We’ve had this couch for like 7 years in a game/red room area. It gets daily/heavy use by adults, teenager and a pet. We vacuum it often and flip the cushions regularly and it still seems brand new. Granted, we are a fairly slender family, but none of the cushions have sagged anywhere and it’s still very comfortable. We washed one cushion seat cover once because of a spill, and we didn’t dry it. We washed it for 2 settings and then slipped it back on damp and let it dry out under a fan, and it worked great. Now, if we would have dried the fabric after, I’m almost positive it would have shrank to the point, we wouldn’t have been able to put it back on the cushion....just an FYI. Highly recommend this couch for anyone who needs a large couch that will get daily use and have the ability to remove the fabric to wash, if ever necessary...
I have the same sofa since 2012 and I am more than happy with it and we use it daily. Its very comfortable and soft, seat is very deep, this is a sofa you can relax on it for many hours. I even added/attached the chaiz-longue later. The only issue is that the color (grey) is fading, not sure if its because the long sunshine during summer but thanks to IKEA you can buy new covers to make it look new again.
Hi, greets from Poland. I've been in IKEA today and checked almost every sofa in their shop. Kivik's the most comfy of them all. I saw that on other sofas (especially on chaise longues) you can feel wooden plates under your butt when you sit on the corner of it. With these cushions, nothing like that catches my attention. Great review. Thanks to it I'll purchase 4 seat one with chaise longue with graphite material. Looks dope for me. Really appreciate your video. Best of luck, man, to you and your family.
ÄPPLARYD, especially this one have problem with wooden plate on the corners of chaise lounge. I almost purchased one because of comfy seats, but feeling wood under my but disqualified it from my shopping list. Now KIVIK's my choice. :D
I have this couch for 3 years now. I found the chaise too soft comparing with the other cushions feels like they didn’t use the same quality memory foam for the chaise. Or perhaps is just the springs under the cushions. I had to add a piece of wood underneath to make it firmer otherwise my back gets sore. If you are a short person your legs may have to go a bit too forward on the couch and make your back a bit anchored which can be uncomfortable if you are sitting for a long time, adding some decorative separe cushions behind the back helps alleviate the problem. All in all I like the looks and fabric, like the idea of having a chaise but don’t think it was well designed/built. Like being able to wash and replace covers. Today would prefer to buy something else that’s more comfortable to be sited for a long time watching tv or reading.
This is the fourth couch we've owned in 14 years and it's the best so far. Love that it's washable and it stays comfy. Yes, there's a big rip, but you don't even notice it until you take the cushions off to wash the covers. Good family couch!
My only issue is it literally has no head support. It stops at your shoulders even if you’re not a very tall person so this definitely is comfortable but you can’t rest your head and really relax like I like
There, I found it, it's the UK site but you can probably find it on your country's site aswell www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/kivik-headrest-hillared-anthracite-s19325773/
Not very photogenic couches. Looks frumpy and tired. EDIT to add that we just bought this. The only couch I could find that would allow me to assemble in the intended room since our door way and hall were too narrow. So far, really liking it.
Hey there - not sure if you're active on this account still - question for you - how is the fabric holding up with your cat? Is the hair easy/hard to remove and do their claws get frequently caught on it? Thanks! appreciate the video
Still here. We’re lucky and have not had any pet damage. It really depends on the cat though. We did recently replace the cover though for a different look. But the original is still good.
@@platinumdragon7 thanks. if the replacement fabric is the Tibbleby let me know how you like it. Not a ton of info on the comparisons between the two fabric.
Yes, we got the Tibbleby gray. The old fabric is thicker and softer. My wife thinks the new fabric is rougher but I don’t really notice. You may want to visit an IKEA and feel them if you can.
thank you for posting, this is helpful to us as we are currently couch shopping. I've seen many comments re: the chaise sliding down - do you think wide velcro would work to keep it in place...?
When I purchased this item it came with 1 piece of velcro at the end. That bottom piece of velcro hasn't held up well. Maybe if at least 3 more pieces of 2in wide velcro were added underneath it may help prevent this from happening. But I think if were buying it again I would avoid the chaise. Because everything else has held up really well except for that.
The Platinum Family thanks for the reply. I actually went to go pick it up, and there were some stains in it so I asked for $50 and he accepted. The same day, I washed it with bleach and the stains came out! Looks like it’s all in great condition and I love how it fits into the living room. I think it’s an absolute steal at $50
@@stephanie-m8u $150 is still great! It’s a year later and I absolutely love the couch. The one I had before was also from ikea, called ektorp. The kivik looks better and is more modern
Hi there! Nice video. I have a question, how did you place the chaise to the left side? All i've seen except this one had the chaise on the right, and the instructions on the website also is shown on the right side. I want to change mine to the left.
Hello sofa people. I've never purchased a new couch, but now it's time, thus I'm here. The last one I had was a gift, a ~2000€ premium leather couch (didn't like the leather too much, so sold it eventually) Even that one, a handmade, real quality product, needed the back pillows fluffed every now and then - that is basic maintenance. You fluff the pillow you sleep with too. Just by doing that, you keep the sofa looking fresh. Just wanted to point that out.
Ahh, glad I watched till the end and saw the cat. How do you prevent your cat from scratching your Kivik? We're going to get a kivik today but we have two cats. One is a kitten that likes to scratch!

