New Pentax, New Gear, Photography update!
A Photography update about some new gear i have acquired last couple of months, as well as the current gear i love using and will spend time with over the summer. This includes both Analog cameras and Digital cameras as well as accessories that helps me in my Photography.
This will be the first update but i am working on a second update concerning the gear i have not talked about in this video.
Per usual i have included some photos i have taken with the gear i discuss in the video to some cheesy music .
Thank you to all the people that continue to support and look at the content i create here.

    Beautiful video, thank you for it. Coming from Pentax cameras, I was wondering if the Nikon Df has an Auto-ISO mode? If so, would you be able to set it from the body controls or do you need to access the menu? I have been shooting with Nikon since 1983 and switched to Pentax in 2012 when I went digital. I still have my Nikon lenses and my old Nikkormat FT3 body. I'm thinking of going back to Nikon and this would be an interesting camera.

      Thank you so much :) Love Pentax cameras and have shot with several film Pentax over the years. Also always been interested in how their digital bodies are like. Had a lady friend always shooting Pentax at photography school swearing by them. I Used to have my Auto ISO button fixed to a Fn button on the front if i recall correctly. S pretty sure that is possible :) That is awesome, if you still have the old Nikkors or any other F mount lenses the Df would seem like a very nice transition into the system :D /regards Martin.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504 Месяц назад

      If you really like the sensor in your D4 and want a smaller package but not too worried about the af speed or less ergonomic body( although less weight! ), id really consider it :) I still have the D4 for when i need it and cant see myself getting rid of that until it breaks down. Hopefully it will soldier on a while longer.

    • @Megadad60
      @Megadad60 Месяц назад

      Thank you. Eventually I will have to find lighter alternatives, I guess - a D4 and the "holy trinity" of 2,8's are quite heavy to carry the whole day - and I consider taking my old non-zoom lenses out of the cupboard instead. I tried the Zf during a presentation by Matthias Klum today, and that camera really needs a better grip. So the D4 stays for a while.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504 Месяц назад

      @@Megadad60 hehe yeh, the D4 is a beast with the bigger lenses. I dont have all my F lenses left, but i kept the 24m f1m4 G, the 58 G, the 70-200 and the 105mm f1,4. All i need really, sometimes miss the 24-70 but they are so cheap now so might get that one back at some point. But yeh, it becomes heavy with all those except maybe the 58mm . The d4 is a great camera, but its nice to have a backup thats lighter i find. The Zf is a really good camera, love min, but i wont put any of the bigger F lenses on it. feels unbalanced and i hate the way it tooks too. So i only use the lighter Z SE lenses ( 28mm and 40mm ) and for those its perfect, but also to adapt vintage lenses its so much fun and works so well. So if you want the F lenses with a smaller body i think the Df must be the best bet out there :), especially if you like the look of it and that magical sensor sauce ;)

  • @graxxor
    @graxxor Месяц назад

    Anyone else who owns a Df watching this? I love my Df and will likely never part with it. There is just something extremely theraputic about using this body. The "analoguey" feel of it really makes taking photos fun. The 16MP sensor has INCREDBILE low light capability and is forgiving of older, cheaper glass. The small body size makes the camera easy to carry and unobtrusive. I tend to use it with old D series prime lenses which are themselves light and compact.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504 Месяц назад

      Thank you :) The Df is one of a kind. Having bought the Zf i can still say the Df has and always will have a special place in my heart. If one can live with the Dfs shortcomings and has needs for the strengths of the Df there is no other camera out there with the same capabilities for me. And as you say the 16 Mp files are incredible, and even at high ISO the images never look off, just if anything organic and analog :)

    Hi Martin, I’ve just discovered your videos. Excellent work. The Voightlander 40 1.2 is on my wish list. I still have the Nikon Z7 having come from Fuji because the cameras and controls were too small for my large hands. I love the Z7 but yearn for the Zf analogue controls. The DX mode in the Z7 gives me two focal lengths per lens which I use frequently. Is there a DX mode on the Zf? If there is I could be persuaded to swap. Greetings from UK.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504 Месяц назад

      Hello Christian and Thank you so much :) I think the Zf for me at least have really ended up somewhere in the same spot when it comes to filling that digital/analog void between analog and digital cameras for me. Similar to the Df for me. Although to be fair the Zf looks better and feels more modern. The sensor i the Df is still my favorite, but the other tools you get with the Zf kind of nullifies that edge . And speaking of the VL 40mm it makes the Zf an even better candidate for that spot. Just wish Nikon had their own, and still wishing they will in the future , make a Nikkor lens with that nice aperture ring and nice feel like the old styled lenses had. Fingers crossed! About the DX mode, im not using any DX lenses myself, and just making a quick search i see many saying that the Zf adjust when you put a DX lens on, but dont take my word for it having that mode you speak of. But im betting it does :) I hope that it does and you in the end get the Zf, its a wonderful camera, although with some quirks like all cameras. Going to make some sort of review on it after even more time with it. Have some more lens testing to do, and also puting it through some more shooting situations before i have the best overall view of this camera. Regards Martin.

