I am really going crazy , I have had my babies for almost 5 years and al of a sudden I started seeing the gold color fading and scales falling off sunken in behind the head and a sunken belly stringy white poo. I had treated with salt and bacteria and fungi and still I have lost 3 fish in the past 2 months. I'm going to have to treat my whole tank. My 2 koi and 2 African featherfins seem fine but my sarrasas are dieing. Thank you for your videos I was so lost and you again saved the swimming Angels. Kev, Thank you for having the best “how to” videos on aquarium and fish keeping. You are my go to guy for all fish and aquarium tips, tricks and treatments. I haven’t owned fish in 30 plus years or so but now my 5 year old daughter Ava had a fascination with them and so doing things like I do, we went from a single goldfish she won at the fair to a 5 gallon, then 10 gallon and now a 75 gallon fresh water tank. 🤦! Anyways, Dude, you are down to earth, easy to follow and direct and to the point which I appreciate! Our Cichlids are 2- blood parrots and named ( Mustard and Mayonnaise). and 2- Tiger Oscars are (Jelly and Peanut Butter). 😎 Too cute coming from a 5 year old man! Thank you Kev and keep these videos coming! Now I get to treat internal parasites in one of our Oscars (Jelly). He has the long white dangling poop and is now staying at the bottom of the tank and almost laying sideways at times. Wish us luck!
Hi David, Glad to hear your daughter brought back in to the hobby! Your fish have awesome names btw! Thank you for the positive feedback, im happy to hear you're enjoying the channel and finding it helpful! Good luck with your Oscar, hopefully he'll pull through! Hi Kev, "Lets Go". 😄😄. I'm a subscriber. I love your videos because they are easy to follow and understand. They are very informative as well. I have 2 Tetra fish that are not eating and I don't see any long white stringy poop coming from them. There are no signs of Ick either. The pink one is very active but the blue one spends a lot of time at the bottom of the tank hiding. The blue one has also become very pale in color with sunken belly. He will swim around at times. So I saw one of your videos on why your fish have stopped eating. You said to change the brand of food, I did to a more vitamin riched food with smaller pellets. I also ordered Seachem Metroplex and Seachem Focus. As for the Seachem Garlic Guard do you recommend using fresh garlic juice?? Also saw another of your videos saying that I can treat the whole tank, I only have those 2 fish anyway for now. You also mentioned Epsom Salt mixture can be added to tank as well with these above named products. How often do I do water changes if any and for how many days do I treat???
Thanks, I figured I’d do separate videos on each disease and it’s specific medication first and then do one big general video about disease and meds all in one. What do you think?
i just ordered all this stuff , it should he here tomorrow! i noticed one of my guys hasn’t eating in the last 2 days and went right to ur youtube for the answer. hopefully it all works ok
You have very informative videos ❤. I fed once, and one out of 2 angels couldn't poop at all after 1st dose in food she was very swollen, so I added peas later. She wouldn't eat the 2nd dosage because she didn't like it. So, I ordered the focus and garlic guard. I treated the tank until I received the focus and garlic guard. Your fish are very beautiful 😍
thank you for the informative video and walkthrough of symptoms! In your experience, is it common to have worm-type parasites especially in bottom feeders, where you need Levamisole and not Metronidazole? I had some clown loaches with chronic wasting and I'm really worried which approach to take as I read it could be either worms or amoeba/bacteria
Hey Kev, I’ve been watching all your videos and when I saw the white string I knew exactly where to turn. Thanks. BIG QUESTION - why did this happen? Could it be the food I use?
It could definitely be the food, or the CHANGING of food. Sometimes they just need time to adjust to a new food. White stringy poop is just a symptom, so give them a few days and see if it clears on its own before starting the meds 😊
Thank you! 😊 I feed them once a day and fast them in Sunday’s...But I add supplements to my food as well, check it out - ruclips.net/video/r6_D2pUtAng/видео.html
Hello. I am a new subscriber & appreciate your content. My dwarf Gourami has been rubbing, has white stringy poop, lethargic, etc. Before I found this video, I dosed my community tank with Api general cure. I should add, this morning one of my fish were dead too. Sooooo... my question is, did you try api general cure ever, and was it successful? What else can you recommend for me since I already started using this other med for my tank? Thanks for your time, Tamara.
