I saw a burgundy 85 524 td at my local gas station in 1989 filling up with diesel, the gentleman bought it new, I fell in love with that car, 2021 I saw it for sale in a yard, I bought it, he has passed away from cancer in 2019 and his widow hoped it would go to someone who loves it as much as he did. I've loved the e28 since it made it's debut many many years ago. The M5 was my dream car after the 3.0 CSI. I love what you've done to your and now getting the whole team into the BMW family is super cool to watch. Yes, more like this please!!! I absolutely love the e28. I had an 88 535is as my first track car. I stuck an M5 motor in it. I also had a couple of real e28 M5s. They were a pleasure to work on and a pleasure to drive. I never had one leave me stuck on me stuck on the road.

I cannot agree more! I remember when e28’s were contemporary, I thought they were some of the best looking cars then and they remain so today. Timeless classics. and those Alpina wheels….perfection!
Really like this casual approach to this video. Its not always real life to be building 1000+ cars and engine swapping. Its nice to just sit back and chill to see what's going on on a normal day. Keep up the great work.

Bought an e28 last year as my first enthusiast car and its been a blast. Can't recommend them highly enough for anyone looking for a perfect blend of classy, cool, fun and nostalgic. Love what you did with yours, enjoy!!
Love this style of content mixed in with the usual fab stuff. Hits a bit closer to home for those of us who might not be at the fabrication step of builds yet. Also congrats on that steal of a deal Anthony! Excited to see what you decide to do with it and make it truly yours.
I love it when guy have a decent dream car. The E28 is Dreamcar material. For me, it's the Lexus SC400. But here in Germany they are rare! Less then 20 in my country. After years of looking for one, I finally made my dream come true.
I had a E28 and loved that car so much. The looks, the vibe... everything. It was a lowly 520i with 4-speed gearbox but I didn't care. I also had a E34 and E39. After that BMW lost its luster to me. The new BMW's I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.
No. Peak BMW is now. M5 CS is probably the best car on the planet and I am 46, had 18 BMWs, first one being e30. New BMW car are better in every way, shape and form. Sorry.
Maaan this why we are Stance Works fans all over the globe. It's cars like these that your core fans appreciate the most. Shout out from South Africa🇿🇦
This is so crazy, I owned a 83 520i while I was stationed in Germany. It was my first car in 96 and it was the car that got me into loving to drive. I drove her all over Germany until the clutch fan went and blew into the radiator. I wish I had her repaired and kept her. Yours looks amazing and now I'm looking for one.
Glad too see another person joining the e28 club. Im 20 and my first car was a 535is that i manual swapped. Super clean car inside and out but needed a little tlc like this one. Another m30 that has made it to 300k miles. Now i have an 85 e28 m90 powered racecar and a 79 euro 635csi (m90 with the dogleg 5spd.) Yes i am addicted and no i don’t care lol
I remember seeing one of Mike’s E28s at a period correct meet years ago. I’m glad to see that Mike is now sharing the passion with the world via long format video. Bravo Mike. One of your big fans. 😎
This thing is not only very well built but everything’s been done so extremely clean. Love from the Netherlands my man! Stoked to see what you’ll come up with!
Back in the mid 70's I was a 510 nerd. I've spent a few hours installing the "Datsun Comp" suspension on my friends 510s. This episode brought back some good memories of fun times and good friends. Very nice work, Mike.Thanks.
I really enjoyed this video, it took me back to working on cars with my mates when I was younger. Too many car channels on RUclips have to go bigger and better with every build and they loose the relatability as a result.
One of my favourite episodes yet. Love the major build videos but this one reminds me of when me and my pals get together to ‘tinker’ on each other’s projects. Also given me inspiration to get back working on my M535i project, been sat in the garage since a full respray. Too many distractions.
