@@OlavAlexanderMjelde You can buy keyfobs for the Model 3.
You can buy key fobs until tesla decides to blacklist the vehicle on the speculation that your going to damage their charging equipment due to the damaged vehicle :(

19K for car
including parts, it was $25,100 for a 2018 tesla long range AWD model 3
hopefully I saved people time.
Thank you for saving my time. If I had some land, for that money I could actually build a house and it would be ~80% complete... Add another 10k and and it would be good enough to live through the winter, I am not sure what is dirt cheap these days :))
@@S3l3ct1ve In my area, you can sometimes get free houses on Craigslist. They're "doublewide" and sometimes "triplewide" trailers. I remember one in pretty good condition. it was built in 1986 or something. about 160 square meters.
Our government, however, makes it too expensive to install for most people. The cost of the water meter, which they will not allow you to install yourself, costs over $30,000 to have the water company install. The government doesn't allow you to forgo a water meter, among the various other requirements.
Can that be financed though? 25k isant bad
the video was actually interesting! no need to skip stuff. The part when they talked about price diferences between tesla and ebay was really good
what about price for the work if you cant do it yourself?
Glad to see you back to the roots. The stuff that drew me to your channel from the beginning.
It's a huge shame that Rich didn't rebuild the Tesla himself whilst showing us the viewers how exactly it was repaired. After all, the channel is called 'Rich Rebuilds'...
@@PeteSimpson NO not Rick!!
Pete Simpson Rich can’t rebuild them all. Sharing is caring.
Rich, you're such a gem passing on the 3 @ cost. Lovely outcome, thanks for sharing : )
This is awesome. The excitement from this guy is contagious.
What a character. So genuinely stoked and that accent. Solid video, some of your best content!
IZAAK Kanzig I don’t even hear an accent 🤣
Glad to hear it worked out for him. Glad to hear Tesla is working out the parts for salvage repair issues and keeping more of these cool cars on the road and affordable for those with initiative to own one with a little elbow grease. Very cool video.
Glad to see that Robert de Niro's cousin's model 3 runs and supercharges
Buying the car that some body shop decided that it's not worth fixing is always a good idea. Especially if they didn't forget to make it look better before taking the pictures, so it reaches higher price. If it happened to also not drive then it's like hitting a jackpot.
My only problem is getting the model 3 down into my basement.
Just remove a wall of the room above and the basements ceiling
@@BanditLeader Like the guy who rebuilt a Lambo in the basement and then deconstructed his house to get it out.
1st World problem, yo! I have to get mine upstairs!!
just tell it you have a supercharger installed in your basement that it can use for free, once it's in there, just lock the door and wait until it tires itself out before you go in to work on it.
Just demo any obstructing walls, floors and furniture in the way. The savings on the car will pay for itself.
As a native Minnesotan I smile everytime I go to riches main page and see Rich Rebuilds done in the Prince Purple Rain font, rest in peace Prince

You are such a great story teller 👊
You are lucky in america, here in Europe you get scammed all the time you try to buy an tesla. A damaged one like your black one cost about 33.000 Euro, that should be about 37k in USD With repairs you would be like 40k (45k USD) Damn shame we cant get cheap evs here. Keep up the good work rich, greetings from germany.
Please do a video about what to do after an accident and your Tesla is totaled. What steps should you take if you are not going to keep it to better help the next owner.

seriously this might be the best Tesla video on youtube
That is awesome! Who says you can't repair your own Tesla? This guy Mark is totally legit.

Rich, not trying to be a fan boy. With that being said dude your videos are so informative. I luv the sarcasm and funnies of the videos. Also you're swaying me away from getting the model X. Leaning toward the model S.
Damn Rich!! Help me find a good wrecked Tesla I can rebuild with plastic forks and knifes!🤣🤣👍🏼
I'm surprised this guy actually got contact with Tesla and rich doesn't lol.
They are blackist it's quite obvious now
like @Nobody likes he said they probably saw his RUclips videos.

Tesla was at the opening of the Electrified Garage.
What are you talking about? Rich posted SEVERAL videos where he's on the phone with Elon Musk.
You’re friend is fortunate to have found a good deal and have you as a friend, in life you win and lose some, that’s life, a gamble. I’ve ordered my performance model 3, it’s coming next month, in my country you get an interest free loan for 6 years and free unlimited charging (government pays for it), Europe is so lucky to have regulation.
You have to include need of a working garage place but still that's given. Awesome story
Blows my mind how cool the wheels under the wheel covers are they totally could have just done a steel wheel
KDcars. I'm guessing many people remove the aero trims around town. The range is not affected so much at low speeds. Only put them back on for longer trips.
Curmudgeon good point!
LOL a $60K car that has hub caps. LOLOLOLOL why did they not make the wheel already aerodynamic?
@@common_c3nts . Maybe so you have the choice. Aerodynamic, range-saving wheels often don't look that 'cool'. By having easily removable trims, you can decide if you want style or economy.

