The number of setbacks on this project is unbelievable. Kudos for powering though them all. So cool that Alpina reached out to you.
Its also very interesting that i read that Alpina have being purchased by BMW..
So basically Sreten will do a visit to the Alpina department of BMW.. 😄🙃😊
Not bad we are looking forward to see more of these BMW adventures with Sreten..
Proper twist I really jumped out of the couch! And I do believe that this part of the video was a bit too ... Discrete ahah but that's really good to hear
At this point its bad PR for them not to react :)
it's a bmw , they are all garbage ... in the united states bmw are not as popular as american cars or even japanese or korean cars ... but what do i see on the side of the road more than anything (i'm talking newer cars not old junks that shouldn't be on the highway anyway) but BMW is the most common broke down on the highway and i'm a truck driver so i spend 4 days a week driving on the highway 700-750 miles per day
Alpina placed a call because earlier in the build they told Sreten to F*** Off and now they realize how bad they look. That car is financially totaled and is only being rebuilt because Sreten can monetize the content and may receive donated or sponsored parts. Otherwise, that car is sitting in a junkyard with the rest of the unrepaired BMW's.
*Every person who has done a garage re-paint right now:* "If I open my own bodyshop in Germany, I could make a fortune. 🤔"
Right? I could do a better job with this whiteboard marker that's been rolling around on my desk for 8 months. Absolutely shocking how bad the paintjobs have been in Sreten's area.
Hmmm, have you seen this whole episode and how 'enthousiast' Sreten is about German Paint shops?
Will you take the risk of Sreten showing the quality of your paint-work?
@@mverbaan3381 I would put rattle-can spray paints done in my backyard up against the work Sreten showed any day of the week. And I wouldn't even charge €1200. 😁
It was painted by 🇹🇷 person?
@@Svendrys Highly likely.
The alpina guys contacting you is going to be a perfect outcome for all of this suffering and hard work. You should become some sort of ambassador or independent consultant for them after this. Can't think who else would deserve it. Congrats Sreten, you are an inspiration of persistance, hard work and plain unconditional love for these cars.
at this point surely its more a motive of PR crisis management ......!
Honestly Sreten, in my humble opinion you have outclassed the majority of car youtoubers. I thoroughly enjoy watching your episodes. No over the top drama , no fake problems , just honest content. I like the way you present your videos to us viewers and your attention to details. I wish you all the best and may your business grow ever larger!
Santa Barbara TV series is close to nothing compared to this drama 😀
You, sir, win
drama level Ljovsina + Esmeralda combined
Jajajaja 🤣
Lmaoo so true
Baksuz auto😮
You know that this series has reached proper epic levels when it's beginning to have sub-chapters in the story.
After the engine boss was defeated, an unexpected enemy appears! Will the paint saga have a nice end? What colour was it even, to begin with? And who is the mysterious character who has agreed to unlock our hero's potential? Find out more in the next episode of Dragon Alpina Z!
BRAVO!!!!😂
Great comment, i laughed really good reading this.
BTW I really really really want to know the reason why paint on this car is all over the place, and what happened to it. So Sreten if you read this comment please add what you discover about the paint in one of the next episodes of this car. Cheers
The B7 is planet Namek saga
Goddamn filler arcs! We want to go Super Sreten already. 😤
Hahhahahahahah you're the best!
Every time I get demoralized fixing minor items on my e39, I come to this channel to feel better about my small challenges
Agree. A e39 owner, too.
You are the main man
e46 owner here, can relate
Same here😅
😁
When you shown the underbody of the car at the end, it really painted a picture of what you have gone through to restore it... everything is shiny, clean and brand new, like it just left the factory. Really impressive stuff.
That's good that Alpina is trying to repair the relationship - I thought their initial response was a big misstep, made them look very haughty from a car enthusiast's perspective.
They didn't know it was a well known RUclipsr on the other end. Otherwise they would act differently. Lol, I guess I need to start my own channel.
@@theEskalaator but that's even worse, if he hasn't been well influential person, they wouldn't give a shit, but since they found out that their lack of interest have been shown for quite many people, they suddenly seem to care
Yeah, Alpina marketing is in on this 100%. And for that, flip the tables on them and get to the bottom why their service dept dropped the ball and how they can change their policies
This car is making me as a viewer exhausted, props for not giving up. I would have driven this car into the lake and walked home.
Agreed, it would make a nice expensive fishbowl 😂I really hate that car now
I wouldn't go near an Alpina after seeing these videos, company sounds crappy too. Sure now after lots of views they care but not until that point.
