Thank you for taking us through that entire routine. It helped build more confidence (and knowledge) for doing fish care.
Thanks John on being precise with the treatment.
John, Great job with these videos. I'm not a Technical guy so i respect simple and straight to the point. I've been learning a lot so when it comes time to buy I'm going to you first Keep up the fantastic work Thank you for sharing your knowledge it's appreciated
Thank you so much for this! I have watched Cory treat all of his incoming fish in quarantine which is what I am going to do. I went and purchased most of the meds I felt I would need, but deworming was iffy, so many different types. I appreciate your direction and information, thanks again!!
I don't know if you are reading this @KGTropicals but ur simplistic explaining is whats got me stuck on to your channel. You are amazing at sharing knowledge. God bless u and the missus 🖤
Very helpful video, thank you for taking the time to make it👍🏾
Great video... maybe my favorite! I've been waiting for someone to do a real step by step series on diagnosing and medicating - two challenging things to do with the gazillion articles out there, not to mention package directions that confuse the hell out of me! Thank you!
Awesome John. Thank you so very much for making this video.
Thanks, John for the great video. I am brand new to the hobby and watch your video's all the time.
finally a video that explains the process, and just how it's done thanks John.
Thanks, of coarse there will be people that will complain about it being too long but it's the only way I know how to do it:-)
@@KGTropicals I too would like to thank you for posting this video. As the saying goes, the devil is in the details and you covered everything in such great detail. 👌🏼🙏🏼
KGTropicals hey I have a question what do you do if only one fish In Your aquarium that shows some white spots but you only have one tank?
@@Darkcloud1983 just treat the tank then it's okay.
How long do u have to leave the carbon out of the filter? Just while you feed them or the entire time they are being medicated?
very helpful video ,not had much experience with medicating fish The analogy was clear and helped me determent that I definitely have a parasite issue with a few of mine
Thank you so much! I just pulled all my fish out of a pond outside that was too shallow for winter, and they are flashing and sitting on the bottom not swimming so I know they are all full of parasites. Frogs were in the pond.
This is sooo helpful!
Nice mam I av same ....in
Always have all of these on hand. They work wonders!
Thanks John for the superb demonstration watching you from Australia . Very helpful
At first i was skeptical to watch a 24 minute video... but it very well done and very detailed
Thank you for this awesome info!!!!
This was great John! Looking forward to part 2.
Thanks Ben!
@@KGTropicals Well....its 6 years later...where is part 2?!?!??!
make sure no scented Epsom salt
Thank you for your service!!
I'm glad I found your video. My new rams have worms. This is why I always quarantine my plants, fish and inverts!
@Drinking Water yes and I used Epsom salt and API general cure. Neither seemed to bother my corydoras. I made sure to follow the directions on the package, too.
SUCH GOOD INFO
Excellent video John. I think that knowing how to treat internal parasites is a must for anyone keeping African cichlids. And treating the food like you demonstrated is way more cost effective than trying to medicate a large tank. Looking forward to part 2 in a few weeks :)
Seen his video like four times and it's always a great video to watch
thank you i learn so much on this video
Great video! Thanks for breaking down the steps. Do you run the bloodworms under tap water after thawing ?
Best video I ever see , talk to the point and very useful , thatswhy I subscribe this channel
What happened to part 2
Just lost a fish to a parasite today. Wish I would have found this vid sooner
That's so awesome thank you so much I've been frustrated with my fish trying to save them
dude your profile pic is epic 😂
I could not for the life of me find any definitive answers on google for what medicines to use. Thank you!
I use Paraguard, Methylene blue/Malachite and Clindamycin whenever i find a wild hybrid or A+ specimen.
Nice job John. Demonstrated nice and clear. I wanted to know if the medicines you mentioned would kill bb if added straight to the main tank.
Awesome video 👍💯❤️
I NEVER knew this. I can't thank you enough...
This was an awesome video. Very good stuff.
Thanks Steve!
Good stuff John!
I had a great success with Metroplex and my shubunkins and koi. I created a dough from bread and egg and a bit of flour and garlic powder and a dose of the meds. I kneeded it until it became like pizza dough. Then you can make tiny balls and control which fish you throw it too! I believe that can be used for any fish type that is plant based diet. Good luck! (I found that trying to soak pre-formed pellets with that med is not good enough. Fish spit it out and then more of it leaches out into the tank, than gets eaten. I really like my formula)
Thanks for info your great at explaining
Smart!!! Great video! TY!
