    Craig!
Cord Cutting is a constant evolution.
One thing my family learned from cord cutting nearly 6 years ago is that we don’t need a live TV service. Granted, we finally got rid of the last one we used last summer, but we realized our habits changed enough that it wasn’t necessary anymore.
With no contracts and just about every show available on demand the next day, live TV is going the way of the dinosaur.
That said, we do have an antenna for local news and football. That was a one time investment, not a monthly subscription.

  • @mitsoku3

My argument would be, why would I want a cable replacement or slim version, wouldn't the point of cord cutting be just getting a normal streaming subscription with internet?

Craig, one thing that people leave out. If you use cable or satellite, you still are going to have internet. With that said internet cost shouldn't be included in the formula since most households would have internet anyway. Thanks for all your informative videos. Alan Sides

Yeah my cable cost was about $115 a month plus about $70 a month for equipment rental ( for a couple of TiVo boxes) plus an assortment of taxes fees and that CC charges. That ran it up over $200.

Sounds pretty right on to me Craig. My DSL service is $50 a month for life (so they say). However I paid $200 for the modem. It comes in at a Max of 84 Mbps, which is plenty. How I save my money over one year is unsubscribing to RUclips TV between May and September each year. I just go with the free services. You see I really only need all the local channels and the ESPN family for NFL football & college basketball. My antenna only works for CBS and PBS. I live in a canyon in the country. If I lived in town I probably wouldn't even subscribe to RUclips TV. My total cost for internet and live streaming per year comes in at just over $1,100. I'm happy with that for now. Have a good one you all!

  • @fickedyodad2137
    @fickedyodad2137 Год назад +2

For me cable is still cheaper than having streaming services for what I consume. The reason being is that the majority of the shows I watch are all on different services. If I say 90% of them were on one service I wouldn’t mind paying for two to get the extra 10%. But as it stands I’d be at about $15 more per month over my spectrum. This includes HBOMax and Showtime.
It all depends on what you watch.

  • @fawkkyutuu8851

Cord cutting will always be superior because of the optional month to month modularity.
The only real possible problem Is If you just have to have one of the full live tv streaming services
which ballooned In price over the last 5 years and are now back In cable territory , but If you can live with 2 or 3 smaller on demand non-live tv streaming services at $10 - $15 a peice , you save alot.

My Xfinity bill was killing me. Made me sick for a bunch of junk that we did not watch.
Philo + OTA + 1TB fiber up and down and no data cap is $100. Beats any $150 Xfinity low tier package any day and do not worry about going over the cap. And if I need dvr I can add channels dvr + and record philo and OTA(plus Pluto and other TV everywhere channels and I get over 1000 channels I never watch :/ - options). I can do it the way I want and do not need to rent boxes that have limited capabilities.

Craig, for me it is more than just the money, it is the freedom. I am still a bit lower than I was when I had cable. With the streaming services, I can watch them from anywhere in the US. I am much happier with streaming services than I was with cable. Internet, well I have kept the same service for the past 2 years.
Subject change - Craig, would you consider doing a monthly reviews live? I know the weekly was getting to be too much for you. Even every 6 weeks, a live would be good.

This comparison also assumes you wouldn’t have internet if you weren’t streaming. Pretty sure people use internet for quite a bit more than watching TV. Even if you take half of the $45 a month and put that toward the TV you’re still in pretty good shape with all the services.

Comcast here in North NJ charges $65 for their Connect internet, which is 75 mbps.
They charge $87 for their Connect More internet, which is 200 mbps.
I have Verizon 5G Home Internet for $50 per month, which has been working great. That is paired with a Roku streaming device and RUclips TV. My total monthly cost is $123 for TV and Internet.
This is saving me $20 per month than when I had Comcast. I find the RUclips TV channel lineup to be comparable with the Comcast TV Popular TV plan, which I had.

I assume your average Cable TV cost of $114 did not include Internet service. I assume most families will have Internet for other purposes, so that needs to be factored in when moving to streaming which lowers the cost of moving to streaming. Interesting cost reductions on Internet costs. Will this change as cable companies' lose TV service subscribers?

One thing about Sling that needs to be mentioned. Is that you can switch back-and-forth between sling orange and sling blue anytime you want and it will not cost you any extra on your bill. Your bill will still be $40 plus tax. I did this during football season. Sling orange has ESPN so I would have that to watch Monday night football. Sling blue on the other hand did have the Fox local channel in my area. So on Sundays I would have Sling blue so I can watch the games on Fox.
Also, another way you can save is to have Sling and also have Paramount plus, Peacock, and Hulu. That way you get all the primetime shows that are on CBS, NBC, ABC, and fox the next day. And of course you can watch them anytime you want. And if you take a vantage of the Black Friday deals That they all offer you can really save some money that way. Also with Paramount plus and Peacock, you get live NFL football for the CBS and NBC games games that are broadcast into your market.
As of now fox does not have that option. You have to watch the game on fox TV.

It is if you have a data cap on internet. If all of your tv is now streamed, then you will be using a lot more of your allocated data. If you go over your cap, then the extra fees could keep you from the savings you anticipated. I currently use over half of my internet allocation just surfing the net every day (along with my wife and daughter). If i start using additional data for all our tv needs then I will likely go way over my allocation and start pay fees for overages. Kind of a toss up for me.
