I agree that this pace is just right. Any slower would spoil the liveliness of the piece and any faster would make it feel as though the musicians were in a hurry to finish. At any rate, I love this music. Thank you for sharing.
I played this with 2 others in high school. Took state music contest playing it. Volunteered for the draft in 1968 and never picked up a trumpet since.
Thank you! This brings back great memories of Christmas concerts in high school where one year I played the oboe, next year the alto clarinet and the last year, a bass clarinet.
Most amazing is the fact that Leroy Anderson had that song evolve and grow in his mind ... then he had to commit it to paper. He produced full arrangements, so we always know how it's supposed to sound! Beavo and Semper Fi (from an old swab jockey).
I've heard this piece played at top speed as if the musicians couldn't wait to finish. This is the tempo that is exactly right. Wonderful job all!

I was 1st trumpet in the symphonic band and played this song often. I agree the tempo is spot on! This and Trumpeter’s Lullaby were my favorites!

One of my favorite pieces!! Well done gentlemen! :)
So uplifting! Thank you!
As clean and precise you'll ever hear!
Very good, nice Leroy Anderson tune...and my father being a WWII Marine Vet...nobody looks as sharp as a Marine in Dress Blues.

performed perfectly.
I like the "warning" about the First Sargeant sitting in the audience.
I had a girlfriend who played this piece when I was in college and she was good. If I recalled I was a senior and she was a freshman.
Leave it to Marines to execute this great piece so well.
Nice work!
Great job.
For a bugler's holiday they certainly seem to be working hard :P
