I saw this super overgrown lawn, so I thought I would hop out of my truck to go knock on the door. Nobody answered but it was pretty obviously vacant because of the padlock on the door and when I looked through the window, it was completely empty. I even spoke with the neighbor and had to use google translate to communicate with him. He told me it’s been vacant ever since they’ve lived there and they can’t remember the last time it was cut. So I thought I would get it cleaned up for the neighborhood and looking better than it ever has.

@karltork6040 flippers usually buy these houses...they sell quickly here...doesn't matter which neighborhood! Housing is needed. ( I live in the same town as Spencer)
It breaks my heart to see so many abandoned homes when they could be fixed up and sold . Thank you for at least making it pleasing for the neighborhood
I've been watching Spencer's videos for a couple of years now, and I think he and Mrs. SB should set themselves up as renovators, join with a lawyer, and a bank or finance company, and look into purchasing these neglected houses through either the city (who I assume resume these houses for overdue taxes) or from the families of deceased persons, and fix them up. (Another RUclips channel to watch).
They could on sell them to young couples looking to buy their first home, and regenerate the neighbourhoods!
Some of the houses he cleans up could be repaired. From the looks of the rear and side of this house. It is a tear down. At that point it ain't worth it. Houses that have any potential value and the owner is willing to sell, will sell.
@@1944robbo That's actually a great idea. Plus, Spencer has no experience in that area so it would make for a great new YT channel as it would be a whole new learning curve on the legality, financing and physical rehab of fixing and flipping a house.
These videos of Spencer have become so boring that I'm about to unsubscribe. They're also cookie cutter and the same thing over and over. Almost seems like a waste of time.

My 4 year old autistic son loves your videos. I originally started putting them on at bedtime hoping that the white noise of the lawnmower and stuff would help him settle down for bed but now he wants to jump up every time your videos come on lol. He likes to say your phrase (SB mowing out) with you and he's constantly back and forth giving thumbs ups and saying "you did it" and then after its done when your showing the before and after pictures he gets so excited and says "wow its all clean". I never imagined something I was hoping would help him sleep would become his favorite thing to watch.

Sometimes, people would rather use a vacant property as their dump than pay for the disposal fees for tires, mattresses/box springs, appliances, and large electronics like TVs.
Around here, we call those people scum.
In most areas, there is a need for rental houses. With a good contract, the care of the house would be covered as well as real estate taxes.

With that wind and dust blowing around, my allergies kicked in just watching.
My husband is a retired, disabled firefighter and can't play all of the sports he used to. My brother got my husband and son a bunch of discs and backpacks for them both, and even water bottles for Christmas a few years ago. They have been playing 3 to 4 times a week, weather permitting, at over 50 different courses! We just moved to NC and so they have a bunch of new courses to check out. My husband loves to stay active, and this is something he can do with our son on their own! They have had many family and friends join them for a round or two... even my parents who are in their mid 70's! Fun for everyone!!!

One thing I love about your work is that you are so efficient, just going right in with the edger to create the line! It frustrates me just a little watching other lawn guys use the trimmer, blower, & mower multiple times just to clear a sidewalk or driveway. Your method is very satisfying for those of us who are also OCD about the details! 😂

Spencer, my pulmonologist told me that if I was gonna cut the grass, I had to wear a mask. It may not cause problems now, but later on in life, all the acid rain, chemicals in the air and everything in the grass will affect your lungs. You are a smart young man with a bright future. Don't let lung problems affect you later in life. Love the work you do and your channel. And I love your TShirt. I would wear it all the time when I would mow. Now, I have to hire a company to do my lawn due to asthma. I hope you get a good quality mask - like Tim the Lawnmower Man - and wear it! Your wife loves you and wants you around!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I just can’t wrap my head around all these people that leave their properties, seemingly without selling them?! I live in Germany and a lot like this close to a larger city could easily cost $400k. Not even including the cost of demolishing the old house and building a new one.

People die and leave no family, the city or county take responsibility for them. There are codes , if I let my yard go I would be fined . It is a good representation of rules for thee but not for me.
I wonder if the neighbors have even complained. If a big group of neighbors got together and complained, the city would probably mow it just to get them off their backs. Persistence.
Even when the city comes out and cuts it just the grass. They don’t trim they don’t clean the gutter or the sidewalk. They won’t cut down stray trees, growing in strange places. If it isn’t the lawn itself, it’s not touched.

Cities are not yard service providers for everyone. Do you want to pay more taxes??? I know people don’t like HOAs but one advantage is an HOA can make sure yards and homes are maintained! The owner of this property obviously has no consideration for the neighborhood. If you own a home and fail to either live in it or rent it, then sell it - there is a buyer for every home.

My brother complained to his city about a hoarder house for 4 years. Other neighbors did too. Finally they all marched to city hall
together and demanded a change. The hoarder house had been abandoned with all the junk and trash all that time.
Good job. It really helps with access to the sidewalk. Hopefully, neighbors will be inspired to take care of their yards.

I am 61 years old and I tell you disc golf is my favorite pastime besides fishing, I am learning how to play regular golf and I really like that too but these things are what keeps me active and younger. Amazing how there is something so pleasing and relaxing watching your lawn (and washing) videos. IMO, I think it is the fact that the video are sped up! Seeing you doing the actual work to real time would probably invoke sympathy - because it is hard work in hot weather, bugs, etc. But the videos emphasize the thinking and planning and execution of the work .. and the results! Thank you for these episodes!

You can be a guinea pig, a lady said rubbing on vinegar helps with poison ivy... This was a good improvement. I believe you cut down a bunch of Ailanthus/Tree of Heaven, they smell poorly when cut. They are a disaster tree, can grow in tough environments. When they get started, they spread by seeds and whole neighborhoods can become jungles. As you said, cleaned, this became a cute home and the neighborhood standard was pulled up.

I am also continuously impressed by that mower. It keeps taking down things I don't think any other mower could. Have you been enjoying it as much as we have?
I enjoy your videos and I have been watching for a couple of years now and my question is... Do you ever do any kind of follow up? I think it would be interesting to see how well some of these yards have been maintained after you've cleaned them up. A video with the 1st set of before and after shots and then current scenes after it has been a year or more following the mowing.

Edging sidewalk/curb just totally improves the look of any lawn, I’m about the only one in my small town in Iowa that has edges cut.
Disc golf is fun as hell. I lived three blocks from a course and we played everyday. Hopefully you get into it. It a fun walk for sure.

There were so many hazards in the yard (large rocks, wood boards, and just general junk) that I was afraid it was going to damage your mower as you would run over them. Your mower must be a real powerhouse. The neighbors must be thrilled not to have to look at that overgrown mess any longer. Now if the neighbors could just figure out a way to get the city to haul off the junk strewn across the backyard, they'd be really happy. Another wonderful job, Spencer...
That looks like a catalpa tree over the driveway. Haven't seen one in years. Caterpillars nested in them, and we used them for fishbait when I was a kid. We called them Catawba Worms! 7:43 😊
It is always nice to see you clean up these properties for the other neighbors in the area. It was nice to see you pick up the garbage today rather than mowing over it.

You really do unbelievable work! Growing up my Father always made us follow his routine.....mow, edge, trim, rake, sweep and blow. Oh yeah, we also mowed in opposite directions each time. People just don't keep yards up like we used to!!!