I bought one used from a BMW dealership of all places..very cheap because of its miles and age and disclosed issues. gave it to my dad as a commuter car, he is a pilot for UPS and commutes three-hour round trips two times per week and he loves that 528. its quite and sporty.
I nearly bought an e28 535is auto in 2014. It got bought out from underneath me. Since then I've had cool BMWs, e30 325i cabriolet and e92 M3 in the stable right now, but I still keep an eye out. I first got into BMW as a kid when a guy showed up to race sailboats in his e28 M5. Since then that car has been fully and meticulously restored and I lust for one even more now. Maybe one day. Congrats Anthony. have fun with it.
Nice to have an upload on my birthday, thank you. I have an E36 I'm fixing up to flip, but every time I see one of Mike's videos, the urge to keep it is insane.
Mike... out of all the cars you have right now... this is by far the best looking one. Simply perfection. Where has BMW gone.... such a shame they went away from their heritage. LOVE the Alpina wheels SOOO much.
When you said "this is my dream car" though...man, I remember my uncle had one of these in metallic green. Loved that car as a kid. Good to see there's some clean ones left.
I appreciate these videos and cars because it shows how much you care about doing it "right" and not just doing it to be crazy. Chromatic and Aiden are the same vibes. Bringing it to my own car because of you guys.
Definitely More of this Mike! This is that pure automotive enthusiast moments that create memories and it also makes us feel a part of your journey. This truly reminds me of back in the day with rusty and just enjoying cruising and fitting coils and lowering it. But instead of reading on the forums, we get to see a video journey which makes your feel like you’re there. Lotsa OG love from South Africa, keep up the great content. We are always supporting you since day 1. 😎🎉💪🏽👊🏽
My sister use to have an E28, bought it for $1400 and was in nearly perfect condition, (this was back in 1999 mind you). Absolutely fun to drive and just the right size.
Glad to be an observer (even just) of the StanceWorks initiation ceremony :) Welcome to the family Anthony!!! As for the new rims on the E30 - ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!
Can't argue with your taste, the sharknose era are THE real BMW's for me. Had a e28 528I then moved onto a e24 M635csi, 25 years ago (euro's since I live in europe) Loved them both and still miss them.

That looks awesome. Just as I became driving age, a guy by my grandfather bought a brand new '85 E28 M5 and I was sprung. Such amazing cars, great call
As a 2x E28 owner ( '84 533i and '88 535is! I bought my 535is @ 92k miles and it served me well to 150k+ miles. I tricked the 535is out with 16" Fitipaldi wheels,...and OEM M5 Swaybars! Dude,...can you say hello to an Amtrac ride???? Mine was "Salmon Silver" and an awesome ride. I can honestly say I luv'd that car. Keep 'em on the road guys,...they are freak'n awesome to look at!
Just when I thought this channel has the best content, here's a new video with different style and content that I enjoy even more. It really feels like being there. Thank you Mike.
This episode resonates so much with me and my passion. I just lowered my E28 this week too, and the transformation is exactly what it needed. There's just something about them that is hard to explain to other people, but yep, I bloody love mine (apart from the automatic transmission), which is not an easy conversion find here in Australia.
@stanceworks couldn't agree more that these cars are truly special. I bought a non-running '84 528e 5spd in 2013 for $400, replaced a bad clutch master cyl, and drove it the same week. The upper part of the HVAC box was super melted from a previous blower motor fiasco so I parked it for a bit (2 years) while trying to save up for that/other parts and nearly sold it. FINALLY found the right parts, thrashed it back together, lowered it on Koni Yellows + BavAuto springs, and drove it daily to my first "real" job. I was lucky enough to buy a house in 2017 and I used it as my UHaul with a roof rack + basket. Its still waiting behind my dad's shop for some new front floor pans and a return to the road. Thank you for sparking me to get back to work on it!
this is probably the most fun format of video you do. I love the technical build breakdowns, the step by steps, but these more candid looks are so cool.