Thanks for subscribing!! This method is medicating the food, so just stick to your normal water change schedule. It wont have any effect since the fish are actually eating the meds.
I literally just got into this hobby and you my man, has helped me A TON!!! thank you. I did have a question tho, do you disinfect the tank after the medication?
Thanks bro, glad you’re enjoying the channel! No need to disinfect anything with this method of feeding meds. Some meds, when used in the water, do need to be removed with carbon.
brilliant video's,lots of excellent advice and knowledge, plus 9 year old camera man is doing fine, some o the best advice video's on YT, keep up the good work, top man, jay london
Love your videos! They have helped me learn a tremendous amount. I’m in Canada and can not legally purchase the products for treating sunk-in belly you suggested (metroplex and Focus). Do you have any alternative suggestions we could try? Thanks so much!
You only need to remove the carbon when you are medicating the water. In this case, since I'm mixing meds with food that will be consumed instantly, no need to remove carbon 😊
Right now the only sign i see of internal parasites is stringy poop and i’ve seen Molly, Paullie and Mr. Pac-Man poop like that. They all still have a very good appetite thankfully. I’m going to take this as an indicator to treat all my fishies and i’m so thankful for your informative video that shows where to begin 😭 i’d be very clueless otherwise.
My pleasure! If they only have the stringy poop but are still eating good, and no sunken belly, I wouldnt medicate. They could just be adjusting to the food you're feeding. Remember the white stringy poop is just 1 of a few signs....Hold of on the meds for now as long as they're still eating well.
@@KaveManAquatics thank you so much!! i will definitely keep a look out for the other signs and take action if i see any other signs. we just got through fighting Ick a couple of weeks ago and i didn’t want to medicate them so soon after that. thankfully all of them recovered from ick and my tank has been ick free for a few weeks now ☺️ also, thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment
I like your vids, and your presentation style. Lots of people swear by Metro, but I haven’t experienced positive outcomes. Although I have not been soaking as long as you suggested(I usually soaked for 2-3min). But I will try your suggestions, and see if theres a difference. Be well
reginald barometre Thanks! Appreciate the comment, definitely soak it for longer. Remember these pellets are formed with intense heat for maximum dryness. Give it more time and you’ll see the difference of how much liquid they can absorb.
Very nice video! Thank you. Tell me, can you do this as a preventative say every month or 3 months? i do aquascaping... is it harmful to shrimp, plants, etc?
Once again Thank you for your time! I just picked some Focus, Kanaplex, Metroplex and garlic guard. I opened each of the boxes. Metroplex had a very small amount in the bottle and Kanaplex had just a little more than the Metroplex. The Focus bottle wasn't full but much more than both of the already mentioned. Is this supposed to be like this or have I been gotten?
Thank you so much 💖 we're just starting out with our guppies and we lost 3 so far (1 before we had chance to name him, Jacque, and Shadow). Got medicine on route so we can try and save Jack, Mom (it's the school hols), and Mello 🤞💖
I have been using the 1:5 ratio still even after the update. Fully just went by the video which was great! Ive been using this for 4 days and my question is. Do you think that will harm the fish?
Thanks bro, no these meds are for internal parasites. For external go with Seachem Paraguard or General Cure in the tank water directly, not in the food.
I love your videos! Do you have any on treating fungus on fish? I'm brand new at keeping fish and I have a fungus issue. I've already set up a hospital tank!
