"B=But Square got so lazy they only did Midgard!" Yeah no, to think we got such a quality game BECAUSE its only focused on Midgard is really impressive, so glad they took risks with this project. Each boss has many phases, music that gradually changed as the fight went on and overall an incredible cinematic fight to them, it hit me on how good it feels!
Weirdly, I found this boss to be the most satisfying fight in the whole game. Still challenging, but its moveset was intiutive (hide when it's throwing stuff, get away when it's screeching, switch between magic and physical attacks when necessary etc.) and it didn't feel like the game threw you into it with no warning. Like...all the ghosts are weak to fire. If you haven't given everyone fire materia in preparation for a big ghost boss, then that's on you.
Pro tip: You can beat this boss with 2 elixirs if you want. Just throw one whenever the boss turns red, you will know when its immune against physical damage. Then throw another one in second phase, also when it changes form. Just like in the original game with the Gi tribe boss om cosmo canyon. Another tip: you can pretty much instakill smaller Ghost enemies in train graveyard with the raise magic spell.
Such an amazingly dynamic boss fight. This one and Airbuster are the only bosses I come back to even after beating the game because they're so damn fun. God hard mode against this boss was so frustrating, even more than Hell House because of its attacks but would do it again in a heartbeat
It's one of those boss fights where the boss instantly changes their attack pattern as well as what attacks affect it at random. Yes, Kingdom Hearts did do it first as far as Real-Time RPGs go. Then SoulsBorne games as well as the NieR games too. You could also throw in hack n slashers like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising too. Ninja Gaiden maybe, but the series kinda went off the rails, but that's another story for another time.
Don't forget to manual save before the boss and please, please stay away from the door. Getting grabbed there may result in a very bad glitch that only loading a manual save can fix.

zXe You can gain proficiency with each weapon while you have them equipped, once you reach 100% proficiency with a weapon, you learn that weapon ability and it may be used while having another weapon equipped.
Ok, good to know there's an actual ending to the fight because i think somehow, when the ghoul grabbed the character i had selected, it just... clipped me through the friggin ground and put me at the end of the train graveyard section. I was so god damn confused
…and then on September 2022, a RUclips user goes by the name of bluesheepwolfie307 discovered a boss skip. This…..changes the run completely. It saved about 9 minutes. Overnight runners keep trying to replicate this skip. (Read that in Summoning Salt voice)
I feel bad for the Ghoul, he was being trapped by Eligor and only a second death was able to set him free. All that time he wanted someone to play with him...I wouldn't call the entire battle fun for the main characters though. At least he had fun. RIP Ghoul, we avenged your original death by killing Eligor.
Why do you have Elemental + Ice on Cloud's weapon when the bosses weakness is Fire? That's pretty dumb. Also, do you ever heal? Why are you waiting til your characters are already dead? Keep your characters topped off man. You should have Magnify by now, so why not have it paired with Heal? & for the love of God, don't cast Raise while a Boss is actively Staggered. That's the time to lay the smackdown, specially w Tifa & a Limit Break at the ready! Use Starshower first for the 70% damage buff then the Limit Break. This is some amateur ass gameplay happening here.
Worst boss in the game, such a cheap boss. Tifa is useless as any of her physical attacks are met with unblockable physical attacks from the ghoul that nearly wipe her out. Even the cutscene just before is annoying as to skip it you have to sit through a loading screen.
Tifa is utterly broken in this boss fight. You just need to switch between Aerith breaking him out of invisible mode with magic and Tifa/Cloud annihilating the crap out of the boss.
It's funny how Tifa looks like the tough one while Aerith looks like the girly scaredy one, but Tifa is the one hiding behind her.

Even the boss designs look amazing, they did a remarkable job with this remake.

I honestly don't get the hype. Music truly must be Subjective cus I think the Crab Warden theme is infinitely better than this.

How do you have all of your weapon abilities avaialbe to use from clouds other weapons including his buster sword?

Incorrect! Those are the Unknowns. The Ghoul only looks somewhat similar, but it's very much original.
