As someone from Los Angeles, where even the tiniest house is super expensive, I'm always amazed that there can be abandoned houses. This house would be such a great space if it were taken care of.
It just goes to show how much things vary from place to place. That said, just because it's vacant doesn't mean it isn't owned. A lot of these vacant properties are owned by someone who's had to move into a nursing home on Medicaid. They keep the property because although they *could* sell it, that would convert it into a countable asset, which counts against them when calculating their eligibility for Medicaid. They can't rent it out either, since the rental income would count against them. The best thing for them would probably be to sell the house and move into a retirement community, but that's excruciatingly expensive; for a lot of seniors, it's far more affordable to instead go on Medicaid and go into a nursing home -- which costs a hell of a lot more in reality, but Medicaid will pay for nursing home care once you're indigent. It's not a good system, but it ends up being what a lot of people resort to once they're no longer physically able to manage their own care in their homes.

I'll guess his name was Methew
Viram a "estufa" do vizinho????
You're a better man that me, Mr. SB...I would have just left and not come back...Of course, I don't like people too much to begin with...Oh, the idea of people is fine, but actually interacting with them has always freaked me out just a bit...Ironic, as my job is basically a teaching job...
Spencer! You are one COOL CAT!! I would have been scared to bits. Good for you that you protected your family and still saw this through. Your grace under pressure was awe inspiring!!! Blessings!!!!!!!!
you're a good husband you don't realize it, but you just made your wife feel very safe and know that she is protected by you, that alone will make your relationship more solid... good job SB. I'm very very proud of you. Can't let people push you around. And you did a very good job on the yard.
Thank goodness you didn’t fall for that nonsense.
I’m glad the young man came out to help you. Please be careful out there. I’m so glad you’re ok.
Sketchy neighbors. I’m so glad you are safe. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you for everything you do for so many people. Thank you for your kindness to so many people. Your kindness is so amazing, Spencer.
JEEZ...This stuff is hypnotizing! Even as a young guy. I can't imagine doing this...and for free. A REAL marketing guru. 'Hope he prospers and has a team that will carry on the legacy. Excellent stuff my Friend!!
Insane situation firmly handled Spencer!!! Keep safe man and take care!!!
You are amazing for still mowing the lawn despite the previous encounter with the neighbor! Thank you for all you do, Spencer!! Praying for blessings and continued safety as you work 🙏❤️
Holy Guacamole! That was insane! I'm glad you handled the situation well. I was actually scared for you. Great job!
As always, your restoration of that yard is amazing. Thank you to the nice neighbor for his help. Stay safe, Spencer!
Wow, Spencer... and you went back, bless your heart.
Seeing the old basketball net in the backyard made me feel sad because it reminded me that it was once a much loved family home and through unforeseen circumstances it's now abandoned🌻You do great work Spencer. I like to think that you reveal the potential for someone else to think of making it their home🏡
That's scary!!! So glad you both are okay!! 🙏
Looks absolutely amazing!!!
So glad you and Mrs SB were safe!! Always treat a threat seriously!!!! Love y'all great job!!
Excellent job on both transforming that property AND trusting your gut. I will admit, I’ve seen you do your magic in some really rundown areas, but this was the first time I watched you really handle a very risky encounter. Excellent work Spencer! The community really owes you a lot of respect and gratitude!
Stay safe out there Spencer and Mrs SB. Your work is amazing!

Always trust your gut instinct Spencer! I’m glad you and your wife are safe.
Good Morning Spencer! Oh my gosh!!! Thank you once again for all you do to care for these neglected properties! I can only imagine what you must go through at times! Please stay vigilant, safe and healthy! You are an amazing young man for sure! Wishing you and Mrs SB a safe and wonderful day! 💕
***That mower is one awesome piece of equipment for sure!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Despite the drunken retch next door your equipment is top notch and takes care of that unbelievably high and thick vegetation. Most people would have given up taking on such a project. Your perseverance is remarkable.
I knew one day you would be confronted like you were...be careful out there, Spencer.