I use Melafix to treat isolated fish in a tank and to treat a tank with new fish (use for 3 days). I recently had to treat a couple African Cichilds. The Frontosa was not himself and had cloudy eyes a newer fish had body and fin damage. I removed them and treated a 20 gallon tank with Melafix and they are doing fine now. I've also soaked pellets in Epsom salt every so often to keep them regular.
Great Video John, how long you can leave the Epsom salt in the main tank before water change?
Thank you so much for this video ! I hope I can save my fish ...
Awesome video.. I have a question, how many times a week I feed them using metroplex, Focus, garlic a week and how long??
Wonderful video! Thank you
Awesome video great recommendations for the medications! (The rhyme though😂)
Super! Thank you!!!
I use pellets soaked in Metro and it's been a very effective treatment as long as you catch problems early and your fish are eating. I know Seachem is probably a sponsor but that Metroplex is so expensive compared to pure metro powder, if you have to actually treat a tank the cost can really add up fast. I've also had to treat colonies so rather than just treat the food I needed to take action swiftly and just treat the tank. Thank you for doing these videos, they may save someone some heartache.
How do you treat the tank
John have you done an update for this video yet how did the fish turn out
Hi, where is the part 2 of this video? can't find it. thanks
My dwarf gourami died, he had a parasite called Hexamita. My fish actually had a swollen stomach. My Aguaculturist specialises in ornamental fish diseases. He opened up my fish and saw the parasites under a microscope.. I am lucky enough to have a specialist in the field in my neighbourhood..
Can the other fish get this from an infected fish?
not so lucky enough cus it died
Great video.. Treating my fish now hope it works.. Thank you
Thank you so much i knew you could help.
great info
Right on Johnny 💥.
Thanks

Excellent video!
Great video/resource. What is the mixture when using General Cure to treat the pellets that I am feeding the fish?
How often can you use general cure and can you use ich and fungal meds along with it?
Thank you for advice
Can you please show me part 2 ? I checked videos but I couldn't found it .
I just wanna follow the treatment .
Thank you
White poop can also show itself when you net the tank... Ive never seen it hanging from my fish... but I have found it when I was netting bits of food out of the tank...
ok thank you KGT.FOR YOU Help
Thanks John this video gives me the courage to treat my 120. Seems fish all have internal parasites they came from my 220.I am going to make your food also. If this works I'm going to treat all my tanks and get rid of this nasty Parisite forever. Great video learned a lot I did not know. Thanks! 🐟🐟🐟
Thanks! I'm glad I could help!
Did those fish in the sunken belly video recover with using the metro an focus An garlic guard. Food soak ? I couldn’t find the vid. Thx
Awesome video my friend thanks for sharing
Thanks Lou!
I hate parasites in my fish. This explains much!
Very informative but where is the follow up?
Good information to know just in case 😊👍💓
You saved my fish! Thank you!
What method did u use?
Amazing video!
I have several 10 gallon planted tanks. Can the products you talked about (including epson salt), be used without affecting my live plants?
Great video.
How many time should be use that medicines?
My Regards,
subscribed again :) very good content
As a biologist and 25 years with African cichlids, I am very interested in the results of your experiments. Hexamita as we know is the major contributor towards Malawi bloat. Sometimes the fish bloat, sometimes they become emaciated. In my experience once in shows up, the parasites have already done irreversible damage to the internal organs of the fish. Recovery is infrequent with medications and there is generally lasting fish issues such as emaciation, and general weakness. This is why prevention has to be of upmost importance. For me this means Epsom salts, no krill or bloodworms in the diet, using a metro infused fish food, and mixing vegetable pellets into their diets.
Hi There thanks for the information which I agreed with you 100%, I have discus fish and please tell me how or which kind of medecation I can use from time to time to prevent them from internal and external parasites. Here we have a medecation from Sera company called Flagullol also we have a medecation called bactopur.
Plus Api general cure is available as well but medicated food there is not available, and when I mix metronidazole with beef heart my fish does not eating it?
Please advise
Thank you very much
great video John
Thanks!
Anyone know the answers to these questions
How long do you feed the medicated food for?