I'm an Audi man so i never understood BMW fanaticism until recently. I bought an E39 from this kid that was desperate to get rid of it. He only wanted $850. I went and test drove it and made sure the engine and tranny worked good. Also that the body work and interior were in pretty good shape. They were in very good shape. He gave me a list of things that needed replacing that would have made the average joe run away screaming. I'm a DIYer so I wasn't that afraid. I watched a dozen youtube videos on how to fix all of it and was convinced i could handle it. 6 months of work and i was ready for a test drive. BEFORE: It overheated, sputtered, smoked like it was on fire, suspension pieces all needed to be replaced. the brakes needed replacing, it leaked oil from everywhere, all the coolant hoses were leaking, the water pump and thermostat were shot, the valve cover and seals needed to be replaced. the valve cover seals were brittle as glass. AFTER: ALL THE FOLLOWING PARTS WERE ADDRESSED Tune up Accessory, drive belts upper/lower belt tensioners idle/AC Aluminum Valve cover replacement Aluminum Thermostat Valve cover seals Water pump Radiator temperature sensor Upper and lower radiator hoses Coolant reservoir Battery LED Light bulbs Racing brake pads Racing rotors, cross drilled and slotted Upper and lower controls arms front/rear Tie rods Sway bars front/rear Radio I bought all these parts online for about $2500 I expect me and my E39 to have many years trouble free driving...If not I'll sell it and buy an E60😉🤔
I have kicked myself every since 2015 when I didn't buy the 535is that I checked out. I have not found one even as remotely nice for the price, I have looked at about 5 since then, it just never seems like the right time/price. Some day. An e28 is an absolute gorgeous car. It is the right size to use as a high-schooler all the way through a retiree. Such a cool car. Congratulations all

I turned 16 in 1987, and my dad had an ‘86 535i white over black. The first car I went over 100 mph in at 15. I’ve dreamed of buying it from my aunt, but she just gave it to my cousin. Dang it!
This was refreshing to watch. The big builds are intense and very informative. But the roots vlogs are pure entertainment, you can feel your enthusiastic energy come thru the camera
I've been religiously watching your videos ever since finding your channel a couple months into the Ferrari build. That said, I absolutely loved this video. The laid back style was just perfect. I would definitely say more videos like this would be well received.
This has got to be one of my favorite videos. The vibes are great and it had a little bit of everything. It’s awesome that Anthony is joining the crew and at such a good price! I hope to do the same with an e28 as they are definitely one of my top 5 attainable dream cars.
The vibe of this video reminded me of the good ol days, exactly as was said; driving out with buds to go look at cars, late nights spending hours dailing in coilovers.. Man I need dust off the E36 again.

Great content and it’s refreshing to know there’s a plethora of car geeks not so different than myself or each other. I saw the Ur-Quattro around 6:40 and my heart raced. I love cars and appreciate what you put into the channel out of your own “Why”

I feel you about how these cars mean so much, but objectively... They shouldn't. But when mine broke down last, I had to let it sit for a couple years. Not long ago I got it running again and just sat in the drivers seat and cried. Still have the whole rear end off while I refresh all that, but I can't describe how badly I want to just get in and disappear into the countryside for a few days. They're such special cars.
I've always had a soft spot for the E28. The first BMW I ever drove was a E28 with the Eta engine and the first M motor I ever really looked at was that in an E28 M5. While I ended up buying a bunch of E30's over the years the E28 is one I still notice and appreciate even if I've never called one my own.
I am emotional seeing this video because I feel like I am understood. I currently ride a lowered 535i e28 euro spec blue and I also have an E28 M5 euro lachssilber in absolutely prefect condition. I love my cars.. Thx a lot for your video
Absolutely love this type of content, it's a great balance to the more technical. Looking forward to see the transformation of this new one too, show it some love.