I love watching your videos. Is it possible for your tank to have both internal parasites and Ich? I’ve seen some stringy poop, and my fish have pretty bad spots. Im on day 3 of treating with Ich-X with water changes daily, but haven’t noticed it getting any better 😢
Thanks! That’s a great idea, will work on that. I have a similar video of my tank upgrade where I transferred my sand substrate to the new tank...check it out ruclips.net/video/XNqQqdCn1bc/видео.html
Love the vids man. So how often do you medicate? Conflicting info with Metro. Website says feed daily and the actual bottle doesn’t say. When it talks about treating the water it says every other day. Thanks Kev.
Great video, thanks! But can I ask why did you use a 5 to 1 ratio of focus and metroplex? We have the same Focus as you and it says to use 1 to 1 ratio with metroplex. Thanks in advance... look forward to your advice.
This is so helpful. Just bought a goldfish it stopped eating was lying at the bottom I did medicate but it passed away. Should I continue to medicate my other fish that is healthy? It was in the same tank
Ty for the best video on the subject Ive found! Since I only have one tank so quarantining new fish isnt an option, doesnt this method really threat the tank or do the fish eventually get re-infected due to parasite eggs and what not in the tank ? Or better said, how often does this need to be repeated in order for the tank itself to become parasite free ? Depends on the parasite lifecycle I guess so in the case of nano fish how long would they take daily cocktails ?
This may blow your mind but....Parasites are always in your tank, and mine! When our fish get stressed is when they catch disease. By keeping them stress free they will stay disease-free. Once they do have parasites though this method will help eliminate them.
Hi! this is a great video! i have three questions. since I only have one fish, how do i make this recipe? 1. do i use one pellet, one drop of garlic water/guard and one really small amount of kanaplex/metroplex? (I'm using kanaplex) 2. how long can i keep the food for? last time i kept it for about 2 weeks, and it grew mouldy. 3. how do you mix this with flakes? thank you! very helpful channel and responding to comments 😄
@@KaveManAquatics ok thanks! will it work if i mix a tbsp of crushed pellets and a scoop of meds with water, rolll it into pellets and leave it out to dry?

Love your videos! They have helped me learn a tremendous amount. I’m in Canada and can not legally purchase the products for treating sunk-in belly you suggested (metroplex and Focus). Do you have any alternative suggestions we could try? Thanks so much!
Flagyl!
Really appreciate this video it is extremely helpful! Could you possibly do a video on how to control or get rid of black beard algae?
That video is on my list! Keep an eye out for it soon 😁
Awesome!!
Yo I appreciate your videos. Keep them coming broski.
Thanks bro, will do! 😊💪
Thank you so much I have a fish with a white poop not eating I'm going to try this to help her . I hope your fish made it OK how are they doing now
Nice info simply explained 👌 but did u take the carbon out the canisters while treating
You only need to remove the carbon when you are medicating the water. In this case, since I'm mixing meds with food that will be consumed instantly, no need to remove carbon 😊
@@KaveManAquatics thanks for the quick response 👍
No problem 😊💪
I LOVE your channel! This vid is awesome! 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🌿🌿🌿🌿
Thanks! Glad you’re finding the channel helpful 😁💪
Right now the only sign i see of internal parasites is stringy poop and i’ve seen Molly, Paullie and Mr. Pac-Man poop like that. They all still have a very good appetite thankfully. I’m going to take this as an indicator to treat all my fishies and i’m so thankful for your informative video that shows where to begin 😭
i’d be very clueless otherwise.
My pleasure! If they only have the stringy poop but are still eating good, and no sunken belly, I wouldnt medicate. They could just be adjusting to the food you're feeding. Remember the white stringy poop is just 1 of a few signs....Hold of on the meds for now as long as they're still eating well.
@@KaveManAquatics thank you so much!! i will definitely keep a look out for the other signs and take action if i see any other signs. we just got through fighting Ick a couple of weeks ago and i didn’t want to medicate them so soon after that. thankfully all of them recovered from ick and my tank has been ick free for a few weeks now ☺️
also, thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment
Great video keep up the good job.
