It is not a death sentince. Here is my method for how to treat internal parasites in guppies. As an alternitive you can use Lavemisole or Fenbendazole.

Looking good Mike...hope youre feeling better
Thanks and I am!
We care 💜! Glad you're healthy!
Thanks!
Hi Michael great video, I hope the worms clear up quickly for your fish. Your looking great and hope your health continues to improve. Thanks for sharing 😁👍
Thanks for watching!
Good info as always, rock on 💚
Thanks!
Thank you for this kind of videos.
You’re welcome
Thank you so much for this! I saw a white string hang from my girl I just recently bought and it freaked me out this is good information and I will definitely treat her right away!
Glad I could help!
Funny enough just received some endlers that look terribly skinny and thanks to this video thinking worms as they really are not interested in the live daphnia we are adding, very helpful video Mike at the right time we needed it! Stay strong and keep up the great entertainment!
It's like I knew it or something! LOL Thanks for watching!
I tried buying and couldn’t find the product.
I messaged, but unsure if they will ship to Canada.
Great tips, thanks Micheal
Any time!
So much enjoy these informative videos! :) Thank you!!
Glad you like them!
I'm coming in 13 hours late on this one. We all do care. Well, looking at the thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons I would say two people don't care. Keep up the good work healthwise and fish wise. Thank you for the update.
Thanks so much!
Finally found time to catch up and watch your video. Been chasing my tail trying to keep up on orders and settle in the new location.
Thanks again for your continued business...and for your time to do product reviews. I appreciate it!
No problem! Good luck with the move!
Thanks for the recommendation mike ! Li start the second wave of treatment in 2 weeks . So far no more worms for my guppies !
That's awesome!
Thank you so much, my guppy is showing signs of it out of the blue so now that I know my other fish could have it I’m gonna treat the entire tank!
Glad I could help!
Very in formative and another great vid. You look more like yourself with every vid.
Thanks so much Pete!
Hey Michael, having Gatorade and Chicken Tacos, enjoyed the video, glad you’re doin well. I’m ready for a fish room tour, your tanks and fish are lookin great 👍
Did you like the tour?
Michael's Fish Room Really Enjoyed The Fishroom Tour, Your tanks are lookin great with that new glass cleaner, that helps to see the awesome colors of your guppy’s. Keep the videos coming, it’s always Great to see You and Your method of multiplying guppy’s.
I've been out of the fish world for awhile (still have my aquariums, though) and didn't know you had a heart attack. 😱 So happy you recovered and are doing better! Thanks for the video! I'm having parasite problems right now. I haven't seen any red worms but definitely have white to clear poop. I want to get the medicated fish food but got to get my Pay Pal account issues fixed first.🙄
Thanks. Get the quad flake, it is good stuff!
Link doesn’t work, where do you get the Quad Flake?
@@nhwoodscycle I ended up getting it through Amazon.
It’s back! I treated in April and i just had a sighting this morning. I’ll start with Levamisole as i had some on hand, then definitely checking out the quad flake. I remember hearing to have a darkened tank during treatment, what is your experience?
BTW, apple and 1 slice pumpkin bread, water to drink. Happy you are feeling good!
Thanks Michael!
~JayR and the Nebula Steel in MN.
Great video! So do you recommend the quad flake or the Fenbendazol? As I like to keep stuff on hand just in case, and I already do have the fendbendazol from everything Aquatic
then you should be OK. I have both though.
Fresh fruit and ice cold water, is my snack. Congratulations on your weight loss! Thank you very much for the info, I will be ordering the medicated fish food that is one thing I do not have in my arsenal.
Thanks!
We do care and that's amazing progress Mike!! Whoo hoo! Keep up the good work.
Also, I have coffee, no snack....oops.
Thanks for putting out this video about Camallanus worms, so many times we're told its a death sentence and to just cull the whole tank, bleach it, air dry for a week and try with new fish. I thankfully haven't added any new fish in about 2 years to my tank, but if I do, I know to get a QT tank and to medicate them before introducing them to my existing population!
Thanks Heather!
You need a snack though!
@@MichaelsFishRoom For sure. I used to have a snack drawer in my computer desk drawer...but I stopped that. I've lost 35 pounds this year...but dang I miss gummy worms and candies.