After years of looking for one, I finally made my dream come true.
e28 prices just skyrocketed
I had a E28 and loved that car so much. The looks, the vibe... everything. It was a lowly 520i with 4-speed gearbox but I didn't care. I also had a E34 and E39.
After that BMW lost its luster to me. The new BMW's I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.
No. Peak BMW is now. M5 CS is probably the best car on the planet and I am 46, had 18 BMWs, first one being e30. New BMW car are better in every way, shape and form. Sorry.
Are you sure?

@@stanceworks must not have watched your BMW rant. 😂
Peak bmw? No manual option on the M5.
The M2/3/4? They are just too heavy, go drive an E36.
It's not about speed, it's about feeling.
Maaan this why we are Stance Works fans all over the globe. It's cars like these that your core fans appreciate the most. Shout out from South Africa🇿🇦
my friend had one of these in high school; it was a shitbox but we loved it so much. It had the factory lsd and drove like a dream.
Watching someone follow their passion and share it with us is the RUclips I miss. That’s what I love about stanceworks!
As an M5 owner, seeing this level of appreciation makes me happy. Gives me even more motivation to finish my project
Not a fan of 'low rider' tires, bulging out of the car. Look gross. But each to his own. Glad you're saving and appreciating these wonderful machines.
I've got to agree with you there. Although I guess if the next owner can return it to normal there's no harm in it 😅
I bought one used from a BMW dealership of all places..very cheap because of its miles and age and disclosed issues. gave it to my dad as a commuter car, he is a pilot for UPS and commutes three-hour round trips two times per week and he loves that 528. its quite and sporty.
Are you handicapped?
Nice to have an upload on my birthday, thank you. I have an E36 I'm fixing up to flip, but every time I see one of Mike's videos, the urge to keep it is insane.
Mike... out of all the cars you have right now... this is by far the best looking one. Simply perfection. Where has BMW gone.... such a shame they went away from their heritage. LOVE the Alpina wheels SOOO much.
When you said "this is my dream car" though...man, I remember my uncle had one of these in metallic green. Loved that car as a kid. Good to see there's some clean ones left.
I’m a JDM guy but these are great! Respects from the northern slums of Los Angeles. Keep up the great work and keeping these older cars running.
I appreciate these videos and cars because it shows how much you care about doing it "right" and not just doing it to be crazy. Chromatic and Aiden are the same vibes. Bringing it to my own car because of you guys.
I'll have to look up Chromatic. Aiden is my boy! (Peep the LowTemp radio air freshener in the E28!)
UK E28 M5 owner here 😊. Really enjoyed the video and your presentation style. Good luck with the cars!
My sister use to have an E28, bought it for $1400 and was in nearly perfect condition, (this was back in 1999 mind you). Absolutely fun to drive and just the right size.
Glad to be an observer (even just) of the StanceWorks initiation ceremony :)
Welcome to the family Anthony!!!
There is literally nothing more satisfying than perfecting stance on fresh wheels, some of my best car memories come from that simple act... moremoremoremoremoremoremoremore please??
This is The Good Stuff. Friends working on cars and sharing excitement about cars. Car projects, like music and motorsports, bring people together. More of this!
That looks awesome. Just as I became driving age, a guy by my grandfather bought a brand new '85 E28 M5 and I was sprung. Such amazing cars, great call
E28's are so good. Me and my dad like them so much we chopped up a crashed one and grafted the drivetrain and suspension into a 1962 rambler wagon!
AFTER: ALL THE FOLLOWING PARTS WERE ADDRESSED
Tune up
Accessory, drive belts upper/lower
belt tensioners idle/AC
Aluminum Valve cover replacement
Aluminum Thermostat
Valve cover seals
Water pump
Radiator temperature sensor
Upper and lower radiator hoses
Coolant reservoir
Battery
LED Light bulbs
Racing brake pads
Racing rotors, cross drilled and slotted
Upper and lower controls arms front/rear
Tie rods
Sway bars front/rear
Radio
I bought all these parts online for about $2500
I expect me and my E39 to have many years trouble free driving...If not I'll sell it and buy an E60😉🤔
I had a 528 5-speed. Great car. Not in the same league as the 535 but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I had an E28 528i back in the 80s-90s. Fantastic car that was so much more solid than than 5 series versions that followed.