Love this video Rich. I know you can’t always find awesome buyers like this guy. But this would be a cool series.
Maaaan even tho your videos are long but i find myself watching till the end
Came across your mini documentary about Tesla, you absolutely rock bro 🙌🏿
Rich! You are the man! Changed his life.
The fun game with the Model 3 is finding one that has the B-pillar trim still attached to the B-pillar. They use an amazingly complex set of plastic mouldings but unlike Toyota's simple system - fails to stay put.
The fact he took the time to color code them on your own design sketch pad thing is pretty neat he could have just wrote in stock or 5 to 10 business days in Black
happy to see it got a caring new owner
What i learnt from this video is that I need to become one of Rich's friends!! Also, I see a load of Teslas on iaa that have been messed with to make then look better than they are.
Great Video But watch out for ....
1. if you are buying dual motor, might as well get a car which has side damage. If single motor get front damage cars
2. Stay away if the car doesnt run becasue the motor or the battery could be bricked.
3. After the rebuild you have to go tesla to use supercharger and they charge about $1,000 USD.
4. Stay away from suspension damages or when the tires are pushed becasue that could damage the battery.
good luck!!!!
So happy you put the cost at end. That’s amazing!!
Hi Rich , I’m a fan of yours . I really appreciate all that you do . Especially inform me concerned about Tesla products. You helped in other areas as well . Thanks
Looking forward for more videos from you .
Rich don’t forget to make family time with your family .
1 hour from now I will drive my S into a wall and send the wreck to Rich, new fan here :)
I had once a project car. Audi a4 allroad. It had that adabtive cruise contorl radar bustet totaly. I went to audi dealership and asked the price of that new radar, and guess what? 3 000€... Went to a scetchy Poland website and ordered the radar with a 250€ price tag. It was a gamble, but the radar was real and fitted the car! Only thing was that it went to component protection error code, witch is made for that you cant swap stolen parts...
I bought the standard rear wheel drive model 3 from Tesla directly tbh I don’t regret it I have warranty, clean title and didn’t have to deal with sourcing parts and spend time putting it together. sometimes it’s easier just to go through the dealers.
true. but I have an extra $25K in my bank account and I really enjoy working on cars. I used to do it when I was like 13 working at my brothers body shop and learned the skill set. All my vehicles I have are salvage. I have a bmw i8 and an i3, 2 jeep wranglers, and a porshe. would not be able to have all these vehicles if they were clean title with no work involved,
So cool that you got Billy Baldwin on the channel. Was wondering what he was up to.
Cool down to earth guy. Great ending.
I really enjoy your show & l am referring everyone to watch your video

I live in Eastern CT and would love a model 3. Maybe in the future I will be able to afford one.
Uncle rich prob the best car RUclipsr around right now
dirt isn't as cheap as it used to be
If you can’t afford 26k on a car that costs 55k but still retains all of its superior traits over regular cars, you must be in a decent amount debt and/or don’t have a decent job. I’m 3 years out of high school and didn’t go to college and became an electrician, even I could afford this car and could flip it but would definitely keep.
Amen to that
@@jorahgarrison2594 You did it right though. People going into college now to apply for desk jobs that don't pay enough to repay the college loans. Being an electrician is awesome, good choice!
Wicked video! Really enticing to fix up a wrecked Tesla...
I'm handy... but not this handy. I need one that is wrecked but just needs a new 1-2 parts swapped out. I'd pay $25k for this but I'd never would have been able to finish it myself. Good rebuild though. Super interesting.
Who has real Gatorade cups? Crazy!!! LOVE IT
I really love what you do man, you’ve made me totally want to go electric ⚡️
Body repairs are not to make it like it rolled off the assembly line. It is to return it to pre accident condition.
True, but for the battery pack that means factory condition, since it just gets replaced.
Now, that's very, very interesting ! First, the eBay rip-offs, second, the supercharging availability. I'm not interested in the Model S, way too big and expensive, but in a totalled Model 3, I'm in !
Thanks Uncle Rich ! 👍
S is honestly much better. Battery has more modular construction, very easy to change modules without replacing the whole battery. Just find a flooded one like rich, replace some battery parts and interior, still much easier and safer than repairing heavily crashed model 3 with damaged battery.
I don’t get how these guys have the knowledge to fix these cars. I can’t imagine trying to do this myself.
In 2018 there was a 2 part performance package first part was dual motor plus performance, 2nd was 20" wheels and tires, performance brake, lowered springs, fiber rear spoiler and aluminum pedals, I believe the tire wheel package predates the staggered 20".
The whole parts thing on eBay is the same in the UK, always worth checking at the dealers before!
Hey Rich I see your buddy Mark has a Northern Ireland Football Team jacket. Tell him greetings from Northern Ireland and hope he enjoys his bargain Tesla.
Hey Peter Greeting's to you as well. Love Northern Island. We go every year to port Stewart, Port rush, Coleraine and stay at University of Ulster. My boys play in the Milk cup (now the super cup) and also the foyle cup. We love it there, and the green and white army as well. Sweet Caroline!
Awesome, small world. I live in Bangor. Hope to pick up a a Tesla or similar EV someday.
That was a good one! - even without the flute.
True, I miss that awesome flute too. : ))
This is awesome, congrats to your friend! I luv this kind of stuff!
A few things you might want to consider before you just think of $$$$ signs and getting a cheap Model 3 - or any damaged car.
1: Buying a car that an insurance company has decided is too expensive to fix is a precarious proposition for even a competent mechanic.
2: Replacing a $1:80 bumper clip is simple. Finding out that you have to replace wiring looms, AC lines and components, even one of those overly-complicated door handles...that is for a professional mechanic.
3: Tools tools tools. I cannot stress enough that if you are going to work on your own "cheap" Tesla, you are going to need many specialist tools. More $$$$$
4: We have not even spoken about the riskiest part yet - the body of the car. Doors that don't align anymore, creases in the roof, front panel gaps that are different all point to a vehicle that requires valuable time on a rack. A tin of Bondo is not going to fix any of these problems.
This legitimate gentleman claimed that he bought a $55K car for $25K - which sounds impressive. The truth, however, is slightly different. It was $55K once. A quick search and you can find an identical spec car undamaged for $46K. He also has a car with substantial accident history, a badly-repaired rear fender, so how many people who look at it if he tried to sell it for more than he spent? Which you know he would. I am not saying that you can't get a cheaper Tesla with cosmetic damage. As I said at the start though, unless you are a professional, cosmetic damage is all that you should buy. Otherwise, you may end up spending $5K less on a car that you could have purchased undamaged.

