofa and I'll say one of the best sofas 2020 and best sectional sofa 2020!
The key to the kivik is pulling the cushions a little forward at the bottom so they're on more of an angle and nestle into the small of your back. Because the seats are so deep there is enough room to do this. I You can also put something under the front legs to give it more of an incline and make it a little higher. It's a great couch overall.
I had a problem with this color, it was discoloring into an orangey tone, I think it was the flame retardant ticking reacting with my body oils or something. I also found this fabric pretty awful without a shirt on but was fine otherwise. I ended up putting a twin fitted cotton sheet of the same color on it in the summer.

I’ve been curious about this sectional as well. I really wanted The Uppland sectional but it’s never in stock. My local Ikea does have a Kivik sectional in stock however. I’m just not a big fan of the low arms. I like to sit in a corner with arm support.

Yes!!! 3 moves and (5??) years later, good as new!! My husband thinks the back is too short and not conducive to good posture so he’s not a fan but me and the kids love it 😍

We had/have… but little kids means pillows are often everywhere except on the sofa 😅😅😅 even the sofa cushions were/are often pulled off and used as forts and mini sofas 🙈

Oh gosh! I can't remember! We bought 3 rugs at similar time so either rugsusa or discountrugs.com, they have similar prices and styles, great stuff! This one didn't survive out move, it got wet and moldy I was devastated! 😭

What size is this rug? And there are 2 different (large) kivik corner chaise sectionals at ikea… do you know which this is? Thanks for all of your great info!
So sorry we don't have the rug anymore so I can't measure it was either 8x10 or 7x9 😬 and I don't remember which specific kivik we got but 5 seater corner with chaise. What I did was created Canva image using size of sofa and size of potential rugs (did the math to go from inches to pixels) to see how they would look together, how much sticking out etc. Did this with our beds too 😜

It was a few years ago but if I recall correctly this configuration was about $1600.

Can the chase be swapped on the ends when assembling?
I'm actually not sure... Best check with Ikea. I feel like the chase and arm rests gave different connections so you gotta buy the right layout? I could be wrong
I was just looking at this on the website, it claims you can change the chaise side "whenever you like", and the example photo there was the reverse of this one.
How are you still liking this couch? I think I want to purchase it - in this color - and have an Extremely full and active household thank God
I love it! My husband worries about our posture when lounging in it... You can see my 2nd update from last year I think I mention that.
