Ja I enjoyed this guy at his best, I just never understood why he didn't win a longer time trial in the tour and give Indurain a carrot there he had the pedigree for it if you can do the shorter distances of 2minutes or more effort you can do long distance it is a fact.Only sprints use different muscles for 45 seconds or less, he had the lungs to do it potentially.
I'd put boardman above cancellara at their peak, only in the prologue. And only because no one else can focus like boardman. here boardman thrashes riders full to the brim with epo. boardman won clean. QUITE a feat. An amazing athlete, with the best ability ever to focus it all on 5 minutes.
nothing against chris boardman but it was also the shortest ever prologue (i think) i reckon cancellara cud ride that course in less time - and can also be the first person to ride 50k in less than an hour
boardman was a clean rider, rominger was not,and im not 100 per cent sure indurain was clean as well, boardmans power to weight should have made him a tour de france contender but as he was clean he could never recover in long stage races.
he was able to stay with the top riders over a week but then did not recover as well as them.he produced the right amount of power and was the right weight to win a tour de france.this was said by greg lemond,so why didn't chris finish high in a tour de france because he was clean.all the top riders of the time where taking epo,it is well known that from about 1992 onwards epo was being used by some top pros and as years went by most pro riders where force to take it to get work,so yes I believe chris and a few others stayed clean.

Nope. Boardman had a medical condition that lowered his testosterone levels and caused severe osteoporosis, and he could have received a medical exemption to take supplemental testosterone; but he refused.
After your logic every track sprinter ever was ckean because "doping doesn't help on short distances". I think we need to call Justin Gatlin and Ben Johnson that they can stop doping now since it "doesn't help that much on 100m since it is a short distance"
Everyone that plays down Lemond's TT is an absolute wanker. I'd like to see CB do 55kmph after 2000 miles of racing, but the rides are incomparable for this very reason. Yes this is a good TT, but Lemond's was over 3 times longer and almost just as fast. Basically, all this bickering is useless. Boardman was best at short TT in the prologue, Cancellara is modern TT 4 time world champion, and Lemond was able to will himself to victory in '89 TDF with a devastating TT time.
Lemond was a much better all round rider than Chris, who was a TT specialist. He even managed to win 2 TDFs after his brother in law had blasted him with a shotgun in a hunting accident. If Greg hadn't been shot, he might have been able to win 5 consecutive Tours de France ... and without using EPO.

Brilliant observation that. Of course we all know how effective drug testing was, particularly in the 1990s when EPO wasn't even detectable and out-of-competition testing was a farce. I'd like to think that Boardman was clean, but passing drug tests doesn't prove anything.
He didn't turn up positive for EPO in backdated tests. I was shocked
@@treygray2817 Boardman said in an interview that he never doped because he was shit scared that if he did, he would have tested positive and his reputation would have been in pieces. I don't think he ever took EPO. Which means that with a bit of luck, he will live longer than a lot of the other top riders of that generation.
For sure he was juiced
Nope. Boardman had a medical condition that lowered his testosterone levels and caused severe osteoporosis, and he could have received a medical exemption to take supplemental testosterone; but he refused.
I have dream. After Tour The France will there a Tour The Indonesia it will take 2 months to finish it.
He was so doped1🧪💉💉💊💊

Ja I enjoyed this guy at his best, I just never understood why he didn't win a longer time trial in the tour and give Indurain a carrot there he had the pedigree for it if you can do the shorter distances of 2minutes or more effort you can do long distance it is a fact.Only sprints use different muscles for 45 seconds or less, he had the lungs to do it potentially.
no drugs and he wins a tour de france pro logue. Massively talented. Without drugs who knows how many he would have won.
No más corridas de toros mejor planta un arbol y adopta un perro o un gato de algún refugio todavía estamos a tiempo de salvar el planeta 🌏
Even after all the bullshit cycling went though
people couldn't give less crap about the honest cyclist that's not doping...
humans are sad
nope
Fair enough......but the Lotus bike was banned by the UCI for a reason...
I'd put boardman above cancellara at their peak, only in the prologue. And only because no one else can focus like boardman. here boardman thrashes riders full to the brim with epo. boardman won clean. QUITE a feat. An amazing athlete, with the best ability ever to focus it all on 5 minutes.
nothing against chris boardman
but it was also the shortest ever prologue (i think)
i reckon cancellara cud ride that course in less time - and can also be the first person to ride 50k in less than an hour
boardman was a clean rider, rominger was not,and im not 100 per cent sure indurain was clean as well, boardmans power to weight should have made him a tour de france contender but as he was clean he could never recover in long stage races.
and you know that boardman was clean because...?
he was able to stay with the top riders over a week but then did not recover as well as them.he produced the right amount of power and was the right weight to win a tour de france.this was said by greg lemond,so why didn't chris finish high in a tour de france because he was clean.all the top riders of the time where taking epo,it is well known that from about 1992 onwards epo was being used by some top pros and as years went by most pro riders where force to take it to get work,so yes I believe chris and a few others stayed clean.
Chris was actually refused a TUE for testosterone, due to his condition, osteopenia. Pre Tour de France days as an amature cyclist, he had a VO2 Max that was compatible to Saïd Aouita. It was VO2 max that was the reason that Lance Armstrongs figures didn't add up - and this was Greg LaMonds argument for a long time. VO2 max was a more acurate measure of natural ability. Boardman didn't dope. If had, some one who could produce the wattage that he did for his first hour recored and could have consistantly road and recovered (a lack of testosterone prevented that) would have gone on to challange overall. Boardman did what his body allowed and did it well.
Indurain was a Conconi client. He definitely doped.
Absolutely. Anyone who remembers him destroying the entire field of doped riders on ascent after ascent whilst looking as fresh as a daisy knows he doped.
Fixed gear????
Michael Schumacher was that fast on the bike? Wow.
@genderpretender i don't think cancellara could
best in Doping yes...!! very good!!

Boardman only won in very short time trials, where doping wouldn't have helped quite as much
After your logic every track sprinter ever was ckean because "doping doesn't help on short distances".
