got this one in the black a month ago, wore it on holiday in the pool and i love it, in the sun the dial just pops i find myself staring at it. I know its not everyones taste but for me its a work of art
I bought this watch ... not on a lark exactly, but without my usual amount of going mental about it beforehand. And it just wears and wears. Beautiful, deadly accurate, tough as nails, etc. Works great on straps too. Great watch.
This watch is a thing of beauty, and has to be a classic. This watch kicks the Submariner in the arse when it comes to looks, price and overall quality.
If you hold both watches in your hand, you will not say that. Omegas feel super cheap and the hand feel says it all. I dont really know where you are coming from with this. Even Tudor is better than this.
I have been wearing the blue dial for a week now, it’s my first luxury watch purchase. I bought it at a AD and managed to get a $900 discount. I had originally wanted a Rolex sub but couldn’t find one at the AD (I know big surprise). Love the omega I think even better than the Rolex. I think the aqua terra might be my next watch and since I was saving for the Rolex sub I have the money already set aside. I wanted to buy myself a nice watch for my 50th birthday and now I will have two. Keep up the great videos I really enjoy watching them.
3:10 i own this exact watch in white. I really can't fault it. I know that the helium escape valve is controversial but i really like it. Its a good conversation piece and it highlights the heritage that Omega has as a brand. It has a helium escape valve because it was developed as a solution to a real problem that was faced. When deep saturation diving took off dive computers hadn't been invented yet. Real divers breathing exotic gas mixtures really wore Omega watches and it was noticed that the helium pressure built up and popped the crystal upon surfacing.
Just picked mine up and I couldn’t be happier with it! Also bought the strap and I prefer it even more than the bracelet - lighter, slimmer and don’t have to worry about scratching that huge clasp.
Love the look of this and think black is increasingly my favourite even if I really should mix it up a bit with others in my small collection… BUT, do we think a new version should be due soon? What do you think, worth holding on for that if we think it may be updated soon?
Great review glad you pointed out the fact you won't loose a lot of money if you decide to sell also the service time is very important as well from my experience ten years seem's a bit conservative if not abused and wore every day no problem then we come to the accuracy. I don't think omega can be beaten in this price range
Just bought one in blue. Been looking at it for a while, I tried on loads of alternatives, but came right back to the diver 300m. The only watch that I would have bought over it would have been the GO SeaQ but it 3 times the price and I didn’t prefer it that much and there’s other GO I’d buy if I were spending that sort of money. And the Seamaster is the better watch.
My first luxury watch exactly and I relish that I get to wear it for decades to come. Bought it on the bracelet but ordered the rubber strap last summer. It truly is at its best on the rubber. Sure, it's dressed down quite a bit, but save another watch for fancy occasions and the rubber strap will be better in 98% of scenarios
Love my blue dial, previous version. Between it and my Speedmaster I have two amazing watches for less than a Submariner. The only Rolex I've ever been interested in is the new Oyster 41. That really is a pretty cool watch, but only at AD/MSRP prices. The secondary market can go screw itself. Omega has watches to sell and treats you like a valued customer.
I own the 2017 version and love thus watch. I could've purchases a Submariner but prefer this Omega instead. I do own a few rolexes but not the popular models... I also own three Omegas and feel they are better for the money
I really don’t like comparing this watch to any other dive watch with that being said I’ve owned mine for over 2 years and its the complete package with best accuracy at the $5200 will not disappoint!
It's such a great watch and personally I think it's worth comparing to the giants in the dive watch industry. Great value and event better production. Cheers and thank you for the comment.
What no one ever stresses is the fact that the SM can be had up to 20% discount new and no one can actually get a sub at an AD. Subs routinely sell for up to 100% over list used or from the grey market (in canada anyway). So in real life, a sub can sell for as much as 3 times the price of the SM. I’m a Rolex collector and fanboy and I refuse to get a sub from the grey market. I’m going SM300.
I have to say that I have checked the SMP a couple of times at the AD, and I think that it overhyped. It didn't fill as high quality in terms if materials as I expected and I didn't think it looks amazing in person as it looks in macro shots and closeup videos. Quite dissalointing.. I'd stick with my Breitling Superocean ii chrono and maybe go for the PO 600 39.5mm someday.
@@tomislavm2873 come on buddy, explain to me what is an Omega material and what defines it? I will guess that you'll have nothing to say cause that's simply stupid an snobbish.
I totally agree. Why buy some other watches just for the sake of maybe getting a rolex from the AD. Id take the omega and be done with. I have the SMP300 and Speedmaster , and i can confidently say i dont need any other watches. Unless my AD calls me to pick up a sub 😂😂
It’s a no brainer. Omega all day every day. Without the hype Rolex would be an average brand, sold for a normal price. They are definetly not exceptional or special in any way. Only the price is.
Rolex have sold their watches from a snobbery view point with no interest in customers lower down the food chain. On the other hand you have Omega who build the same quality for their customers minus the greed. I have both a date sub and the Seamaster 300 (plus a planet ocean), and for me Omega's Seamaster 300 wins hands down. This beautiful watch has presence without looking at the name 'Rolex' which lets face it is the main selling point over the actual watch itself. At the price the Seamaster is going for at the moment you'd be crazy not to buy one. Ok you may take a small lose selling it, but since Rolex are now ,leaving us mortals behind, you have to wonder which watch will replace the Submariner. Even though my sub is worth more I get far more enjoyment from wearing my Seamaster (which actually gets more favourable comments about it) than my sub. They say Rolex know how to sell watches, but Omega know how to make them......this is so true.
Very well said and thank you for providing your unique experience! I love mine and it has taken up most of the wrist time since I bought it 2 months ago.
With the scarcity of Rolex these days, lots of buyers are jumping over to Omega for the first time and finding that out first hand. I'm excited about Omega's future. Thanks for watching!
Omega makes better watches, but Rolex is a better brand. Rolex is overpriced and overhyped, but when most people think luxury watch they think Rolex. FYI I own three Omega's, and I love each of them.
They just need to taper the bracelet and make the clasp look less like a massive belt buckle. At 0.7mm thick it’s incredibly uncomfortable to wear which is a shame.
Agree. I have the previous model which is a bit smaller all around. I went with it because it was a bit less bulky and because they offered it at a reduced price. Win/win.
Omega made millions of these watches. The value drops by 40-50% when you walk put the door. This is not anything special because so many sold. Swiss seiko.
That bracelet is horrid, looks exactly like it was made and designed decades ago, yuk. I doubt tbh that 1% of people will shower or swim with a dive watch, let alone dive. Nice video, thanks. . . . .it can out perform the Rolex in every way? That’s why it’s so popular, you can simply walk into a load of stores and buy one, mmm, no ta.
I wasn't a fan of the bracelet either but now after having it for 2 months i've really grown to enjoy it. I honestly had to convince myself to look past it when I was buying it and to my surprise it's actually one of the things I enjoy most about the Omega Seamaster 300m.
Also, the oldest bracelets of the SMP feels a lot better and much higher quality. There is a cheap feel and look to the new ones that I can't live with.

Same, i paired mine with a Aqua Terra 8500 blue dial for a sport dress watch!

So true
I bought the white dial and when you mentioned the HE valve after two days of wearing I barely see it tbh 😂 all in all it’s an amazing watch take care
I kinda like the look of the He valve. It’s another tool element on an elegant tool watch.
Brilliant watch and........better than Rolex because you can actually buy one and....with a discount.

The sad thing is that ADs knowingly sell to flippers, whereas I just want to wear it.
I'm being picky but I like a strap thats tapered in.