Congrats to Anthony on the new ride! Love these type of vids even though it’s no crazy build or swap.
About 17 years ago I owned an E28 M5, black on black, for a couple of years. I didn’t know what I had and desperately miss that car!
Congratulations all
Just letting you know (as you asked) - Feel free to do more content like this. Not saying that your build videos aren't as good, it's just nice to have variations like this 🙂
Great video. I'm still with my E30 316i , here in South Africa. The ride in these sedans are unique and pleasurable. I love all 3 E28's.
I was a BMW mechanic in the 80's, had a 533i with a 2.93 rear differential from a 528e. It would do 150mph on a good day.
Love the video, your so lucky to find rust free cars on west coast. I'm in UK so hope you feel our pain over here👍
The vibe of this video reminded me of the good ol days, exactly as was said; driving out with buds to go look at cars, late nights spending hours dailing in coilovers..
Man I need dust off the E36 again.
Loved it! We all need some nostalgia on the teens years because, the only bills you had to worry about were the things that you put on your car.
This is the best channel on RUclips! I love the content, videos and level of details you share, explaining tools and the process.I have learned a lot.
If it means anything, someone nearly across the world, is watching your videos to go through the very difficult times of his life, Thank you.
Congratulations! The E28 is the best BMW ever made imo. Bought mine in 2018 and I’m still in love.
Great content and it’s refreshing to know there’s a plethora of car geeks not so different than myself or each other. I saw the Ur-Quattro around 6:40 and my heart raced. I love cars and appreciate what you put into the channel out of your own “Why”
No one understands the perfectness of the e28 its the best 4 door car ever made you have to drive it for it to make sense I’ve had mine for 4 years 86 535i 5 speeds and i would take it over any other 4 door car ive ever driven its outstanding
Absolutely love the fact you decided to share this with us. Always appreciate classic BMW content, especially E28 content. 15’s look so much better on the E30 as well. Hate the stretched tire look. Now you have proper sidewall with correct sized wheel.
I had an E-30 318 when i was 19-22 and to this day i believe it was the best car i will ever own.
Wow, What a Beauty, I got two, Grampa and Grampa Junior, 1983 533i Manual with all extra included heated seats and 1984 533i Manual, the 1983 is all original with red leather seats, Selling the 1984 cheap because needs work
Don’t tempt me with a good time. What are the specs on the ‘84
@@stanceworks
1984, is simple, 533i Manual, Needs battery box rust and rocker covers fixed, had sun roof, Needs work, but drives... I'm in Toronto Canada 🇨🇦, Selling it less then $3.000CAD
Also a BMW fan since the 80s. My dream car is a 2002 - someday. Love living vicariously through your videos.
This is where it’s at. The Ferrari is fun, but to me.. this content is the best. Absolutely beautiful.
Been daily driving a e28 for 2 years, have a bit of a starting issue but I love driving this thing everywhere!
I don’t think an E28 535 is the pinnacle of BMW, but the car looks absolutely sick. Love it.
I am emotional seeing this video because I feel like I am understood.
I currently ride a lowered 535i e28 euro spec blue and I also have an E28 M5 euro lachssilber in absolutely prefect condition. I love my cars.. Thx a lot for your video
One of my favorite videos on the channel, hands down. Great job, guys, keep it up!
Absolutely love this type of content, it's a great balance to the more technical. Looking forward to see the transformation of this new one too, show it some love.
This was amazing. One of the best videos I’ve watched on this platform. E28s are on my radar because of stanceworks. One day I’ll build me a e28 touring.
One of my favorite videos to date, so casual and genuine, it's great