Same. I'm honestly amazed he is still giving it another chance. I'd have sold it for parts ages ago.
@@Tr33People Yeah they seem like a brand that just makes expensive unreliable cars like Maserati
@@Tr33People And how's Alpina a crappy company now? I'm curious 🤔
I had anxiety when I heard the noise on the autobahn. Thanks for the emotional roller coaster
I died on the "I sound like a pigeon." Huge congrats to being contacted by Alpina boss.
Alpina B7 - The gift that keeps on giving.. 🤣😭😎
It is nice that Alpina finally contacted you. Taking this car to them will make the ending of this series EPIC. Definitely, the best show on RUclips! You are a legend now!
More like ey man stop making us look bad 😂
Alpina didn't like how this series made them look
@@shadwxero We all make mistakes. The only important thing is to face them and fix them.
Of all the projects, this one is the holy grail, its the never ending money pit from hell that never stops giving, giving to us your glorious fans and admirers episode after episode of ‘if it can go wrong, it will go wrong’ and we love it dearly as we all know that no matter what, a happy ending awaits, and a basket case of a car will end up being reborn as a hero car, emulating its hero mechanic. Epic turd-on-wheels rebirth story. Bravo !!
This is my favorite project. It gives you the most trouble, but you always keep your calm, don't give up, and get the job done.
So, that huge nail in the oil pan wasnt even the weirdest thing about this car.
Right. This car has come from a parallel universe
@@matmul4850 😂
it was a 'good luck charm'
That nail was just voodoo in disguise. ;)
Maybe it`s a 7 series car, rebuilt as an B7? But the WIN would not match then, maybe.
The last bit about the Alpina boss is INCREDIBLY satisfying. Really good to hear that someone like him reached out to you. Demonstrates a great sense of care for his brand and for the BMW/Alpina community out there. Super encouraging outcome. I have one question about Project Chicago (my hometown): will you sell this one? Thank you!
I think he said he will sell it.
He will sell it as soon as it is complete.
Alpina just doesn't want to look bad, and going thru this vehicle the way Sven does, I think we can all say, I'm not completely impressed with some of Alpina's designs and engineering. Just an overpriced overengineered BMW. That people with extra money just throw at it.
@@ItsSerialBoX the E65 was an overengineered car by itself, Alpina multiplied that to a 10.
@@traviswalker8933 so never because it'll never be complete 😂 (although he will definitely find a way)
Imagine having so much impact on such make as Alpina that CEO calls you personally. Really good job, obviously not everyone has means to do such work but your work is an example for most mechanics about how to fix a car. Thank you for showing us all of that without lies, "fixing" car in one week to "100%" funcionality like some RUclipsrs do. Really happy to see it!
They are not dumb, they know this channel is at least a mil+ sub channel. They only care about the social reach. Anyway, it s a win win situation, but it s not an altruistic gesture.
@@jungl3ist It never is. But I can't imagine CEO of Mercedes calling someone because they work on their car. It's a stunt, but a welcome one.
I agree with you . Great work from a dedicated mechanic .
@@jungl3ist I know this comment is 10 months old but this channel has 437 000 subscribers.
@@soklot was talking about future subscriber numbers. Actual potential, with a niche theme
It's a never ending tale with the Alpina, but I'm glad you bring us along and show us both the highs and lows. It's nice to hear that Alpina has reached, this just shows that you now have a very good audience reach and they're taking notice now :D Can't wait to see the X5 get worked on!
370k subscribers and almost 20 million views on the Alpina series, someone at Alpina must of taken notice. The phone call from the CEO is nothing but damage control.
Must have, always have ,never of
Andreas has a great personal reputation. I regret he did not become aware of this project earlier. Maybe the sunroof will get sealed?
Yep, but everybody should know the bad behaviour of Alpina for the spare parts.
Maybe - but I'm willing to bet the usual chain of management bureaucracy got in the way when Streten first made the call. CEO was unaware.
Too bad you have to have a Yutube channel with millions of views to get proper customer service at Alpina. The CEO might be a nice guy, but the company as a whole... not so sure.
Dude that's so amazing that Alpina is actually getting involved and the CEO personally contacted you.
it's awesome. but I'm just gonna say it, they kinda needed to- and not because Sreten was messing up or anything of that sort...
The least Alpina can do is help with this restoration.
There is no other channel that has put so much effort ,money ,time and dedication to an Alpina design and if there is nobody knows it.
The loyalty to the brand and promotion of the name is top tier.
I binge watched all episodes of project Chicago in two days without ever feeling bored ..
