I’ve seen a handful of people saying they can’t get the hack to work to order online without the covers. Be sure to click product details and then scroll down and click assembly and documents to see the individual item numbers to type in. I hope that helps, and if you still can’t get it to work you can of course go into the store to purchase without the covers as well.
For the Farlov, were there 2 pieces you had to order? The "armrest frame" and the "frame for sofa section"?
I think they’ve removed it or we dont have this system in the uk. I can see all the product details but the frame means the entire sofa, they’re not broken into different sections. Maybe its worth going into an ikea store and ask a member of staff
Hi, I tried, but it didn't work as Emily said. I visited the comfort work' website, read through it, and tried it in IKEA US, though... IKEA took off the "removal product" bottom, so no longer works, unfortunately. If I am wrong, please update the information again. I am looking forward to seeing it.

@@monoomouashiyes, ikea updated as of February 2024. The assembly documents online no longer states article/product numbers. Best bet go into ikea. This was likely intentional. They want their money!

Yes! I am hearing, but sometimes struggle with contrasting sounds, especially with voices + music/noise.

Oh Thank you sooo much, i didn't even finished watching the video i just ran on the website just tried it here in France and booom for half of the price i got the sofa now ready to choose my custom slipcover!!! especially here i spend tons of hours looking for a sofa that shape and it is even non existing here, thank you soo soo much

Having a baby soon and finding it all very daunting. Seeing you sitting there with baby and talking about finding affordable things and moving makes it... doable. Not saying everything is perfect because lord knows baby life is chaotic by design but it made me aspire to doability... thanks.
Great video, I knew about this hack.
But here is another one for you, if the linen covers get dirty in time and you cannot clean them anymore, you can stil save them by dying them in the waschinmashine, linen would colour so beautifully. I do this all the time with linen clothing, it is amazing. You have to go darker, but still it is not all lost and still feels like you get a new couch.

My wonderful sister bought me this sofa (couch) when I separated and moved into a smaller place by myself with the kids and had nothing. It is now 6 years later and soooo love it still. It’s the comfiest couch and many friends have loved sleeping over on it, it’s comfier than a bed if you take the back cushions off. Great for naps too! 😴 I took the covers off a few years ago as I prefer the look with the feet and no skirt and have just had throw rugs on it but I’m about to invest in a Bemz slipcover.

This is so helpful! I spent months without a couch because of the shortages so I ended up getting a second hand Soderhamn sofa (parts of it, they kept some of the sectional for their move across the country lol) but they gave me the wrong arm, so I have one normal sized arm and one short arm. Whenever I have the cash saved I planned on upgrading the fabric to be more pet-friendly/stain-resistant so I'll definitely be using this tip.
I knew about the hack but only because someone on the customer service line informed me after being stressed about waiting months for my Uppland sectional from IKEA. I purchased the couch raw and bought slipcovers from a different IKEA! I want linen ones so I'll have to purchase yet another set from comfort works! Great video!

i was even willing to buy it with the ikea slipcover and change it but they are always sold out here, so again i am so happy i found your video
I’m in California and it is always sold out. The site is horrible too. One minute it states it will deliver to my area, the next minute it says it won’t. Sold out everywhere in the LA area. I called IKEA and they said the sofa’s are being discontinued on July 7th, so they aren’t bring anymore into stock. I searched for a used one and couldn’t find one. I was lucky enough to find it this week about 3 miles away and it’s only 6 months old. Perfect condition and I got it for $450. It has the grey velvet and I just ordered the linen covers too. Good luck.
Ooooo! I’m actually in the market for a new sofa. The one I have is a hand-me-down my brother had for more than 10 years. The cushions are done. I thought about slip covers but the cushions…. In my country it's actually cheaper to order the sofa with the cover included.
Example: Kivik 3 seat frame w/out cover - 520$ plus 450$-800$ for a custom made cover from websites in the UK and/or USA.
Versus: Kivik 3 seat sofa with cover - 849$
With the life expectancy of post-pandemic Ikea sofas it isn't worth paying the extra $$$ for a custom cover.
I bought a 525$ Karlstad sofa (now discontinued) in 2016 and it lasted 7 years. Bought a 399$ Klippan in November 2024 and one side is already caving in and squeaks. And, reading the reviews this is happening even with Ikea's most expensive (2500$) sofas - cheap material which rips, pills, shrinks after washing, and/or gets dirty/stains easily; poor frame construction; sagging seat cushions; back pillows lose their shape or stuffing shifts...
Such a shame really, because Ikea had a great reputation of building affordable, quality furniture and gave other furniture stores massive competition.
So glad RUclips suggested your video. This seems to be my story, I did figure this hack few weeks back when the only sofa I wanted within budget was farlov, only difference is I’m still figuring out which fabric to go for, from
the samples I ordered. I’m also considering few sellers from Etsy to order from.
I liked the white linen fabric too but it failed the stain test I did hence thinking to go for polyester fabric. But one day when the kids are older I’ll definitely go for linen 😀