Mixed fruit and water😁 you're looking great Michael!! I'm so happy that you're doing better! This is a great topic.. I took your advice a while back and got everything Aquatics antiparasitic duo.. I definitely highly recommended it.. and the fish actually eat it! By the way the Black Moscows are beautiful!!! Thanks for another great video and thank you for all the expertise you share!!👍🐟🌿🌱
Thanks so much for watching!
Got to love those imported guppies. Sorry you had to deal with that. Thanks for sharing the good information. Cheers
Thanks Lumps!
Congratulations on the weight loss 💪
Thank you!!
the bloopers on this episode were great lol
They are the best part!
I use those Lee's box corner filter in my fry tanks they rock. I also use the bubbler box by Penn plaxx
I will have to check that out.
Really good video!! Thank you so much! However, I have a big planted aquarium with rocks and decor.. if I use both products will it kill the worms completely? I don’t think I can vaccum them all out :/
You can try, but to be sure you should try to vacuum.
do you put furan 2, general cure and ick x together when you first get the fish in a quarantine tank?
yes
Do you treat with furan prophylactically even if you dont see signs of infection during the quarantine period?
yes
Hey! Loved the vid, where I am I can’t access any fish products that have the fenbendazole. I see you said goat dewormer, I just ordered on Amazon. just was wondering if you could possibly explain the dosage amount, not sure how much to put, don’t wanna put the wrong amount. Thanku!
Sorry, I don't know.
Is fenbendizole safe for other fishes and red cherry shrimps? I have a planted aquarium
I don't keep shrimp, but I know it is safe for other fish.
When those worms are laying on the bottom of the tank can you see them moving if you use levamisole which doesn't kill them?
Yes
Health snack I am having Life cereal and black coffee. Yes you are looking better,. Yes the fish room is looking great and thank you for your advice. QT is a must.
Thanks!
Hello Michael, have you ever treated the 14 days straight with fenbendazole flakes? Thanks!
What do you mean?
general cure has metronidazole and prazi - Praziquantel is in quad flake? Do I need to use general cure if I am using quad flake?
yes
wow that is a lot of worms in those guppies....glad you got rid of them! I am sure the guppies are so much happier now. The guppies don't try to eat the worms laying on the bottom of the tank? Great bloopers...
Nope, but I try to vacuum every day.
Do you recommend levimasole in the water and using the flakes?
no
I have goat wormer, how do you make fish food with it ?
Dilute it in water and spray on your flake food. Let dry.....BOOM!
Please help I used levamisole powder but some source say that levamisole in the water won't remove the worm inside the fish gut is this true? do i need to mix my fish food with levamisole or should I did what you do by buying fenbendazole?
I like to use fenbendazole because it also kills the worm. If you use levamisole, make sure you vacuum the tank really well.
I need to check out that quad flake
It's great!
Ive never seen that wormer, and we have goats. Fenbendazole is at most feed stores. Its like $20 for a 4 oz bottle. Can this go right in the water? Also Fen is great for dogs and cats, as it is pretty tasteless you can put it on their food with no problem. I had a heart attack in March,it can was a bit scary and the weakness after was a pain. Glad to see you looking better
hope you are doing OK, thanks for the knowledge!
Is fenbendazole safe to have in my tank with infected guppies if I have loaches. And is the Quad flake safe for loaches.
Sorry Ian, I am not a Loach guy, so I am not sure.
What about plants, guppy grass, moss, floaters...can that be in the water as they are being treated?
yup
Will tetracycline and metronidazole work?
No, you need Fenbendazole or Levamisole.
what is the receipe for using Fenbendazole in food for camallanus worms please? I am uk so can't get the already medicated flakes did try wormer plus but didnt work.
Follow the package directions, add to a spray bottle, spray flake food, let dry.
@@MichaelsFishRoom thankyou how long do i feed the flakes for? do i use the medicated flakes as the only food source?
@@calleyshaify Follow the directions on the package.
Hey Michael are these meds safe for fry as well? I have a mom guppy who was infected and then gave birth and am afraid I need to treat whole tank including fry now?
I've never had an issue treating a tank with fry.
