- Being able to do yacht deliveries and work on yachts are two skillsets I want to acquire before embarking on my journey around the world. I have been informing myself in the steps to follow, and the easiest way seems to be with the RYA (Royal Yachting Association). I will start with the theory, and training some basic navigation and safety skills!

You missed the most important thing I’ve learned on both my Coastal Skipper as well as my Commercial Captains License. The first thing you should do, if you are not left all alone on the vessel, is to assign a person who’s only task is to always have continuous eye contact with the victim, and point his whole arm in that direction to guide you as a captain as well as inform you of the status of the victim. If he looses the eye contact for just one second the victim can go under the surface and never be found again.

Many years ago I did the shore based half of the Yachtmaster, but never got around to completing, which then was only a matter of submitting a log book. Oh how I wish I had. Now it is so complex and very expensive.
Man overboard, how you handle the boat depends very much on each boat.

Nu nog een filmpje om de mast te beklimmen. Volgende week mijn windex installeren. Die verdomde zee meeuw.
Hahaha dure grap! Ze verkopen ook van die prikkers om je windex te beschermen tegeb vogels, maar die krengen zijn bijna even duur als een nieuwe windex! 🤣 danmaar goed leren in de mast te klimmen inderdaad!