Today I saw a LX7 in a shop but the photos I saw online don't catch my attention, as if they had not much soul, as with the LX3. Hey ! Thanks a lot for your kind comment first of all :) I never tried the Lx7 actually, but you might very well be on to something there. Thats the case with many cameras and lenses i feel that are newer. The quest for companies back the was after all to produce a lens and camera combo that felt as modern as possible and with sharp and truth to life tones etc. Unfortunately for us liking character and a film look does not hehe. So the newer the lens and camera that is the case it seems. I bought the LX3 new and loved it. Still have it and it's working well. Decided to upgrade and considered the LX5 but read that it wasn't much better. Bought a used LX7 with an eye level finder at a good price. Much better that the LX3 and probably the LX5 too. Still my main camera. Good 1080p video. Go for the LX7. A bit more money but worth it IMO. Get a 3 blade auto lens cap. You won't regret it after the annoying cap on a string.

      Now have a variety (LX2, GF1, GF2, GX1, LX7, TZ90, GX880)of Lumix models and tend to use the LX7 the most closely followed by the TZ90 for a majority of the time, unless I want to use a fixed prime like the Panasonic 25mm Summilux.

    I had both the LX3 and the LX5, but preferred the 3. In the end I got rid of both of them because here in Japan the menus are locked in Japanese and the language can’t be changed. Sony does the same thing so Sony and Panasonic are both off the table for me.

    I bought a new LX5 back in 2011 and must admit to it being one of my favourite cameras. I bought a couple of genuine Panasonic accessories, including the EVF and the tube extension, allowing me to use filters. The lens on the LX5 has slightly more reach, and I find the range 24-90 covers most of my photographic needs. I never go above 400 iso and predominately shoot jpeg as I now prefer to be out shooting rather than sitting processing RAW files. When i have my days out on my motorcycle, this is the camera I take with me.

      The LX5 was a great little camera, and i also recall it being slightly better at creating separation when you wanted to take something more akin to a portrait with it which made it even more versatile than the LX3 :) I will most likely add the LX5 in the future if i can find one in decent condition and for the right price . Also the LX7 as i never got to try it out, but rather got the Fuji X-T1 and left the LX series after the LX5. I hear you, i have some awesome cameras both analog and digital, but i tend to grab what is the lightest and easiest 80% of the time nowadays, and lately since i got them back again, the LX3 is in my bag a lot :) So handy and fun to use. Thank you. Regards Martin.

    Beautiful pictures. I have no plans to get a DF, but watching your "review" was very well worth every second. That's the "Dream" combo of primes you have there. I just can't imagine travelling with primes (Maybe a 50 or a 35mm at most). The 24-120 was a life saver in my most recent family trip and I still regret not taking the 28-85 instead. Going around with a set of primes requires dedication (or a dedicated trip), but those beautiful pictures are gold and worth it.

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504 4 месяца назад

      Thank you so very much, both for watching and your comment :) Appreciated. A zoom for traveling is a savior when it comes to miss shots so absolutely not a bad idea. I always went with primes even though i did shoot with he 24-70 many years. And for weddings etc i could not shoot with only primes, so always use the 24-70 and the 70-200( except on the df too as its too big and heavy ). And in those instances its so nice to have them as well i the tool kit. But yes, when it comes to that special character and you get do nail a good shot a prime makes it a bit more unique and nice in the end for sure :) /regards Martin.

    I wished the Zf would have been made for f-mount glass 😢.... (in fact the whole z - line) I was heavily invested in Nikon F mount glass for my D700. Tried the Z5 2 years ago, but found the ZF adapter to be a real pain in the backside. I eventually sold the Z5 and most my lenses, only kept the Voigtländers 40/2 & 56/1.4 andthe PCE 24 and 45 for nostalgic days 😊 For daily stuff I use the Fuji xe4 and XH2s. Btw, somehow sad to hear you sold your DF! Thx for sharing your thoughts on the Zf and glass!

    • @martinandreasson5504
      @martinandreasson5504 4 месяца назад

      I hear you, and agree completely! I still have my favorite F glass left. I havent used it on my ZF but still have my Nikon D4 for them. Also have a Nikon F100 which its nice to use on from time to time. But yeh, would have been amazing if it had been F mount on the Zf, for me it would have been a "worthy" replacement for my Df. Now speaking of that the DF will never really be replaced totally by my new Zf, it will be something else, a great and fun camera making me able to do other things i could not with the Df. But the magic of the Df sensor and those F lenses will always in my opinion be unmatched in a way sadly .. So yeh i also miss it and will occasionally. But i have taken so many photographs i love with it over the years, so will always have them at least. And maybe down the line il get another one if i find one in decent condition hehe :D