Just noticed one of my guppies has camallanus worms this morning. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of the medications on hand and none of my LFS’s do either. Just ordered some levamisole HCL (I can get it in a couple of days versus a week for the other meds) hoping I can save her in time. I tried looking up that quad flake food you recommended from everything aquatics but I can’t find it on the website. Not sure if they stopped making it.
Email her, she will respond.
Good vid.
Thanks!
Mike , curious, if you have mystery snails can you use these meds or medicated flakes.
I think so, but I am not sure. Email Dena at Everything Aquatic.
Most meds i carry are invertebrate safe. Avoid nitrofurazone and products containing it as it can kill them.
I may have missed this in the comments or video, but how much PROHIBIT powder should be added to water?
Don't know sorry.
Hey, I don’t see the quad flake on her website although I did see it on Amazon but it’s not available. Is it also not available on Dina’s website? I need some assistance maybe I am just blind. 🥲😅
Hiya. Email her through the website.
not sure if my guppies have camallanus parasite or Gill and body flukes, they are flashing quite a lot! now one is sitting near the filter breathing quite rapid and lethargic, any suggestions would be appreciated, unfortunately in the UK we don't have access to antibiotics
Join cookies fishroom on FB I'll help u out there
Sorry I didn't answer sooner, what meds can you get?
@@MichaelsFishRoom no problem in the UK we have formaldehype based medications with copper or Acriflavine
Malachite Green .www.completeaquatics.co.uk/aquarium-accessories/aquarium-additives-and-treatments/aquarium-medications here is a link to most of them
They don't seem to sell the quad flake any more, do you know any alternatives?
They do, email the company.
Hello Michael, some links on the description are not working, please check them out. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Sorry, I don't really deal with that company anymore.
Can't you just do the med trio and feed the fenbendizole flake while they are in QT?
Sure you can, why?
Can I feed the lev. Flakes and put the fendabazole powder in the tank? Both at the same time? And if I buy this findable powder. Which is for dogs I see... what dosage do you go by? Thanks!
Why would you? They do essentially the same thing.
@@MichaelsFishRoom well I know the flakes paralyze it and you mentioned the fendabazole actually killed them... so in my mind I was thinking.... paralyze them from fish eating and then put the powder in to kill just in case I didnr get them all our because I have a 125 gal with sand so I was worried. But if you think thats unnecessary then I will listen to your recommendation.
how long do you wait after getting an international shipment do you wait before dosing all of these meds quad flake, furan, rid ich, general cure? They are usually stressed. I dont want to kill them by stressing them more? How long do you allow for acclimation before medicating??
I have my ways.
Top tip right there ^
Mike - Fritz Aquatics Expel-P and Fritz Aquatics Fixich are also Fantastic Remedies - Great Vid!
Expel P has levamisole but the dosage is not correct or it's not strong Cory from co-op is testing it for months now to no luck
@@joelr773 I will send you some you can test out yourself. Not that I won't ever see them but I don't have fish and have never had fish with these worms so no way for me to try it . I'll send you some same time I send some Repashy for you to try
@@kjeaquatics only had once this issue
Thanks for the tip!
🤛
why quad flake instead of fenbendazole? I'm deciding which to buy to treat new fish.
I found it works better in some cases.
What does healthy poop look like/color? Thanks Bend Or.
Brown, sometimes redder depending on the food you feed.
What is quad flake listed as exactly on everything aquatic? I don't see it on the list. Only pellet
It’s listed as “quad flake” 🤦🏻♂️🤣🤣🤣
@@MichaelsFishRoom Haha. Lol. I found it using the search bar. Just couldn't find it looking at the list for some reason
Hello Michael! Thank you for the video, it helped a lot with the stress. Had a guppy die on me today with clear symptoms. I have another tank running right now (55 gallons) that's starting the cycling process. I'm worried about cross contamination since I added some plants from the infected tank to the new tank before I knew of the worms. Since there's no fish in the tank, just some snails, is it possible that if I wait a month whilst doing the setup process I won't have to fear the worms? I've heard that due to their life cycle process they won't have the chance to mature to the point they can reproduce. Is that correct or should I just do a full reset? (also drinking a carbonated water rn since you asked lol!)
I would start over!
No snack?
@@MichaelsFishRoom Hey Mike, got what I needed to start the treatments. Didn't have a snack then because I had just eaten dinner!
is general cure enough for Camallanus worms? or do I need the quad flakes?