That says a lot about the quality of the presentation and even such details as the music that i particularly like or the carefree moments with the pet dog.
Alpina pay attention and show your appreciation.
@@jackobean3962 Alpina reached out not the other way around. And to whom you are reffering to?
The only Alpina BMWs I would want were made in the 80s & 90s. There is NO WAY I would have the patience to deal with that car. We want more Old BMW content.
You know you your videos are good when CEO's of companies are reaching out to you to set things right. Epic video as always.
Holy shit Alpina sponsorship. You're in the big leagues now! Way to go King!
Please beg them to record the HQ tour, that would be amazing to watch!
The patience of Job.
I'm amazed you haven't thrown a grenade into it by now *as well as* setting it on fire.
Respect for your work ethic and attention to detail.
This is a fine channel.
The CEO of Alpina reached out? AND offered a free engine rebuild?! Holly shit Sreten. Imagine reading this to the Sreten of 5 years ago! Amazing, congratulations on everything you achieved so far! I’m blown away
I can’t wait to see the Alpina Factory Episode, I sure hope they allow you to film… Honestly this is some of the best content on you tube…
What do you think... that this is someone's hobby?? :D
Happy to see the engine didn't self-destruct. I totally thought this was the case when I saw the intro!
Project B.O.A.T. = Bust out another thousand. Don't give up you came this far blood, sweat and tears!!! Separation time during paint will be good for this relationship. Class from the Alpina guy!!!
"Nehrajou Vubec Basy" and Sreten's alternate translation would make for a fun shirt!
And this is why, despite my strong interest in this car, I have stayed away. Sreten, thank you for falling on the grenade - it encouraged me to not do the same! You're a braver man than I.
Well, Sreten himself said on the end of the video that if it wasn't for the community who supports him, this project would have drained him (financially I guess). But it truly hurts when you have to take car body parts to paint and when endless problems occur after that, i.e. bad paint, pad prep etc. It is a nightmare and a pain to have to dismantle the car endlessly and to go to body shops and wait on the parts to be painted. It is energy, time and money consuming.
Kudos to Alpina, nice to hear that they want to be involved.
Damage control only. They already told him to fuck off earlier.
After that BMW check they ready to help
That Czech writing on the old unit was "Doesn't play bass at all." I'm really proud of our guys now 😀
Now it's time for Alpina to buy-back this gem and put it on display.
Well done for your heroic patience! Kudos to Alpina for finally seeing the light; you are exactly the kind of person they should be connecting with.
Well, guess it s a smart move from Alpina in terms of PR to contact you.
I wish I could see their faces while watching you swearing about the engine on previous episodes!
😂
Well, in Germany this move is called: Die Kuh vom Eis holen. Which means better they help him now and can pretend to be a nice company then rather being a company who sells fast breaking and overpriced cars.
Sreten: " I found a replacement part for the under-engine protectioncap, it's the former heatshield from the Space Shuttle. Ordered it straight from NASA, so no jokies here my friends"!!!! Keep it up man, your luck has to come around at some point with this devil!
I hope the whole automotive industry and all the shops will see this and take inspiration to do better
Your perseverance is astonishing, and so pleased to hear that Alpina saw the light - if anybody deserves a bit of OEM support it’s you.
Without unnecessarily praising you, you really are my favorite professional-turned-RUclips-Car-Mechanic. Your work is like what BMW does in their million dollar factories infact better.
The amount of patience you have is remarkable. Very glad to see the Alpina back up and running perfectly. Can’t wait to see the next episode. Glad Alpina reached out, shows they care about there products.
Just think. Sometime in the near future, this will be the only perfect, pristine, fully functional Alpina B7 on the planet!
Until something breaks five minutes later. You are a warrior, Streten!
I would have pushed this thing off a cliff around ten episodes ago, if it was mine. Which it would never be, because taking on a project like this is something so daunting, I can't even begin to comprehend how you go about it. Absolutely incredible!
My all time favorite RUclips channel.
So grateful to see all these Bimmers being saved by the Man himself.
I’ve always belived that if you take care of a car, the car takes care of you. It has a soul of sorts. So that it would break down on you after all that you have done seemed strange at first. But I think that she knows that you would not give up and that you are somebody who would finaly do everything for her. So I think she is sad for putting you through all this hardship, but at the end, she never again brake down on you or the future owner.
He offered you a complete engine rebuild?! Considering how much problems there are with that engine such an offer must be the absolute dream of every alpina owner that has a engine that is worn. Such a absolute king he is for offering that!
I am not surprised that Alpina reached out. They are a very special company with a good reputation in Australia.