Thanks 😊
Yes you can! Thats exactly what I do every 2-3 months. Yes safe for all fish, plants, and invertebrates
thank you!!@@KaveManAquatics
Great vid! I've heard if you let it dry the medication will bond to the food better? Thoughts?? I'm told to keep it refrigerated to avoid molding.
Thats correct, the longer you let it sit it will bond better. And if you’re prepping enough for multiple days then yes refrigerating is key 👍
Dope video bro. Does this method work for external parasites as well?
Thanks bro, no these meds are for internal parasites. For external go with Seachem Paraguard or General Cure in the tank water directly, not in the food.
@@KaveManAquatics ok thanks bro
I love your videos! Do you have any on treating fungus on fish? I'm brand new at keeping fish and I have a fungus issue. I've already set up a hospital tank!
Try the med trio from aquarium co-op.
Website is dope! I’m impressed.
Thanks man! Really appreciate that 👍😊 Going to work hard to keep growing the content there!
I love watching your videos. Is it possible for your tank to have both internal parasites and Ich? I’ve seen some stringy poop, and my fish have pretty bad spots. Im on day 3 of treating with Ich-X with water changes daily, but haven’t noticed it getting any better 😢
Nice video man, Can you do a video of like top 10 aquarium cleaning tools and how to add sand to a establish tank w fish in it?
Thanks! That’s a great idea, will work on that. I have a similar video of my tank upgrade where I transferred my sand substrate to the new tank...check it out

Love the vids man. So how often do you medicate? Conflicting info with Metro. Website says feed daily and the actual bottle doesn’t say. When it talks about treating the water it says every other day.
Thanks Kev.
I dont remember what the package says...But when I did medicate, mixed in food, I did it every day for about 2 weeks. That did the trick
@@KaveManAquatics Thank you sir. I’ll give it a go.
Great video, thanks! But can I ask why did you use a 5 to 1 ratio of focus and metroplex? We have the same Focus as you and it says to use 1 to 1 ratio with metroplex. Thanks in advance... look forward to your advice.
This video is old, Seachem has updated their concentration to a 1:1 ratio. 👍
This is so helpful. Just bought a goldfish it stopped eating was lying at the bottom I did medicate but it passed away. Should I continue to medicate my other fish that is healthy? It was in the same tank
Wooaahh you name your fish? Thought was the only one
Thanks for a great video.
Glad you liked it!

Ordering all 3 now! I used your links as well sir but your metroplex link isn't active. We ciclid parents have to stick together!!! 💪🏽
Appreciate that brother! And thanks for the heads up, will check that link right now! 💪

Thank you! Love your video, very helpful and clear!
Thanks! Glad I could help 😊
Hi! this is a great video! i have three questions. since I only have one fish, how do i make this recipe?
1. do i use one pellet, one drop of garlic water/guard and one really small amount of kanaplex/metroplex? (I'm using kanaplex)
2. how long can i keep the food for? last time i kept it for about 2 weeks, and it grew mouldy.
3. how do you mix this with flakes?
thank you! very helpful channel and responding to comments 😄
Yes mix just a few pellets with a few drops of each. Refrigerate any extra for about 3 days max
@@KaveManAquatics ok thank you! really appreciate it. can u use flakes to do this?
I wouldnt use flakes as they dont absorb and retain the supplements as well.
@@KaveManAquatics ok thanks! will it work if i mix a tbsp of crushed pellets and a scoop of meds with water, rolll it into pellets and leave it out to dry?
Hey Kev, thanks for the tips bro. Question do I need to do water changes too and if so how often while treating them for the full week?
Just do your regular scheduled water changes. That doesnt need to change.
Thank you for saving my baby gurami!
My pleasure!
1. You've taught me some new school moves for my tanks. 2. I had an African cichlid named school bus
Nice name! Glad I could help! 😊
Man, good stuff like usual
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
You're very informative thank you