I would use the flakes
Do they not sell the anti-parasite quad flake anymore?
They do, email the store.
Are the worms redd or brown because mean have a brown string do u think its just poop?
Could be.
Baby brine shrimp spiced with spirulina powder.
Fresh-water with minerals added.
For you or the fish? LOL
I set up my QT back in my early days before I knew what I was doing and put sand in there
That's gotta suck
Haven’t had this problem (yet) but always on the lookout.
Lucky!
The link to the medicated food doesnt work
She may have gone out of business.
What do you advise when I don’t have another aquarium for quarantine?
I advise you to to search my channel for "hospital tank" and follow that video!
@@MichaelsFishRoom Thanks! I will look for it.
Question can Pleco’s get this and would you treat the same way?
Yes, and I would use sinking pellets instead of flakes.
Michael's Fish Room thanks checking out your friends store!
Does this work for Clown loaches with the wasting skinny parasite/disease?
If they have internal parasites, yes.
Thanks for the video, I’m incredibly frustrated because I live in Canada and levamisole isn’t sold here. I was prepared to have everything in my tank die on me because of that but I’m hoping to get some fenbendazole on my next paycheck.
Good luck
So.. I helped my brother clear these out of his Oscar tank. We used panacur C mixed into a cup of aquarium water and blood worms and let it soak. Only fed that twice a day and did water changes every two days. Went for 4 days and took a two week break and did it again. Another two week break and did it again. It seems to have worked. But I now have them in my 20L nano 😞 it's my colony breeding tank for various micro rasboras, painted fire red cherries, and a couple gups and some oddballs. Im freaking out but I am gonna try this food I was unaware of it. Thankyou so much
If you still have the meds, just make your own! Good Luck.
I want to try the Fenbendazole that’s listed in the comments but what is the dosage per gallon? I’ve been trying everything to get rid of these worms but nothing is shaking them. I can’t find anywhere online about dosages. Thanks!
Have you tried Fenbendazole flakes?
@@MichaelsFishRoom I just ordered some from everything aquatics. I didn’t realize they had it😑 I have levamisole and quad flakes ordered too. I’ve just been ordering stuff as I learn, just desperate for something to work.
What if we can't get ahold of the treated food. Will these meds work in just the water? I've a betta with it right now and I'm in Canada and can't find any treated food anywhere.
Make the food silly!
@@MichaelsFishRoom lol, thanks. I guess that's obvious eh? ;) Is it as easy as adding the meds to the food, letting it soak and then adding some gaurlic gaurd or something like that for flavor?
Will Prazipro just soak in? I'm such a noob. :) Sorry.
@@arachnophilegrrl I think so on the Prazi, I have never done it. I have used Levamisole and fenbendazole though. Take the food you want to use, put the meds in a spray bottle mixed at the correct dose and spray on. Let dry and BAM!
Is this food no longer available from everything aquatic?
Email Dena, she will help you.
Can red worms be passed on through snails?
I have no idea.
It can be long white stringy poop too
No, that is different internal parasite usually.
I've been using antibiotics first aid never had a problem penicillin and amoxicillin cephalexin
Cool!
I dunno if my fish are good now- my guppy is looking a bit thin lately- I don’t see red worms in the tank though-
Good luck
Looking at my own situation, since I have substrate, I'd probably have to go straight to fenbendizole (sp?). I assume Levamisol only expels them doesn't kill them, so I'm thinking there's a strong risk of reinfection if you don't get all the worms vacuumed up. Is that right?
Yessir
One can’t get legally get levamisole in Canada for anything (not even vets), but one can get fenbendazole dog dewormer. Some people have worked out the precise measurements to treat tanks with it, but it requires precise measurements of very small amounts of powder, and is still quite risky.
Ok
First time I'm hearing about these worms, giving myself a good scare so I never get lazy about quarantining new fish.
~Snacking on some jalapeño chips
You are lucky you’ve never had to deal with them.
@@MichaelsFishRoom they sound horrendous, I'm successfully paranoid 👍 thanks for the vid!
we do care
Thanks!
I'm sure I've got that "calamari" disease. I love me some squid!
You better go get a shot!