It is sad that also in Germany below par are found in the body shops as everywhere else.
Only somebody who doesn’t take care of their cars by going to the dealer on every minor matter can relate and appreciate the amount of work this fantastic guy is putting in.
Well deserved call from Alpina’s CEO. Kudos to the CEO for picking up the phone.
Excellent RUclips channel. Please continue to share.
IMO its a problem around the world. Insurance companies don't want to pay for quality paint work since they know most people won't notice even 1% of the imperfections he pointed out in this video.
Oh man that is exciting!
Basically living the dream - now working with the manufacturers. That is going to be a lovely ending!
My heart sank when I saw that intro, but it sank even further when I saw you getting out on the side of the Autobahn.
Really glad no one was hurt and that nothing broke that couldn't be replaced. This car took you through hell and back but you're still marching on, I have nothing but respect for what you do.
That radio clip.... somebody's watching me.... Yep... all your channel subscribers in every episode sir. We're always watching =)
i just started watching this channel and im impressed how unbreakable this man is, only from watching this series i got headache from the problems you encounter, yet you still pulled through. props to you man
Very much agree, for me this is a meditation watching these videos.
It’s like an Alpina Soap Opera. It never ends 🎉
Honestly this project Chicago has been absolutely brilliant, what a car it is, However, I’m not sure if it’s a dream car or an absolute nightmare car…. In the UK we have a saying called it’s a Friday car, I’m beginning to think you’ve actually bought a Friday car in the B7 project.
We absolutely love your Chanel and watch every single one of your posts, keep them coming your unbelievable 👍
the cricket was the proverbial canary in the coalmine lol
respect, mate, awesome job!
This happened to me when 'stress testing' my W211 E55. Went ahead and replaced all factory Mercedes hardware with much thicker and beefier parts. They laughed at me at the dealer because the washers are huge. Factory bolts were some dinky metal that looks like your Alpina in size 8mm. I'm now using stainless steel 14mm, probably overkill but I no more issues. Keep it up, your car is looking great! Cheers from Dallas TX
Great to hear Andreas get in touch! Someone underneath him now has egg on their face for not getting involved sooner!
Ha ha! Getting closer and closer to finally tame this Alpina beast, which by the way showed some character. Kudos for your patience, dedication and determination in spite of all the setbacks that you had with this project (although, for us viewers, it's been a treat). After all Alpina decided to get involved with this project - that's an added bonus for your hard work. You deserve it, Sir! 👍👍
Your resolve and drive (no pun) is admirable Sreten! It's about time ALPINA took notice, they should repaint the whole car!!!
Well done man!
It's sad to see the bad quality paint job. Germany as a feinschmecker country totally fails on this part. Here in Norway we pay approximately the same and a good quality paint shop would not have painted the parts without having the car in their workshop. My F01 had a new paint on the front door and they also painted front bumper and rear door to avoid color mismatch.
Cool to see Alpina contacting you, too bad they are too late to the party though. Cant wait to see a tour from their facilities 🥰
Hero. Never ending humor and persistence! Keep your head up!! Super cool to hear Alpina gets involved. Well deserved.
Back to the mothership for the proyect is the way to end this series. Great amounts of Euros and patient has been put to it, so a rewarding outcome was in order. Greetings from Argentina.
Gotta say....out of all your projects, this has to be my favorite. Your patience and outlook of this project speaks volumes. Really!! I really want to see this project to the end. 😃
I am more involved in this series and Streten’s channel as a whole than anything else I my life…screw the mid term elections compared to the drama with this B7! Thank you so much for doing what you do and keeping me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode.
Im thinking the chassis got scuffed/damaged during or prior to assembly at the Alpina factory, and Alpina (or a third party) painted it fully in a generic black color. Might seem unlikely because of the thin paint, but I have a hard time believing it went through BMW quality control like that. Especially being a 7 series.
I forgot to mention it, but North American Alpina B7 was assembled at BMW. Euro spec B7's were assembled at Alpina.
@@M539Restorations Makes sense now as you mentioned the vin-number not being Alpina specific for the US cars. Could be interesting to see if other schwarz II e65 Alpinas (or normal e65's) from the US have the same metallic finish on the body
Man this has become my favourite car channel, mainly because of your persistence and humour 😊
The only problem watching this channel is I can only subscribe once. Nothing better than 30 or 40 minutes of watching Sreton working on BMWs
I absolutely would have driven this car off a pier into the sea by now. You have the patience of a saint.
The more stuff on that thing goes south the more I am happy that I talked a buddy of mine out of buying one at a cheap price. It would have been his only car / daily driver, and he did not have a shop or the tools to fix it like you do.