How often do you use the Epsom Salt
How much epsom salt per gallon?
Has anyone done this with anything other than frozen blood worms?
I did it with frozen brine shrimp and regular fish food flakes... then let them dry out. I also would like to know how long I am to use the food. ( so far ive used it 4 days )I've watched a few of these videos and don't see any follow up success videos.Let me know if you have any success?
will the fish eat the garlic infused food if they're not eating anything?
thx. for this video.
Just got a wild red eye puffer fish yesterday...and he has a live white worm hanging out of his butt :/ Otherwise he is eating well, curious, good color. I fed him white worms an hour before he pooped the live worm, and they look very similar. Perhaps it's an undigested worm? What medications (if it is an internal parasite) is safe for a puffer? Thanks in advance!
Hi, txs for the vid, do i need to remove the act carbon before using garlic? I have 1 goldfish and 10 cherry shrimps in a 10 g tank, txs
Hey love the videos , some of the most helpfull and Understandable info that I have come across yet on RUclips . Your channel saves me so much time because after watching your channel I have the information that I was desperately looking for and I can finally take care of my tanks! Thank you ! Btw I don't want to be the guy that complains about your content because it's good. But your videos normally come thru choppy and the audio and video generally lag I think you already are aware of this, I just wanted to see if you have thought of getting a faster internet service to help this problem . Any ways thanks for the great content ! Hope the quality can get a little better soon I think it wold do you a lot of good too.
That only happens during the live streams. I tried to upgrade my internet but it turns out I've got the fastest speed they have available:-( Hopefully it'll get better soon:-)
Who's your internet provider I'm gonna give them a call and tell them that's just unacceptable , don't they know you've got fans ! Just kidding butt seriously .
True I bought a betta make ones which looked seriously malnourished.I fed him 3 times a day for about 3 weeks with my hand before he looked a decent shape.
Also could I use powder garlic or minced garlic in with blood worms? Would that work as well?
Parasites drop eggs as part of their life cycle. Nobody ever addresses this. So pulling 1 sick fish out and treating it may not do any good for the rest of the tank. Plus if their is 1 sick fish how do you know for sure none of the tankmates are infected but not showing signs yet?
Paraguard is used for about 2 weeks. Which is intended to kill the eggs that have in your aquarium.
I agree, don't you treat the whole tank?
Does paraguard actually treat internal parasites? I have clown loaches with skinny disease which I think is internal parasites.. ive had so many different things recommended but thought paraguard was for internal?
Shona Dew Paraguard is for ectoparasites (external)
He actually said that he used Paraguard on his general tank
Is Garlic Guard safe for Vampire Plecos?
Lol
No
Chad Davis lmao
Only if you use Holy Water!
Keep the tank away from the sun
I'll be doing this very soon... seems the last couple fish I picked up weren't the healthiest
Did you ever do a follow up video or share the outcome?
Thanks John. Very informative. How long will you feed the medicated food?
The manufacturer recommends to treat every 48 hours for up to 3 weeks or until the symptoms are no longer present:-)
I’m using this in the morning I hope it works also because I don’t see a part two and this was three years ago
How often do I put the Epsom salt in? Just one time per water change?
Good stuff. I would do the epson salt first. Make them poop. Get them nice and hungry then hit them with the food.
I have an electric blue jack dempsey that’s been sick for about a week and a half. I started treating the hospital tank the day after I noticed it with prazipro, which was recommended by the local fish store. I wasn’t noticing any results with that so the other day I saw your video and started treating with metroplex, focus, and garlic guard. However he’s not eating. I plan on treating the tank with epsom salt when I get home today. I was wondering if you had any other tips or tricks I could try because I’m starting to worry. Thank you so much.
Great video thanks a lot I am currently doing the metro garlic focus..I have question bout paraguard do I take carbon out when I put that in? And I have been treating food everytime I feed my fish is this correct way to do it? Thanks for videos and feedback
thank i had 2 fish like that before with the eye problem i didnt know what to do so just let them go so that medication cure your fish?
Hi Thanks for the information on this video.
Please advise me can I use api general cure in the water instead of in food because my discus fish refuse medicated food!
Also please also advise me what shall I do in future to prevent my fishes from parasites, please note I do not feed life food I only feed standker beef heart and granules
Thank you
How often should u use para guard as a preventive main
