@@davidflorcruz2908 I figured out about a year ago from watching here that the action, and the removal of the output shield, are to let him use the mower as kind of a brush-hog by using that sideways action.
Some stuff that grows in unkempt lawns, and usually grows faster than the grass itself, is rather 'woody' and the mower deck tend to bend it at the ground level and never let it up into the blades.
I've run into similar things with a manually-pushed power mower, but with that mower I can push down on the handle to slowly lower the spinning blade over such plants.

When I was raising my two young daughters as a solo mom, and no assistance from my X at all, I owned a 2 acre horse property. Doing the grass and yard work took an entire day. I only had one day off a week so to say I hated my beautiful yards with a passion. I eventually had to sell that home but still ended up in a one acre property that needed weekly care. I left for a weekend once for a family emergency and the following weekend I started at 6am and wrapped it up at 6pm. I wish I had a riding mower like that beast during those years! I had a push power mower but mowing, raking, bagging cuttings, edging, and weeding was a job for a crew! Dude, you have my admiration and gratitude for the job you do, on your own time, helping those that are frustrated, overwhelmed, and over worked!! Keep the faith and keep cleaning.

It's possible that she had a family emergency that she is now taking care of, think elderly parent she's caring for, or perhaps even she had something medically go wrong with herself, and she is getting care elsewhere. It's a shame that she didn't have true ties with her neighbors. That she felt she could ask to watch over her place in her absence. I hope she eventually returnsto her home.

Good work Spencer! I watch your videos because I actually have lived in Wichita all my life but now live in Goddard. I love watching you work so hard for these people. I do hope that some of the neighbors that see you at least say something nice and positive to you. I would! You and your wife must drive around every neighborhood in town just to find these places. Thanks again Spencer for your wonderful service to the community!!

We never know what situation a person is in when they leave their home “abandoned”. Perhaps there is a parent or relative who needs 24/7 care, which perhaps is supposed to be temporary. As a former caregiver for my parents it is an all consuming task which can last months or years. Hopefully they are getting the support they need. Thank you Spencer for doing this monumental job. The homeowner and her neighbors are benefiting from this.

I did let some neighbors know and they were willing to help with keeping an eye on the house and any mowing. Fortunately, I could leave my parents for an hour or two at a time and was able to run home. It was an exhausting time.