Amazing that you still keep up with all the shit this car gives you.
I absolutely love how thorough you are. Also your personality sells this channel as much as your workmanship. Good job!
With your skill, determination and attention to detail I don't see why you don't learn to paint. Someone who can assemble an Alpina engine single handedly can DEFINITELY learn to paint with a DIY setup and DIY booth. Knowing the way you do things, your prep would be perfect, you would use the highest quality thinners, gun, filters and primer etc which all play a huge role in the final finish. You would be able to sort out so many issues on your cars and save yourself tons of money in the long run. Go for it! 😁
mützi is the new star of the show
She needs a BMW sticker on her collar ^^
Man that new wood trim looks really good 👍
Hey Sreten, on the subject of the paint I have heard that they paint a batch of few cars with one color, then they switch to another color and so on. Have heard that the first car from a given batch may have a tint from the prev batch color, then the tint dies off with each subsequent car. Unsure if this may explain it. Good luck and thanks again for your perseverence, you are an expemple to us all! All the best!!
This guy is a saint. By part 6, this Alpina would be off to the junk yard
This had to have been two cars... I can't believe the factory would do that with the paint...
My guess is, someone with an Alpina had a total loss, and transplanted everything (VIN too) onto a donor car (which was a different color).
M539 Restorations ... I've just watched the end of the video about Alpina supporting you financially with the rebuild costs and a visit to their facilities to meet top brass, and I'm so ecstatic that your courage and bloody-mindedness has finally bore such impressive fruit. I've been following you for over two years, and I'm really proud of you, Sreten ... 🤗 ...
Finally! An olive branch has been offered! This is going to be bueno!
Pretty amazing that they contacted you with this, that first reachout did not no so well 😁 By this project I have started to grow up a bit of love to this E65 model.
Project Chicago is by far my favorite project of yours. So much to learn and so entertaining, with ups and downs in the rebuilt. Big fan of what your doing. Greetings from Hamburg
Hahaha, nehrajou vubec basy 😀. As I’m Czech, this made me really laugh. Otherwise - shocking quality on German paintshops 🙈.
Video, as always, is excellent!
Great Job, you have give the solution for a sistematic problem to Alpina. You deserve a prize for this job. You have made a properly Alpina engine.
Any time you feel frustrated, just spend some time looking at those wheels. They are absolutely magnificent!
Man i laughed so hard when the rabbit ran by and ur dogo just sat there😂😂
i work at a bodyshop and we occasionally get cars or little stuff brought back and we just redo them as we have been having loads of trouble with our paintbooths filtering systems and the air systems and what not, its a on going case and the professionals have been working on it and its been getting alot better and the imperfections have gone down massively but its still occasionally happening
The amount of work you put in is astonishing. I always watch your videos together with my friends although we have nothing to do with cars, it's simply THAT amazing! Thank you and keep it up!
Massive respect for the calmness you showed!!! You deserve the experience of going to Alpina.
Love the Alpina episodes, excited for its return😎 and that’s so cool Alpina called and cares about the models they put out, that’s awesome
Great to see that you get some support from Alpina !
Glad to hear you got support from Alpina. That must feel very good. I think you really need and deserve some positive vibes and relief going forward and completing this project. Thank you for entertaining and educate us with this channel!
You are a mad man. And I love it. You are crazy good in what you do. And to hear that Alpina is reaching out is a unbelievable compliment of your work on the cars and video. Keep up the incredible work. And I wish you all the best.
This has just been epic! Can't wait for the finale at Alpina. Keep up the fantastic work!
Great episode as always! It was nice to hear that Alpina reached out to you, goes to show the great job you’ve done with the channel and your growing influence. Really hoping Alpina lets you record in their facilities. Aloha!
Tsunami of feelings with this episode.
Not surprised about the paint job, rather sad.
Shocked with the scary noise on the autobahn run, bit scared if the car will be lit up right there. :'D
Thankful that you survived without any serious issue.
Super happy and amazed that Andreas from Alpina reached out to you.
Excited to see some wrenching on the X5.
Still my fav. channel.
Amazing love these updates on the Alpina! Sickening to have that damn undertray come loose and cause damage! Keep going young sir!

So cool Alpina reached out. A testament to your fantastic channel. Looking forward to the episode where Alpina goes back to Alpina!
Awesome video. Loved every minute, and so cool that Andreas of Alpina reached out to you and is offering help. I look forward to the next episode.
I love your show. The patience in rebuilding this car and solve all the issues that come evetime you fix something. Keep the good work 😀