Your a amazing for these follow up videos. Thank you. You’ve helped me made my decision 👍🏽👍🏽
But it has 10 year guarantee, you should send it back if its ripped?

You can try putting carpet tape on the end of the chaise to stop the cushion moving.
That is a good suggestion. I will try it.
I just bought this couch and really appreciate your review especially after it's been used for a while. Wish you and your family the best!
I appreciate your comment!
Now I can't wait to purchase this for my new apt. Thanks for posting!
Congratulations on the new place
Is it better than Friheten?
Why don’t you rotate the back cushions
I have this couch and it has survived daily heavy use (with kids and pets) during 2020/2021 quarantine and that’s all I have to say about that 😂
Is it 3 place or 4 place sofa?
Is it good to use it for sleeping at night (with a mattress topper) ?
This is the chaise and love seat, so 3 seats. I’ve slept on it many times and it works well
@@platinumdragon7 looks like a 4 seats sofa, as it is long enough
I actually have the sofa and love seat now and am planning to do another video about it soon
My only issue is it literally has no head support. It stops at your shoulders even if you’re not a very tall person so this definitely is comfortable but you can’t rest your head and really relax like I like
You can buy a head rest for it, it costs like 45 euros (well in my country at least), saw it when I went to IKEA yesterday

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/kivik-headrest-hillared-anthracite-s19325773/
I never had this problem. I'm probably too much of a sloucher.
We have it up against a wall and I’ll stick an extra pillow back there sometimes for my neck if I need one lol
Good to see it lasts ok. About to buy one.
maybe you can fix with an iron on fabric patch
It’s the 3 seated? What’s the length?
Does the chaise have a storage compartment underneath?
No it does not
So the fabric withstands cats??
Thank you! Is your cat attracted to scratching the couch? We have 3 cats and I know some fabric they like to scratch more then others.
Nope, no issues.
Is this the two or four seat version?
2 seat with chaise, so 3 all together
For your piece that is shorter just fluff it regularly to help it keep its shap
What color is your sofa? I'm not sure what color I should get? Any recommendations on color, since you have the kivc.
Not very photogenic couches. Looks frumpy and tired.

I sympathize with the couch then. I'm feeling frumpy and tired myself.
It looks much better if you regularly fluff the back cushions so they dont sag and style with throw pillows and blankets.
@@jenp3752 Thanks. We actually just bought one a few weeks back so will keep this tip in mind.

Gonna pick one of these up for 80 bucks tomorrow. Good deal? Seems like good condition
How did it work out? Sorry for being so late but yeah. that should be a good deal.

3 seat. It’s a chaise and love seat
How did you wash and dry the covers?
They have zippers. Its easy to remove and put back on.
@@platinumdragon7 yeah, but what wash cycle and dry cycle?
On my washer I just use casuals, normal, warm water. Then dry on low in the dryer.

Does it maintain the firmness or after awhile it gets soft?
I'm sitting on it now and it's still pretty firm. Not much loss there.

Fun fact: Kivik is a town in Sweden and pronounced "Chivik".

Which color did you buy? Thanks for the videos!
Not sure what it's called now, sorry. It's like a dark grey
Looks like the skiftebo dark gray that I’m also looking at getting.
I have this couch. How do you wash drool stains out of it?
Water and soap? 🤔
Highlight of this video are the happy kids and cuddly cat
I just bought one and i hate it lol... uhgggg watching these vids to try n feel better
I know you bought this a long time ago, but why did you hate it? Do yo still have it?
Looks pretty good :)
That is a nice couch. Looks very comfortable! 😉
Thanks, it is. Have a nice day.
I think it’s the skiftebo dark gray
Thanks for a informative video - appriciate it al lot. /Greetings from Sweden
It's pronounced "Shaize" not "chase"
Chase
have a nice day :)
You have a nice day too.
its pronounced shezz not chase
Are you serious bro? I'm going to have to re-evaluate this. When google pronounces it sounds like chayze lounge. Language is so funny.
The cat sold me on it
Awesome, we're cat lovers here.
Your carpet is disgusting, it needs a good clean
That was rude
