I can concur. I've mowed yards since I was a kid, but never knew much about weed-eating, especially edging along sidewalks, curbs and such.
A few years ago the Lord just started dropping more mowing opportunities in my lap without me even looking for them.
I'm doing 10 properties this year as I did last year.
What does all this have to do with your comment?
I started watching LOTS of mowing videos about 2 years ago, from many channels (SB Mowing, Al Bladez, Cabin on a Hill, Copper Creek Cuts Lawn Care, Top Notch, Fill's Lawn Care, Tim the Lawnmower Man, and others).
I was just telling my wife last week how proud I am of how much better my weed-eating has gotten.
I can do it a hundred times faster now, my edges are MUCH straighter than before, and everything looks better, yet in much less time.
That is all thanks to watching these various mowing channels, paying attention to their technique, and implementing what I saw.

When you see a house that looks like 💩 and you want it, all you have to do is a little quick research into who owns it and make an offer. If nobody owns it then you go to the city to do the same. The city will make sure to look into any possible heir and if their isnt one will begin the process of taking it over and finding a bank to sell it.
But if youre lazy and do nothing but day dream and expect others to do things for you or others to handle things for you then thats how nothing gets done.

@@k1n63dI don't know what State or City/Town you live in, but they don't "look into possible heirs" of abandoned properties. The son the neighbor mentioned probably doesn't want to deal with it. You can't just take over a property without going to court and paying $$ for research, deed transfer, etc. Maybe the son of the brother or sister didn't have a relationship with their parent, maybe there is an outstanding mortgage, or 2nd mortgage on the house. There's a LOT of reasons someone doesn't want to "inherit" a property, especially if it will cost them money up front to get it in their name, contact the bank if there's a mortgage, going through probate court getting authority as an unnamed heir, finding a will (if there was one), fixing it up to sell, selling it, and doing all the paperwork to accomplish all the previous things I mentioned. If this property was indeed unlived in for the past 4 YEARS, there is no electricity, water, homeowners insurance or property taxes being paid on the property. If that's the case (depending on where it is located), pipes will freeze and burst causing flooding and mold in the home. Banks are not in the real estate business. They never want to foreclose or "take over" an abandoned property (if there is an outstanding loan) on it if humanly possible. It costs a bank way too much time and effort to track down anyone remotely "related to" the property owner. They will "write off" their loss. This property most likely will continue to sit there deteriorating until neighbors (who live on either side) get on the horn to the Town Assessors office/building dept and start complaining tirelessly about the grass, rats or other vermin inhabiting the house, squatters moving in, etc. Apparently, the neighbors on either side don't care that an abandoned property is devaluing THEIR maintained property. This house will eventually collapse on itself and the Town will end up demolishing it and sell the land for a new house to be built.

I remember being so excited when you responded like I was being spoken to by a celeb! 💜 I love that you keep doing the beautiful work you are doing. And that you are wearing gloves! 😁Might be time to keep a bottle of dawn with you, a gallon or two of rinsing water, a change of clothes and fresh gloves. It's inconvenient, for sure, but when it knocks you out for two weeks of misery ... it's time to weigh the options. I also keep some Benadryl with me to help in case I breathed it in too. THANK YOU for all the hard work you do that keeps us entertained and is such a blessing to so many.

Sometimes there are liens on the houses the relatives can’t afford to pay? Maybe legal reasons….like everyone who inherited it has to agree to sell it. When people die even with a will things can get complicated.

@@susanjimnelson1916 It can get even MORE complicated if there is no will and/or no inheritors.
