It always makes me really happy to see someone get into this series and watch them fall in love. I will admit got quite twitchy when you started talking about support Hunting Horn though (healing songs are useless outside Rise and it makes the weapon less effective if you focus in using items to heal teammates - basically it's not a very good weapon for support in the traditional sense). I'd recommend playing around with that weapon some more. I'm obviously biased in its favour, but it's a really fun weapon regardless if you've got a team to carry or not.

As someone who's been playing monster hunter since I was 10 in freedom unite I'm always happy to see new people getting into the series, even if I personally have a couple criticisms of where the series is going its still my favourite game franchise ever
And what makes me especially happy for you gamertron is (and I'm not sure if you remember making this video) world/iceborne is basically your dream game about dragon slayers come true and its that way for me aswell world was a dream come true for me
And if your wondering the video I'm referring to its this one

That craving feeling is a mood man, I had this happen with a lot of games. When I played and beat doom eternal I craved doom 2016 and other shooters in the same formula of arena fps, or like with Tiny Tina's Wonderlands I was craving to go back to borderlands 2 and borderlands 3, same with elden ring, various rogue likes, horde shooters, etc.
Single player or multiplayer vs bots (if the player count is non existent) I would love playing games I crave after completing a game on my backlog or a game I beat over and over again.

I can't believe I went this long in my life without playing them, I've only been in the community for little over a year now, but the depth and history of this franchise is amazing!
Unfortunately I suck at emulators, so I haven't experienced the older ones, but I *WILL* get there someway, somehow!

I havent watched the video yet but just on the title alone, I 100% agree!!!
EDIT: I knew about monster hunter since 2013 when I got myself a Nintendo 3DS and when looking in the store, I saw demos for MH3 and MH4. I played the demos and somewhat enjoyed them, but the gameplay mechanics never fully stuck with me. I saw that there was something in there that could get me hooked but I couldn't find it. Skip to the release of Monster Hunter World and I thought this was my chance to try it out again. However, as I was playing it, I yet again felt that the mechanics didn't fully click with me, and eventually I stopped playing for a whole year until the release of iceborne. I decided that I should at least try and finish the game, so I used guides and tutorials on the internet to help me and when I started to play again the mechanics suddenly clicked with me and I became addicted.
The more I played, the more I felt joy, frustration and accomplishment. I managed to finish the vanilla game then I look at amount of free content that the devs put out for the game and it just moved me in a special way. I've never experienced a game that offered you so much more value than its actual price tag of 60$. To this day, I still haven't found game that is SO consumer-friendly and provides me with so much content than Monster Hunter World does. Monster Hunter franchise puts every other AAA game franchise to shame.
I now sit in anticipation for Monster Hunter 6, my excitement cant be contained, I just know that it will have the same amount of quality as MHW if not MORE!

Monsterhunter world Iceborne is the only game in the world where I got to dress stripperific with five different armor pieces from different sets and gather massive amounts of resources at high speed whilst still running around as high speed archer. I spent most of my time as a male character gathering materials damn near naked while still looking damn stylish in mid thigh high armored heels, open front vest, and a daring bandanna mask with cowboy hat.

This reminds me how Rise/Sunbreak has been a bit of a more lonely experience cause my World friends that I still keep in touch with have not played it yet and will probably never will, don't know any IRL friends that played MH as well even tho I never shut up about it. Gotta fix that...

    "most important reasons" being:
    1. dude has fun playing with his friends online (occasionally)
    2. you can goof around with emotes, and arm wrestle (but those are just TWO of the CRAAAZY adventures you could have)
    3. has a bunch of different weapons
hmmm, if only other games out there thought of these things -.-

i mean, i mean buying the game digitally off of psn and copying the downloaded eboot pbp file to your computer, ppsspp can dead-ass play the game without any special hacking or pirating. infact ppsspp has bells and whistles like mouse support so you can move the camera with the mouse, and if you have a japanese psn account you can use a 60fps in portable 2g (mhfu japanese version) with said mouse control. the old games hold up fine, even the online mode from the orginal ps2 and wii versions have been restored, and those games run in 60fps off the bat, not 30 fps.
I think each game has something unique to offer, gen x is player controlled pallicos, 3rd ultimate is an expanded version of tri, Dos focus's more on a simulation rather than dps boss fights, 3rd portable is a middleground between new and old games, i have nothing good to say about 4th/4, world is for beginners, unite/2g is for brutal difficulty, tri is for splitscreen local co-op, freedom/portable g is for accessibility over its ps2 counterpart as well as offline play. Then each game has it own roster of monsters, maps, settings, story.
if you look at everygame, there will be one for atleast most people.

I haven’t watched the video yet, so I’ll most likely change this comment once the video is done, but here are my thoughts on Monster Hunter based on my limited experience for World:
I absolutely adore the story, world, and creature design/variety. But the biggest thing that turns me off from the game is that the game spends too long not fighting the monster and making the newcomer experience an absolute nightmarish clusterfuck of numbers and words that I have no idea what they could mean. I’m probably just biased, but part of me wishes that there was a free-roam open world MH title where I could just spend hours roaming around the game non-stop slaughtering dragons and/or dinosaurs to my heart’s content.

I loved MH series back in the day, but I didn't like the idea of being a poacher of rare magical creatures. Especially when they start limping to get away from you. Fun, but it bugged me in the end. I like killing enemies I don't care about, hate or don't feel sorry for.

Monster hunter is my "Don't play this. In game time: 1000 hours" game.
The game play loop is so satisfying. The monsters unique and terrifying. The arena bosses are epic and so satisfying to beat when that song hits. The variety and different styles of weapons and armor is unparalleled. Each game brings something new and different to the designs. Swimming in tri, the grapple in world, and the wirebugs in rise each make the respective game different and thrilling while still keeping the same loop from the others.
But oh god the grind. These parts with a 0.00000000001% chance of a drop because it's the last part of a set that you've been building. The empty online rooms save for those near end game. This all not taking the bs of monster hitboxes.

  • @sinu9226

ill be quite honest, i thought i'd like monster hunter rise.. trying the demo i found that's not the case. The game is waaay too complicated for my taste, and the controls on PC is TERRIBLE! (and dont say rebind because even then i'll have to use multiple buttons at once to do combos its torture and garbage) After hours of searching i didnt find any of those weapons appealing. Longsword was my first choice because i thought it would be simple, but its a hand cramp to use that, ANY of the weapons are. Dodging feels completely useless its way too short and it doesnt give you any invincible state, dodging monster's attacks are a pain in the ass even more so than a fucking souls game. I mean LET ME GET UP YOU FUCKING BEAR THING. I can see why some people like the monster hunter series (masochists) but.. i just CANT get into it its just that bad on PC. And im not going to learn to use a controller cuz fuck that.
Also the fucking consumables drive me nuts, like sure health potions are nice but FUCKING RATIONS TOO? AND WHETSTONE TO SHARPEN YOUR WEAPON? Not fun.