Emily you mentioned the covers you got are pure linen and you paid $430. The pure linen natural is $669. The $430 is linen and cotton mix. Is yours the linen and Cotton mix?

I'm so disappointed IKEA has discontinued this sofa, at least in the U.S. It seems they replaced it with the Hyltarp. I don't like the boxier shape of that sofa as much and they no longer offer the olive green velvet cover I wanted. 😢

Just ordered my sample pack! So funny I LOVE my Pottery Barn couch! it is everything to me however I have been wanting to recover it since I moved to the Florida Keys; it is a blue slate color and that just don’t drive down here lol … and if we know anything about Pottery Barn you might as well buy another couch because it’s gonna cost the same amount as a the darn slipcover 😉

Hi! I’m almost 100% sure they are not down filled. Most likely whatever ikea normally uses (foam). Very cozy tho surprisingly! The fabric helps make them that much softer as well.

Thanks for this tip! I will definitely consider this when I purchase my new sofa. A reminder though the reason why the IKEA slipcovers are more expensive is probably because they are made with more durable furniture fabrics and with certain safety standards to be fire retardent and to not stain as easuly .
Personally I think their covers are arent great colours, v limited choice & a bit cheap looking . You can scotchguard sofa covers with the scotchguard spray & then stains aren't a problem. Bemz do the best Ikea covers .
Hi Christina! We cant speak to Ikea slip covers because we have never used them. These comfort works slips tho have held up incredible. Our boys jump all over them evert single day. No pilling to scratches. Stains come out really easy as well. Comfort works is a nice alternative if you don't love the IKEA color selection. Impressed!

I’ve wanted a bench seat couch for a while now too and am currently using a very firm IKEA sectional I’m not really loving. It’s not comfortable at all. I’m guessing this couch of yours is not a rock to sick on and actually a pleasure to lounge on yes? I’m excited to look into dealing out my stiff couch for a more comfy and beautiful looking one thanks to you.
The farlov is a bit on the firm side. If you want a bit less firm, go for the uppland.

I love it! Both the covers and the couch have held up in quality and comfort. We just washed our covers the other day and any little dirt spot came right out and now fits even better than before! Couch is really cozy as well. Deepish which we like. I recommend!

Hello! Do you find that the slipcover shoes the imperfections of the cushions without another layer over the cushions? Like - dimples and such? Is it smooth? Thanks🙏
Hi Solace! Nothing so far to be honest. They are holding up really nice with our boys running and jumping all over them. The main cushion slides over time and we adjust it but it doesn't show any imperfections thus far. We truly love them! Highly recommend comfort works.

How comfortable is the Farlov if someone sits right in middle to watch TV? That's my spot, and I'm wondering if the cushions on the back with split in the middle will become uncomfortable.

I like it more than our previous couches. My dad sat on it and said wow that’s way more comfortable than other ikea couches I’ve sat on. I felt the same way.

Have you washed your slip cover yet? Did they retain there size or shrink. What is the slip cover policy if they shrink on you.?
I haven't had to wash them yet but all that info would be on comfort works website and if not you could email them. They hold up really well so far. Couple water spills and it doesn't show! Thanks for watching!

Hi there and thanks for watching! We picked pure linen natural and love love love it! My other closest choice was the “every day linen cream”, it is whiter and beautiful as well. Comfort chenille cream, performance weave cream are my other picks as well! Definitely send comfort works an email and they will for sure help you out with any questions you have!
