- I found this house and noticed that there were lawn care business cards taped to the door and the mailbox was zip-tied shut. The neighbor next door was mowing her lawn so I stopped to get some more info. She told me that the owner passed away a few years ago and the city continues to fine the relatives. She has lived next door for over 20 years and has never seen it this bad. Luckily, I got it cleaned up and looking amazing again! Also, I got to try out my new Bad Boy mower.

I’ve been doing something similar, but just in the empty lot / woods next to me. I’ve edged the curb and I clean all of the leaves out of the road that are up against the curb. I just like the way it makes my side of the street look.
I always look forward to Friday mornings to view a new SB Mowing video. Its too bad you can't get a tree removal company to take down the dead trees. Excellent as always! Can't wait for the next video.

@@earl3358 There were probably a lot of roots in the way. I cut and pulled roots in my backyard last weekend. Lot more work than it looks.
No roots there. Let's just assume he put it back off camera.
I've had many root battles. A Sawzall and carbide pruner blade is the go to these days
I agree with the one neighbor lady who said this is a lovely property. I would really like to see a follow-up video where all of the old, dying trees are cut down, and the gigantic, overgrown hedges and shrubs are cut way, way back.
I couldn’t agree more. This property has soooo much potential. It needs continued tlc, and definite professional attention as well. Hopefully the owner reaches out to Spencer and thanks him for his tireless mission.

It's sad that so many homes are just left to rot while some family could be enjoying living there and take care of the place themselves.
@@TrueFaceMaskhouses are very expensive now. Even renting a decent apartment in many parts of the country is too expensive for many people. Average rent is now $1500 month. You need an income of around $110K to buy now. Average mortgage is $2900 month. In some states, California for one, a mid tier house you'd need income of $224K to qualify. Having a job isn't what it used to be.
It is sad, I agree. Unfortunately, maybe the family cannot afford to keep it nice and could probably be waiting for legal stuff to be finalized. We'll never know. I hope the lady's family is able to find a buyer willing to restore it for another family to enjoy.

Because half of my income goes towards child care and then bills. So tell me again how am I going to afford a house? The problem is inflation so sit down and stfu.

Housing has gotten way out of hand. Not many people can afford to by or rent. Let alone try to maintain their yards. Fined if you Let it get out of control, or just abandon them. I see alot of that happening all over our nation.

These corner houses especially make the neighborhood look so much better when cleaned up as they are so visible to so many neighbors and people passing by

I love the new mower. What impressed me most is that it doesn't leave those ugly gouges in the lawn from the skinny tires.
Spence your really making a difference in all of these communities. I think of each time your doing these clean ups, who the previous owners were, and how your paying honor to them. Keeping up with one’s lawn is hard work, I do mine myself, and i put so much pride into every decision I make while making my property look nice. So I can tell by all the placed rocks, cut in flower beds, and chosen shrubs, that at one time someone stood on there land and THEY felt the pride i’m referring to. Again, you are paying homage to those that were there before. Keep up the good work!
That house needs to be filled again with a loving family full of laughter and the making of beautiful memories. It is a pretty property, and with a little more work it would look like a showcase home for the neighborhood. Maybe you started something forward that will have a happy outcome. Fantastic hard work on a very large needy yard as always. Love your work and have fun with the new mower. May it exceed all your expectations.
What a cute house. I don't understand why the Niece didn't contact a realtor asap before the home deteriorated. And once a squatter gets in there, they are tough to legally remove.
i can. some people don't want the hassle of it. some might get anxiety from having to deal with things like that.
Lots of reasons people don’t take responsibility for properties. We don’t know the whole story. Eventually, when taxes/liens aren’t paid, the city or county sells it🤷🏻♀️

I believe that mower does a more superb job than the other. It looks like it doesn't leave it as clumpy as your hustler! And I've watched other "mower" guys, and they don't take the time to even move a ball under a trampoline to weed eat! So my hats off to you for doing it the right way, and taking pride in your work! Most people don’t know it takes about 2 years to settle an estate involving property!
That's why it's important to put a house in a Trust. It avoids Probate Court.
Plus all the civil courts that handle probate were shut down for a year due to covid, creating a backlog of cases to an already slow process.
Where I live, it takes a couple years to settle the entire estate but if the will is clear the Executors can sell the principal residence within a few months.
That may be, but No excuse for not maintaining a property and just letting it get overrun that shows no respect for your neighbors in the neighborhood so, yes, everyone has a different story, but at least have respect for your neighbors and keep it managed….
It seems the worst yards are usually huge lots with lots of sidewalks. My favorite parts of the transformations are the edging and the trimming of the hedges and tree branches. I’m hunkered down on the couch with my coffee on a snowy morning in Wisconsin watching you work and it’s very enjoyable. Thanks for all you do, Spencer.

We have a Bad Boy zero turn mower for our 1.5 acre yard. Deck cuts 54", we change the oil and filter every spring, Sunoco regular unleaded, change gas filter every 2-3 years, lube joints we can reach, blow off debris when it's dry enough to do so, time to mow under 30 minutes including 4 mature and 3 young trees out in the yard, driveway easement and sidewalk mulching grass clippings. You didn't ask but I thought it informative to share our experience. We bought the maintenance kit but have had no reason to use included spark plugs. It runs like a top and we really like the results. Blade needs sharpening but hubs reluctant to engage a trailer rental to take it 17 miles to dealership. Paid it off 3 years ago and have owned it +/- 6years. Enjoy the ride, Spencer!❤🎉😊
This one truly brought tears to my eyes.. it’s a beautiful house, neglected, and was likely an expensive one, back in the day. It could be a tremendous home for a family or individuals.. especially with so many people needing a good home. l wish the owner would sell, rather than letting it fall apart, doing nothing… such a pleasant neighborhood… l hope something’s done to save this house; it really is a lovely place, imho… thx Spencer for your hard work on this one….

It looks like it was a beautiful property so it's sad that it's pretty much abandoned. The new mower seemed to handle this overgrown lawn really well. It looks great, and I'm sure the neighbors are happy with it!!

Spencer, you should enlist a tree service that's interested in doing the same type of work as you're doing, in order to beautify the yard even more by trimming down these huge trees and bushes. I would definitely watch that as well. This yard in peticular is amazing and a little tree/bush work would be amazing!
I don't know of any tree services that have u-tube channels, every video I've seen involved removal of large trees, not trimming.

He clipped the bushes starting 35:21.
Plants like bushes and trees can be trimmed at most 1/3 of the size at one time, otherwise you risk killing the plant. He trimmed exactly right.
He did trim the bushes in the front. I just wish he trimmed the one on the curb where cars have to go around.
I wonder why he left the volunteer trees between the bushes and the house. Would have looked even better with those gone.

I'm 68 years old and retired and I am the one taking care of the yard. I also trim my small trees like African sumac, bougainvillea and other bushes I have planted.
I am learning a lot more by watching your videos.
As long as I'm able to do it, I will take care of my yard myself. It's good to keep me active and its healing to be in contact in nature.

That yard is beautiful,. It's so big it looks more like a park. It wasn't as overgrown as some I've seen you do but it looked so much better and more cared for. The curbs being clean will make a huge difference for neighborhood drainage. Oh, and your new mower looks awesome and seemed to do a great job, so congrats. I like that it's US made.

I have a residential Bad Boy MZ Rambler 42" that I got last year, to replace the Bad Boy that I had since 2009, before that I went through 3 John Deere lawn tractors in less than 10 years, so I definitely swear by Bad Boy mowers, they are definitely built to last.
I wish you would have trimmed the bushes and trees on the side/front of the house ❤ You always make a big difference!
