  • A "short Video" about the new Nikon Zf camera. I had it for a couple of weeks and had some experience shooting it now. A review might be coming in a future video, but this is just some thoughts about the camera and some reactions to some of the things i have heard other people on youtube like or not like. And a slideshow with some images shot with the Zf these couple of weeks.
    I also like to say its just my opinion and not here to offend any people enjoying better grips or liking other type of ISO seups etc or not a fan of the Micro SD cards! ;)
    7:56 My Key features for wanting the Zf
    12:60 Things that i wish for...
    14:30 Wrap up, conclusion and Slideshow to follow.

    The Zf is a great camera. The pixelshift (i use in Landscape photography) is fenomenal, and it’s the absolute “low light” master. Zf with the Z 70-180mm f/2.8 is a great combo, very well balanced, easy to handle. Greetings from Arthur, from Holland. 👋

      Thank you for your comment and great to hear from someone doing landscape that its a great camera for that, using the pixelshift. Would love to try that out. Especially since i enjoy landscape more and more myself and being out in nature quite a lot too :) Do not have any of the "better " Z lenses as of yet, but have some great F lenses, among those the 24mm f1,4 G lens being a favourite earlier on my Nikon Df to use for landscapes. As well as some older nice manual Nikkor lenses. But might add any of the Z lenses that are great in the future.
      Greetings back from Sweden :)

    Out of curiosity, do you plan to use any of the lenses you used on your Leica on this camera via an adaptor?

      Hi :) Yes! i have already used the 35mm f1,4 Nokton on it, as well as the Summicron 50mm f2 Rigid, i mention it in my "new lenses for ZF video" here in the catalogue as well as show some of the images i have taken with the Zf+leica lens :) I only show images from the Summicron and Canon LTM lens with leica mount though as i liked those two lenses from my leica setup the best thus far. The favorite being the summicron Rigid which i really liked the images that came out with the Zf. beautiful glow and rendering.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504  7 месяцев назад

      I have no idea , since I never have owned any of the better Sony cameras . But from what I have seen in any reviews it seems very good in comparison to other great cameras with good Af. I think what sets it apart is the new features with the eye magnifying with manual lenses etc . For me coming from older non mirror less cameras it’s a huge difference . I’m used to manually focusing though and trained to do that quite fast so anything newer than 20 years is fast enough for me 😅🤷‍♂️

      Haha, sorry, just my bad "sense of humor" . I had an idea to make a follow up to my Df review and making the Df jellous over the "new sibling" and sort of put himself "in the spotlight" ( hence the cheering and switching to the df images and then the zip sound to pull him out of his Ego glorifying moment ) and then finally the cheers come up for the right camera in the end...the Zf ;)
      But yeh...i realized it might look fun in my mind but be totally a miss for others, so you always take that chance haha.
      Thank you so much for watching and at least finding the rest of the video to be ok to watch, happy about that :)

    Nice images and first impression.
    Would love to hear your thoughts compared to the M240, particularly in terms of size and handling. I am considering the Zf to replace and be a happy mix between my M240 and Sony A7 series camera.
    The manual focus experience of both would obviously be different, with each having their pros/cons. Just wondering more about the feel of them in actually usage. Is the Zf much larger?

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504  7 месяцев назад +3

      Hi Craig and thank you :D Ok i will try and give my honest impression regarding how they are compared to eachother.
      Sometimes things are so subjective so im a bit scared to give you an impression and then when you get it you feel totally different.
      But i would say as far as weight to go if you have a smaller lens on the ZF, its not that much difference in general. When i walk around with the Nikon 40mm f2 on it feels lighter, but if i have something like the 58mm f1,4 Voigtlander it might be the same or a little bit heavier. So similar in that regard. size a M240 with an elmarit is pretty small, so a little smaller than a Zf with lens, but not a big difference.
      Handling is a bit like the focus experience id say, its different first of all. The M240 just feels so well built, and handling the way the Leica cameras are designed feels more "unique" and rewarding and special. It always makes you want to pick it up and shoot. I would not say its "better", because when i use the Zf its a better tool for me than how i shoot with my M240. But it gives me an experience i dont get with the Zf. And i had the Zf too little to really give a final opinion, i had the M240 so much longer.
      So time will tell if the Zf will make me feel the same way down the line. However, i still have my Df and i really like shooting with that still, and i must say that the Zf is in my opinion better designed, a better tool and it makes me want to shoot with it even more, it really inspires me. So thats a very promising thought :)

