I like not making a 5 minute mistake at the end. 2nd try Dampe.
100% is now officially faster than Glitchless! (Glitchless record - 3:40:49)
The big new trick in this run compared to older 100% runs is the use of Stale Reference Manipulation or SRM. It can do a lot of things, but in this run, its used to get a bunch of items in Zora's River by manipulating a function in a butterfly and changing it into a function that can give link items (starts at 14:25). This run still has source requirement though, meaning none of the items I get from that glitch actually count towards 100% completion, but having a lot of those items early just speeds things up, even if it means I essentially have to get some items twice.

This shows the difference between the calm rational American and the hyper emotional European when confronted with what they seek, this allows the American to rapidly adapt and continue pushing forward at unprecedented speed.

same, but I always watch it multiple days sometimes fast forwarding to the last position in memory until I've watched everything. So relaxing to hear gameplay from childhood games and I love zfg so yea.

I've been watching OOT speedruns for years now, and I still have no idea how half this shit works. I'm still impressed how people can figure these tricks out, let alone make them work under pressure in a speedrun.
It's called living in your mothers basement and never getting laid.

@@mizutofu Because pushing a game to its limits to beat it in the quickest possible time is amazing, especially when a "normal" playthrough can take 10x as long. If you want to see a regular speed run why not look at the glitchless catergories?

The magic of a new trick. Skyward Sword has the craziest progression I've ever seen. 5 hours to 2 hours and a half I think in a few days

I loved playing Zelda Ocarina of time as a child, and even today when I grow up, I still really like it, such a cool, beautiful game! Really cool to watch you play. Very entertaining

I'm just here to say how much better this game is compared to breadth of the wild. The music, the feeling, the story is much better. Crazy that it was made in 1998, talk about being ahead of its time. Maybe the combat system is better in botw but nothing else in my opinion.

I look away between wind and boots and I'll be damned if that monster lead didn't get lost. Talk about a recovery. I'll always be blown away by the hard work yall put in. Only way of be ever to beat the game that quick is if I rented it from the video store and it had a completed save.

Normally, if you grab an item, the game makes this block of 1s and 0s that represents that item, then it gives link a "pointer" (sort of like a claim check) to that block of 1s and 0s. In this case, however, the game deleted the item right as he grabbed it, but the game still gave him a claim check to whatever item is in that block of memory. However, after this, it didn't remember to save that block of 1s and 0s. It went, "Oh, I'm done with this block, so I can write new stuff here instead." So, the game wrote new 1s and 0s over that. However, Link still has his claim check to whatever item is in that space. All the pausing and turning and setup was just to make the game write out a bunch of 1s and 0s to make the block that Link had a claim check for contain a bunch of items. Some items (like songs and the hookshot) can't be thrown, so when he tries to throw whatever he is holding (which he has now changed to this big glob of useful, unthrowable items), the game just drops them on his head. That's sort of a simplified answer, but it gives the general idea.

Just getting into speed runs. This all just seems like dark wizardry to me.
I think about it sometimes how much my childhood games are broken and manipulated, without hacks or editing the cartridge!

There are literally people who can beat it in under 10 minutes for any%. I mean, a sub-4-hour 100% run is still incredible, though.

I was a huge fan of this game when I was younger. But can someone please tell me what the HELL he did at the end? He literally glitched into the wall and used bombs to drop down and somehow got into the end game cut scene but doing it? My mind is confused rn.
