There is an amazing version on the James Burke Tribute page, with Jimmy Burke, Ray Crisara and John Ware, composer conducting. Very very fast! And also great.www.jfbcornet.com/#!music
Speed isn't everything - rushing a piece takes away from the enjoyment of listening - every song has a correct tempo for playing - rushing it makes it nothing but a show rather than the enjoyable art form it is supposed to be.
Hawxchampion think this is a little harder. Carnival is crazy but the double tonguing is generally only in the second and third variation with the first one being basically fast slurring and tone and the fourth being that crazy split effect. Of course, there are many versions of Carnival, the Vizzuti (Carnival of Venus) is borderline masochistic.
Da'Joun Dotson carnival of venice is much much harder. All you need is double tounging (a fairly basic/intermediate level skill) and the song is a breeze.
I played this in our high school band many years ago. But we ain't never sounded like this! You have to "triple-tongue", which for obvious reasons here, is not an easy thing to do! This is the best I've ever heard it done.
Very nice awesome great wonderful Thank you for the best footage I am a saxophonist in Korea And I was in the brass band of the Republic of Korea Marine Corps
I loved hearing that! My mother bought me a trumpet when I was 8 years old when my dad was overseas in the Air Force. I played it until I was blue in the lips. I loved playing that horn. When I was 12 years old I played bugler's Holiday on a large family party. I'm sure it didn't sound much like that. :-) Thank you so much for posting. Fantastic!
+tjchervy Yeah, well, when you can play all three parts simultaneously on three horns, give us a call. In the meantime, you might consider growing another arm. :-)
PremierMilenkov welcome to the church of trumpet. A holy quartet of the father, the son, the Holy Spirit and miles davis. RUclips is just indoctrinating you, young disciple.
I cannot believe how tight each note was with all these trumpeters playing. There is not an even a slight deviation between them and all the time double tonguing. Talk about guys that just want to make perfect music. These guys are pro’s.
A friend just shared a RUclips version of The Typewriter Song, by Leroy (Sleigh Ride) Anderson -- my favorite composer when I was two years old! I was crazy about that song -- and all his other unforgettable tunes, including his best-selling Blue Tango. And so many others -- one of my favorite waltzes, Belle of the Ball, The Waltzing Cat, Fiddle Faddle. And this -- maybe my favorite of them all Bugler's Holiday. First version offered at RUclips this day is this one: with over a million views, the U.S. Army Band. Goosebumps. At the speed it deserves to be played but almost never is! Note: around 1:40 they begin to accelerate the tempo. Impossible! Thanks 'Army' for sharing. Celebrated at [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
I love this song. My neighbor down the street, who got 1st chair in the Texas All State competition, played one part of this as a trio in HIGH SCHOOL band. It was a thrilling performance and, at the time, he was only in 10th grade. AMAZING. Love this performance.
In case some folks don't know this piece of music this beautiful piece of music gained a lot of Fame as the theme music for the quiz program"As Schools Match Wits" that premiered on and ran on WWLP channel 22 here in Springfield Massachusetts for many years and which is now on WGBY channel 57 which is the PBS affiliate here in Springfield Massachusetts.
There is a transcription of this work that was made into a solo, with a single trumpet player with a piano or band accompaniment. The sustained phrases can not be played by a single trumpet player. However, the trumpet solo is quite difficult to perform. I did play this solo version with a piano player accompaniment, and I took the first prize in an instrumental solo competition.
Guest Artists Jens Lindemann, Tom Hooten, and Wiff Rudd (from your left to your right). International solo artist, Principal Trumpet of the LA Phil, and Professor of Trumpet at Baylor University, respectively!
great ♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪ ♫♪ ♫♪great sound! ♫♪♫♪ ☺ ♥ ♫♪☺♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪☺ BRAVISSIMO @bisbis 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Fabulous banding
Awesome performance. I heard this performed years ago by a high school band in Northern Indiana with Rafael Mendez as a guest performer. Went very well. Mendez billed himself as the world's greatest trumpeter - he WAS fantastic and in later years performed with his two sons.
Holy CRAP, that's fast!! I've NEVER heard it that FAST and that CLEAN!!
mellowbassman25 well to be fair it is the United States Army Band.
There is an amazing version on the James Burke Tribute page, with Jimmy Burke, Ray Crisara and John Ware, composer conducting. Very very fast! And also great.www.jfbcornet.com/#!music
And then there's always the Canadian Brass.
We played Bugler's in our 1st division school band in 186bpm :) I played 2nd solo trumpet
Speed isn't everything - rushing a piece takes away from the enjoyment of listening - every song has a correct tempo for playing - rushing it makes it nothing but a show rather than the enjoyable art form it is supposed to be.
Just listening to this makes my tongue hurt.
You should listen to Carnival of Venice then... ;)
+Hawxchampion OMG I remember that song!!!! We had to play it like a year ago me being the best trumpet everyone depended on me it was tough

