    I wish my dad could’ve watched this 15 years ago. Nobody has a clue about the sh*t sandwich truckers have to eat daily from log books, chicken coops, State Pigs, making deadlines, trying to get home for as long as you can etc. Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge and hopefully making someone’s life easier.

      @Joseph Mason you speak from experience or opinion?

    • @jaredackerman2920
      @jaredackerman2920 4 года назад +5

      Joseph Mason it’s one thing to hear someone bitch, I do it all the time, but it’s another thing to actually have a legit gripe. I’m not here to be a keyboard commando and change your mind I’m simply staring my experience I had driving with my dad in the summer. Everyone think you just get in a truck and drive, easy day right? Nay.
      Log books, tandem weight, weigh scales that have different regulations in each state, being away from home for weeks on end, sitting for days on end waiting for a return load and not getting paid, the list can go on and on.
      I used to talk shit about airline pilots making us sit for hours on a plane to wait out a storm. Must be nice to sit on your ass and get paid right? Pilots are just like truckers. They sit in a tarmac and don’t get paid until the wheels leave the runway. If the delay is too long and interferes with their FAA regulated sleep schedule they don’t get paid for an entire day.
      I learned this from a Delta pilot who was quitting to take a “pay cut” to fly private charter planes. He was making almost equal if not more with private clients since he wasn’t hamstrung by company policy and FAA commercial regulations.
      In a nutshell I’ve been wrong more than I’ve been right but I learned that that stupid cliche “walk a mile in a mans shoes” is a necessity before I can judge.

I still dont know where to 1. Properl search for trucks. 2. Where to find a broker. 3. What permits/licenses i need as just a truck owner and where to buy them and what purpose they serve etc. Ive been watching alot of videos but still need clarity on a few things. I did have a question if you had time to respond. I know you said in previous videos about having No middle men in the trucking business to capitalize on profit. But would you consider it being smart and also profitable ? as a beginner investor who solely wants to just own and not drive to join under someones authority first to take care of the dispatch for a percentage between 10-15% dryvan otr and having the insurance being cheaper as oppose to the big out pocket cost to being under my own authority and finding my own work. Just trying to see if I can truly just invest and have someone else keep the truck busy and dispatch while all I do is take care of the overhead and the driver, is this an ideal way to profit?

      If you can, buy a truck and stay local. If you have intermodal near by or some type of flatbed work. Stay local. Look for a truck no more than 20k. Doesnt have to be the nicest. I can go more into detail, feel free to contact me. I'm a driver myself.

    • @525HP
      @525HP 4 года назад +2

      @@itsmiguell I'm more fond of the cummins isx, which I actually have right now. The n14 cummins is a great motor, hard to find in trucks since it was before the isx. Detroit engines, more of so the 60series is awsome. Both of those are the least expensive, with parts and easy to get a mechanic to work on. I wont touch any truck with the new def regulations in which they cause more harm to engines in the long run. So anything under 2008 you should be good. Cat motors are good, very powerful, but expensive not only for parts but working on them too.

Secondly no one gets rich in this industry unless you're a really large carrier who can scale the business up over a number of profitable years. Two thirds of the money made goes right back into running the business and even more if you're a lousy business owner. Third, if you're going to waste your time sending me idiotic comments at least get your facts and grammar right. Otherwise you're making your own ass look pretty stupid.