    • @craig_cunha
      @craig_cunha 7 месяцев назад

      @@martinandreasson5504 thanks for the detailed reply. Good info and honestly, what I expected. I haven’t held the Zf yet (out of stock everywhere here), but although well built, I doubt it will feel as solid as the M240.
      I am trying to simplify my kit, and as much as I love the Leica, it’s not ideal for everything I shoot, so I use my Sony for those instances.
      I think the Zf could be a good compromise. And with any compromise, you give something up.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504  7 месяцев назад +2

      @@craig_cunha Exactly that Craig, it really depends on the phase your in and what works for you best right then and there. I use to have the Leica Q and it was more or less that void i tried to fill with the Zf now. I shot some of my favorite family photography and street on that camera.
      And with the M240 it is just a slower experience. Back then i did not shoot film as much when i got it, now i feel i get some of that experience with other analog RF cameras, or other older medium format cameras.
      So i felt i needed to think more practical and also to simplify. And by choosing the Zf i can fill that void with a "small" camera that has good Af and still give great pictures while at the same time also use those same lenses i have already.
      But yeh a part of me will miss the M240, but i get something else that feels right for now and the future, also i save 2 M lenses that i pan on using on a future analog M2, so hopefully that will come to fruition at some point, and i can get the Leica experience there too again :)

      @@martinandreasson5504 Ha, I have a Leica Q-P as well. Not sure I can give that one up, as it’s just a great family/travel camera - small enough, easy to use with AF, decent macro, IBIS, etc.
      If I get the Zf, I will get the 28 and 40 cupcakes, so that Zf 28 combo could sub for the Q series. We’ll see.
      Thanks again.

    I prefer the Zfc, it’s much lighter and smaller, truer to the FM2 spirit ergonomic wise. I could not figure out how to hold the Zf comfortably without adding an external grip which adds even more weight to it. But of course the Zf is a much more capable camera than the Zfc.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504  7 месяцев назад

      The ZFc sizewise is a nicer size of course :) I just felt underwhelmed a bit when i was handling it and coming from the Df i wanted something more robust. And most of all FF, so in that regard i could not justify buying it. Another thing that i remember thinking looked a bit odd was the larger Z mount o that small camera body, i really prefer the look of the Zf combined with that mount as far as design goes.
      But otherwise its a sexy camera :)

    I have to choose (eventually):-
    Keep my D750
    Upgrade to D780
    Swap for a DF
    Upgrade to a ZF
    The problem is that I have some AF-D lenses. If Nikon did a FTZ with focus motor it would be obvious to go for the ZF, but they don't.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504  7 месяцев назад

      yeh the adaptor kind of turned me off at first too, and of course id have preferred the Zf without one. Would be the ultimate camera for me coming from the F mount and having some glass already from before. Is there something im missing though, the AF-D lenses would work fine like my F lenses with AF? The only con i see is the adapter in itself adding girth and weight.
      i think financially if all you want is an upgrade id go for the 780, less expensive, and a more sound upgrade from your D750 which at least is similar in more ways.
      The DF would not be an upgrade, but a camera id choose over the D780 in every regard but not because its a better camera, more because of the sensor and look which i like a lot more( obviously :P )
      I think if you want the best "upgrade" but then also have to deal with the adapter and a much higher price, id choose the ZF. Also if you really like the look and can get around the feeling of the adapter etc you have a very nice looking camera which is very very capable and an upgrade at the same time :)
      /regards Martin.

    • @PJ-om2wq
      @PJ-om2wq 7 месяцев назад

      @@martinandreasson5504 prices of grey import D780 are now getting low enough that if I buy one and put it through my company's accounts and then sell the D750 which is old enough to be fully depreciated off of the accounts, it's nearly a free upgrade.
      The same is not true of a ZF plus a standard zoom; that's significantly more expensive.

    • @RyougiVector
      @RyougiVector 7 месяцев назад

      Many AF-D primes are small because they use the AF motor in the camera instead of putting one into the lens. All of Nikon's official adapters lack this motor so there is no autofocus with the AF-D lenses. It's an oversight on Nikon's part.