That is very important information should have come from Rich rebuilds in the first place ,this while advertising for credit companies and used car web sites in my opinion does not shed a very good light on this website.I would not be surprised if his full time job is in sales. If it would only be about the technical side of repairing E- cars the representation should be more down to the point and less confusing.
@@planpitz4190 Thank you for your comment. The points that I brought up are the last thing "Rich Rebuilds" wants you to think about. These channels use the magic of editing, just like television vehicle restoration shows to make sure that everything ends up good.
They don't want you to even think about the fact that the damaged car you buy quite often costs way more to fix than you estimated. I agree that he encourages people to buy cars they cannot afford with credit from his sponsors. Oh, something that I forgot to mention in my original post. NEVER EVER buy a flood-damaged Tesla - even if it just up to the carpet. They are cactus even after a shallow swim.
@@timsmith854
1) I was able to view the car and inspect it before I bought it. First thing I look at are the body lines all around the vehicle and this particular vehicle all the parts that were damaged were taken off so I could really view what was going on. I actual own 5 cars now that I repaired, the trick is finding the right car with the right damage, If you have ever done this you would know how they wright these estimates up. Most people don't want the car back especially when its a late model and 3800 miles. You have to know what to look for on the car and the insurance report, in this case the battery was a big component of the estimate ($15000) and it had a few scratches on it so they still have to wright in a battery.
2) Its funny you mention ac lines because I did have to replace them. Just bolted on, very easy and so were the door handles
3) as far as tools, What specialty tools do you need? nothing fancy at all. sockets , wrenches , torque wrench and screw drivers, again knowing what to look for in the damage
4) Before you say " the truth is how ever slightly different" you really shouldn't speak about something you had nothing to do with as far as the repair. watch the video my lines are perfect. no shims at all again you have to know what your buying. I understand your point but not applicable on this vehicle Just bolted them on. I also did a quick search before I bought this I looked at compairable model 3 same year, same options and your estimate of 46K is a little light same specs and milage but even so so saving 20k is not good?. Also your comment on hours of time on the frame machine, have you ever used one? Have you ever paid someone that has worked on a frame machine? I have done both. I actually know the costs of frame work. I did put it on the rack and there was no work needed but if there was on a typical hit like this you're talking about $600.00. Again you have to know what you're buying. As far as " badly repaired fender " One there isn't a tin of bondo, I worked that area for about 4 hour getting the dents out before applying minimal filler, its not finished yet I just put it in primer for the inspection and its not badly repaired i have another couple of hours to get ready for paint but you can pay someone to hang a new quarter for $900 part cost and another $1000 to paint. And as far as my situation I do 50000 miles a year I will drive this thing to the end, I have a passion for working on vehicles and have no interest or plans of selling this car or having people speak for me as far as what im going to do and how much im going to sell it for. I know you're trying to make a point but really you should get all the facts before you speak on something or for someone else in such generality without having the knowledge of the specific vehicle we are talking about. This was One of the easiest vehicles I have ever worked on.
5) What does being a fully-qualified Commercial Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and self-confessed car lover have to do with repairing cars or having the knowledge to do so. You made some serious accusations that were totally wrong and had no substance to the how it really went.
Uncle Rich!! It's a piece of what?!? Talking about the BMW I3...you said it was a piece of.... That's my car and I love it! Don't be coming for the I3.

Most people don't realize how cheap tesla parts are new, they're even cheaper than Toyota parts. I wrote an estimate for a t-boned model 3 today it since it didn't get the battery it took a ton of parts for it to total loss.

Really awesome, another point for EVs, more on Teslas, that have less than 17k parts, compared to 38k on most of combustion cars, and more points, it's easier to repair.