YES THERE CAN P.s. trying not to dis your pride
agreed...
No im pretty sure last time i checked there can never be too many trumpets

Ladies and gents, it doesn't get better than that!
We second that! Alan and Marilyn

of course, it's a U.S. military band.
minus 0:54
Too fast!
I remember listioning to this on the radio as a small child in the 50's.
Me too.
@@bobjenkins6098 Me three. What was it used for?
ok unc
This is what any trumpet player should strive to be.
I haven't played that in over forty years.... Why do I still know every note?😂
25 years here 🙋 and I remember every note aswell! 😆
yes, me too. It was one of my favorites
Good melodies stay with you.
I do as well triple toughing was the one thing I enjoyed playing this!
Because Leroy Anderson was a genius.
this is one of the greatest recordings of this piece that I've heard, and I've seen it live.
This brings back memories from playing this in band over 50 years ago!!
When you're good, you're good. And when you're REALLY REALLY good, you're these folks! Bravo to the US Army Band!
This is meant as an exceedingly high compliment - LISTEN TO THOSE “BAND NERDS” GO! I can’t stop listening to this. Band Nerds Rule.
This is by far the very best version of this song. Very well done.... Excellent
I played this in our high school band many years ago. But we ain't never sounded like this! You have to "triple-tongue", which for obvious reasons here, is not an easy thing to do! This is the best I've ever heard it done.
Triple tonguing...amazing skill!
My brother played this back in 1970 during his senior year in HS.
Playing this for solo and ensemble as a trio. This is gonna be interesting
I LOVE THIS. AND I AM PLAYING IT IN A TRIO. THIS WILL BE DIFFICULT TO CONQUER.
Shoutout Jens Lindemann for bringing a cornet to a trumpet fight.
Very nice
awesome
great
wonderful
Thank you for the best footage
I am a saxophonist in Korea
And I was in the brass band of the Republic of Korea Marine Corps
I’ll be in playing this at my Christmas concert for band in December
i’m playing it with my two buddies for a contest

Thank you so much for posting. Fantastic!
Those woodwind flourishes in the background are INSANE!
What is most amazing is how that many can articulate so accurately and precisely together. Bravo!
I've used this as my alarm tone for . . . I don't know how long now.
The golden shovel sent me here
I grew up with brother that gone. he played Bugler's Holiday on his trumpet for our family
It certainly touches my heart
I enjoyed the fact that they were all in tune. Wonderful performance. Thank you Leroy.
It should be worth mentioning that Leroy Anderson served for the navy...
This is such a fun song to play - I did this multiple times in high school and have played all three parts. I still have my music.
+tjchervy
Yeah, well, when you can play all three parts simultaneously on three horns, give us a call. In the meantime, you might consider growing another arm. :-)
Kudos! One of my favorite Leroy Anderson pieces and performed to utter perfection!
Ling ling uses this as a double tonguing exercise in his spare time.
He plays all three parts at the same time.
never expected a TwoSetter here holy shit
Hello fellow Twosetters!
Not possible.... no way he wouldn’t be playing the whole bands parts
Brings back memories from when I could play that, but maybe not quite that well.
I've always enjoyed hearing and watching trumpets and trumpet players. A dear good friend trumpet player died recently. We played many gigs together.
This is the song I listen to whenever I need to be cheered up. It is my "Happy Song."
I was looking for a curry rice recipe, how did I end up here? :/
PremierMilenkov welcome to the church of trumpet. A holy quartet of the father, the son, the Holy Spirit and miles davis. RUclips is just indoctrinating you, young disciple.
You got the recipe of trumpet awesomeness
Just luck!
PremierMilenkov Brass soupbowl mix?
Another classic by the great LeRoy Anderson
Sleigh Ride. 😂
JBGamer87 My favorite by him 👍🏼
Fiddle Faddle.
BRAVO
One of the toughest pieces to ever play and then to play it so well with many musicians
BRAVO
Practicing this tune is how I learned the technique of double tonguing. It's been almost 50 years since I played it.
Damn thats the speedrecord, I’ve never experienced it played so rocketing fast. Like the 1 minute walse played in few seconds.
I cannot believe how tight each note was with all these trumpeters playing. There is not an even a slight deviation between them and all the time double tonguing. Talk about guys that just want to make perfect music. These guys are pro’s.
when you turn the speed to double the speed...
....all heck breaks loose
Plz don't kill us...! //the trumpet section xD