Is there something wrong if my guppys poop is brown but stringy?
Maybe? Would need more info.
How long does it take to see worms at the bottom post treatment?
Within hours
A view hours with levamisole.
I've been using flubendazol and I can still see camallanus worms hanging out of an angle. What would you use instead.
You sould be using fenbendazole not flubendazol.
Did you watch the video?
Michael's Fish Room
I've bought some fenbendazol .
Michelle Gibson great
Did you sort out your problem?
Got this little guy from a lake near me when I went fishing , he didn't even run away just entered in my net lol , he is a bit lethargic.
Poor thing has this big ass shlong dangling from his bottom private stuff..
Placed him in a qt tank I had laying around , he's eating so that's a good sign :p
Gonna start treating him , hope it goes well!
And thanks for the vid!!😊

Everything Aquatics no longer sells quad flake apparently. Is there anywhere else that sells it or similar product?
Make your own food, it’s easy and cheaper.
@@MichaelsFishRoom I use to do that but could never get flake right. Know any good recipes?
Can this infect humans too? I accidentally got a small cut my hand while changing the water in my tank and saw that my molly had these worms.
No idea...I am just a dumb guy with a camera.
‘Everything Aquatics’ definitely looking at those parzi flakes 👌🏽
If you have any questions let me know.
EverythingAquatic thank you. I just want to know the difference between your quad and duo flakes (quad does seem better)
The parasite ones(one of my guppies is looking thin and not fattening up again pretty sure she dropped some fry a while back but she isn’t putting back on weight )
Anti-Parasite Duo and Quad have different meds. The duo's active ingredients are metronidazole and praziquantel. A great general dewormer as it covers about 80% of the common parasites we encounter. Quad is praziquantel, levamisole, garlic and Epsom salt. Also a dewormer, but doesn't treat flagellets or protozoa, but it can treat resistant worms, such as camalanus. Plus levamisole has the added bonus of boosting the immune system.
EverythingAquatic fenbendazole flake?
I'm on a 24 hour fast. Nothing but water today. 👍🏻
Why?
@@MichaelsFishRoom because she probably thinks she's fat when she isn't
Is it ok to feed other food while treating with quad flake For 13 days?
What do the directions say Jack? I think they say "only feed quad flake" If I remember correctly......
@@MichaelsFishRoom you are correct. thanks. It says "only food source" for 10 to 14 days.
The guppies don't try to eat the dead red worms at the bottom?
Some times.
Could the red worms cause Bloat???
No
Good video 👍,. I did Google about fish bacteria, and it said, place the fish in boiling water to 350° and it will kill all the bacteria.
That's dumb.
@@MichaelsFishRoom L😂L
Do you still go by the medicated food method Michael? I’m dealing with these for the first time ever - not knowing that a guppy (even tho I did quarantine it) had them.
It’s really upsetting, so I’m scared I’m gonna lose my entire tank. The two treatments Lev & Fen are really hard to acquire here (ban) but I did find a seller from another prov that has medicated food. If it gets to me, medicated food is my own bet.
These worms are hell, already one loss.
Yes, medicated food and gravel vacs. Also look for Goat dewormer with either of those meds.
@@MichaelsFishRoom Thanks Michael 🙏
My healthy beverage is earl grey tea with honey. 😊
Nice!
Thank you so much for this information! I’ll be looking at buying some of that food. I’m not much into flack food for my Guppies but it it help them I’ll deal. I’m pretty sure at least 2 of my females have a parasite as they are very thin looking they also live with others so better safe then sorry.
Glad it was helpful!
If you prefer pellets I have medicated pellets in addition to the flakes.
@@EverythingaquaticNet That would be great! My Guppies have been showing signs of internal parasites and I’ve been using paraguard and General Cure but some just don’t seem to take to them well. Okay to give to Bettas too correct? I have 13 Bettas and some of them seem to just have a very poor immune system.
@@clarissachakan1924 Yes. Safe with most any tropical fish. Anti-Parasite Duo or Quad should help your guppies. I don't have every pellet size listed on my website (being upgraded currently). But, you can add a comment letting me know the pellet size needed. The Organic Micro pellets Michael mentioned are 550-750 microns. And I also have 0.6mm and larger...up to 7.5mm