There is a trio of trumpet players (teachers) who play this every year at ISYM. I love it.
Playing this in our band, it is truly a wonderful song, and even better when you put time into playing it.
one of my Father's favorite piece when he still alive. he also a trumpet player in the AFP
I've been looking for this song for six years!!!! Thank god I found it!!!
Amazing -- that is some tongue action. Wow !! Hat's off to the military bands.
….can’t get over that GIANT contrabass clarinet in the back!!!!
I did this last year and I played third trumpet with a trio/tuba and piano. I want to do it again so much!!!!! This song is so much fun!!!!!!!!
…..das wird immer jung bleiben , Wunderbar!!!❤❤
I was introduced to this piece my freshman year of college
I've been trying to remember this tune for years. There was a Boy Scout or Boy's Club ad in the 60's that used this tune. Thanks for posting..
Masterful !! I played trumpet in the University Symphony at Florida State , this version is a GAS !!! Forget the cowbell , more TRUMPET !!
BRAVO!! THAT was outstanding!!
Tight! TERRIFIC BUGLING! A great presentation with a wide variety of horns played superbly. Thank you
The first time I heard this was in our advanced concert orchestra in 1963. I loved it then. I love it now.
I remember playing this in college a million years ago.
Just had to play Part 1 for this at an instrumental camp this week, so much fun! But also so tiring...
Try playing it at 150 bpm. That's what I have to do.
+Vance I did it at the speed they did in it in the vid...
Sounds like 175 here?
I love this
They can’t help racing as the piece progresses…. That triple tonguing is amazing guys!!
I felt that too.
One of my all time favorite songs.
Absolutely wonderful!
This is wonderful music!
Brilliant 💕🎺
Thank you for your service and thank you for sharing your passion 💪
Blow me like its Bugler's Holiday.
Jesus man
"Let's play army ... I'll lie down, and you blow the hell out of me."
*BONK*
Legalább 15 féle feldolgozását hallottam - szerintem ez a legjobb!
I've heard at least 15 kinds of processing - I think this is the best!
Hi Ray B.
Brings back memories of East Intermediate. They make the fast tempo look easy!!!
From an english brass band soprano player...nice! Extreamly well controlled!😁
20 thumbs down? What's wrong with them?
Communists.
It just proves that there's an imbecile born every minute.
Charles Love they probably can’t get the tonguing down.
RF_Extra so true
Too much digital distortion. So unfortunate.
If you grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1950s, this piece brings back special memories. ;^)
Dean Milano I did ( well, Pardeeville) but it doesn't. I was 7
Claire Thran It was the opening theme song for a TV show called The Sunday Comics. This would've been in the mid-late 1950s.
Dean Milano If I remember correctly, we did have a television but only received WISC out of Madison. We moved to Alabama 1958-1959. Sounds like fun
Three days of having this in my high school's Wind Ensemble, and the trumpets can play it perfectly at 3/4 the original tempo.
The background instruments makes the trumpets shine to their fullest potential!
brought a tear to the eye. 😪😎coulda been some herald trumpets out front for extra drama ;)
I played Bugler's holiday as 1 of 4 soloist with Valley Counsel Drum and Bugle Corps in Appleton, WI
Great tune for V.E. day celebrations
I love this song. My neighbor down the street, who got 1st chair in the Texas All State competition, played one part of this as a trio in HIGH SCHOOL band. It was a thrilling performance and, at the time, he was only in 10th grade. AMAZING. Love this performance.
Gail Mariage What's his name?
Tiffany Hoxie Alan M.
+Gail Mariage I'm in tenth grade and I'm also playing this song.
Tiny Rick Awesome. Keep up the good work.
2:03 is just amazing! In middle school it was the first quartet I heard but it didn't sound nearly as fast or good.
同じくルロイ・アンダーソンのシンコペイテッド・クロックも好きです。聴けてよかったです!ありがとうございます
Fabulous tempo!...and sound. ALBERTI

First song I ever played; along with the Stars and Stripes Forever that taught me all about double tonguing!!!
Absolutely beautiful!
This was the last thing my grandpa played on his trumpet before he died
I have to play 1st Cornet for this on my Community Band Concert in the spring. I'm a senior in high school 🙁
Perfection with brass🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
How wonderful! Thanks.
listening to this music, make my armature hurt. fantastic playing ppl. 😄
playing an instrument is a GREAT way to get through military service!
I think I see Thomas Hooten with hair 😂like seriously I think it’s him
L3MONZ3BRA Lmao it is him! Also there’s the guy from the how Yamaha trumpets are made Jens Lindemann
@@user-rn1lb8sx2c The cringey guy, yes. He is the only one in this video playing a cornet.
Just wow and full of memories so cherished.
That was so freakin clean 😳
That was incredible !!!
Leroy Anderson wrote really cool songs. This is one of those.😁
I was a trumpet player YEARS ago, and always attempted "double tonguing" the passage. This, however, far surpasses that by a long shot!
Ah the good ole days when I used to play this as 3rd trumpet.
There is a transcription of this work that was made into a solo, with a single trumpet player with a piano or band accompaniment. The sustained phrases can not be played by a single trumpet player. However, the trumpet solo is quite difficult to perform.

Surprisingly clear for all the trumpets!
Who are those not in uniform?
